This is very complicated, scheduling around Diwali and Shahrukh’s birthday. My regular schedule is just going to be completely thrown off. So, random Tashan review going up on 11/1.

Monday Review Announcement: Band Baaja Baarat! Because I Haven’t Reviewed it Yet and I Feel Like It
Think of this as holiday scheduling. The Diwali releases are going to be so over-whelming, I may end up watching multiple non-Hindi films in theaters. And to make time for that, I am going to throw in a Hindi review on my usual Southern Review day earlier in the week. So I will review BBB next Monday, 10/29.
Happy Birthday Month Shahrukh! Jab Tak Hain Jaan, Yash Chopra’s Final Love Triangle
Happy Wednesday Shahrukh Review day! Aw, only one left after this. That’s sad. But, it has given me a chance to crank through some of his films that I hadn’t gotten around to addressing before.
Trailers! Thugs Song, Pihu Trailer, Simmba First Look, Madhavan in Telugu
What a trailer-riffic day today! I guess everyone is putting stuff out now before Diwali when we still have time to focus on it.
Wednesday Watching: What Are You Watching and Reading and Thinking and Listening to the Day After Prabhas’ Birthday?
Happy Wednesday! I am almost done with the week and I can’t WAIT!!! Sorry for all the lame posts, it’s turned out to be a bit busy at work, so my brain is a tad fried.
Global Box Office: Badhaai Ho to Badhaai Ho!!!!! And All Its Little Money Babies!
Is “money babies” too disturbing an image? Oh well, I’m sticking with it! It’s thematic and correct. (as always, figures from bollywoodhungama)
Tuesday Telugu: For Prabhas Birthday, Darling
I finally watched it! What a delightfully silly inconsequential movie. There is no real “reason” to watch it, besides it just making you smile. Oh, and yes, as I was told, Prabhas’ rough voice saying “darling” is indeed addictive and delightful.
TGIT: HAPPY BIRTHDAY PRABHAS AND SHAHRUKH!!!!! Let’s Compare Your Bodies Piece By Piece
You know how it is wrong to objectify people and think of them as only their outer surface and blah blah? Put a pin in that for a second and try to forget it, we are going to vote on who has the best body between Shahrukh and Prabhas! Top to bottom, piece by piece.
Saaho Teaser! I Don’t Like the Pants
Well, another “teaser” is out. I’m not even sure it is long enough to qualify as a teaser. I’m not sure what exactly this is. Oh well, Happy Birthday Prabhas and all that, I guess they felt like they should get him something even if they had to kind of scrunge around in the back of the closet to throw it together.
Hindi Film 101: Indian Film as Escape and Reality
This came up in a conversation with Niki in the comments a week or so ago, the difficulty of when a fantasy is too real, too close to reality, not the hero part of it that I already discussed, but the situations, the life that the heroine is leading. And it made me think, is that why Indian films are so consciously unrealistic in certain ways?
My World Has been ROCKED!!!!!!!
My big sister told me something last night which shocked me to the CORE and changed everything I always thought was true. I still haven’t recovered, so I think I need to do a post about it.
Shahrukh Birthday Month Discussion Post: What Do You Love, Hate, and Tolerate About Him?
First, I did not miss yesterday even if you think I did!!!! I wrote a brilliant beautiful wonderful fanfic that more people should read. Shahrukh and Irrfan fall in love, it’s delightful. And now I am back to a nice little discussion post.
Monday Morning Questions: What Do You Want to Ask Me the Week I Didn’t Watch Namaste England?
Yes, I am still feeling guilty about that. I am sure I will get over it someday, probably sometime after I stop feeling guilty for not watching Dhadhak. Oh well, I always have to feel guilty about something, might as well be this.
Koffee With Karan: Episode 1, Alia and Dips and a Surprise SRK
I love you us.hotstar.com!!!!!! I think I may have been able to watch this even before the India broadcast? Anyway, get a hotstar subscription, all you people reading this! It’s worth it!
Sunday ReRun: Qarib Qarib Singlle, a Nice Mature Romance With a Weak but Happy Ending
I just reviewed this movie a few months back, but it’s on Netflix now and it is very pleasant, so I thought I might as well bring out the review again.
Silly Sunday: Shahrukh and Irrfan in a Passionate Late in Life Relationship
Well, MKY pointed out at in the comments on my Friday post that Shahrukh would never play a same-sex romance, or the father of a marriage age daughter, or a polyamorous man in 3 relationships. To which I said “well, that’s what fanfic is for!” So if Shahrukh isn’t going to give us these films in real life, I feel I have an obligation to give them to us in fanfic form.
Friday Classics ReRun: A Gentleman! A Second Chance For Those Of You Who Missed It the First Time!
For some reason there were a lot of comments from people saying they started A Gentleman and didn’t get time to finish. And it is such a good movie, I wanted to give you a second chance! Review going up again on 10/26.
Sunday Classics/ReRun Announcement: Daawat E Ishq! To Remind Us Why We Love Parineeti
I have been hearing complaints about it being a wee bit overwhelming to try to keep up with my schedule of movies when I post things in advance. So I am going to do a rerun this week, in hopes that you have already seen it and don’t need to do a rewatch.
Shahrukh Birthday Month Discussion Post: What Do You Think is His Best Performance?
And Saturday keeps rolling along! Flowers are in the window, groceries are put away, and before I start thinking about dinner, I need to get a Shahrukh discussion post up!
I Skipped Namaste England, Sorry! Fate Was Against Me
Sorry sorry to everyone who really wanted a review. It just wasn’t meant to be. There were other things I was destined to do.
Badhai Ho Review (SPOILERS): A Movie About Loving Your Parents as People, Not Just as Parents
What I lovely movie! Just delightful. And no knowledge of the plot can really “spoil” it (although if you definitely don’t want spoilers, you can read my other review). So I am going to encourage you to see it in theaters if at all possible, and if not read this review and plan to catch it streaming or otherwise.
Satuday Small Talk: Let’s Talk the Day Away While I Watch Namaste England!
Happy Saturday! I had such a good evening yesterday, Badhai Ho was wonderful and I had a nice drive there and back and got a good night’s sleep. Let’s see if the rest of the weekend lives up to the beginning!
Badhai Ho Review (No Spoilers): A Family Movie in the Truest Sense
What a wonderful movie! It’s just so full of love and goodness and it makes you feel full of love and goodness while you watch it. Takes a silly small premise and turns it into something beautiful.
TGIF: Shahrukh Birthday Month Post, Photos of Himself as Characters He Should be Playing
I’m in that perfect mood of tired but wanting a distraction that leads to very short fanfic ideas. So, for today’s TGIF, let us look at photos of Shahrukh in real life and pretend they are characters he is playing.
Friday Classics: Eklavya, a Movie that Comes in Just at the Ending
Happy Friday! I managed to get through the week somehow! Well, almost, I’ve got one more day left. But yesterday was the day when the staff went from 4 to 1 (me). Today and Monday it will be back up to 2, and then by Tuesday it will be all the way to 4 again (woo).
