Aamir launched a new song from Dangal a couple of days ago, and carefully avoided commenting on anything controversial at the launch, from the monetary thing-I-don’t-fully-understand to the terrible thing that is too emotional for me to talk about. Maybe that’s why Aamir isn’t talking about it either? Or maybe it’s because he wants this movie to actually release without controversy.
In case you missed it, the contest is, whoever makes the most comments within a given week, “wins”, and I mail them a Christmas card! You can only win once, so if the busiest commentator of the week has previously won, I will move down to the next one on the list.
This came up from a discussion I had in the comments back on Monday with the commentator “Sal” about Kunal Kapoor. And I thought “Heck, I bet I can get another silly Friday post out of this! And one that will leave you lots to discuss and consider over the weekend!” Because I KNOW you are not all going to agree with me on all of these.
Right after I put up my post about how everyone finds spiritual sustenance in different places, I got an urgent message from a friend saying she needed photos of sexy Indian men IMMEDIATELY! Which kind of proves my point. And also suggested another post idea.
I don’t know why praying feels like it will make a difference at this point, whatever happened has already happened, we are just finding out about it now. But there is nothing else to do, so we might as well.
Even if you have to stand in line, even if it makes you miss a shift at work, even if you are scared of protestors or campaigners outside the polling line, DO IT!!! Consistently, polling shows that the majority of people in America don’t agree with the politicians, but the politicians don’t care, because the majority of people don’t vote. If you want America to start reflecting the concerns of people of color, young people, and everyone else who doesn’t feel heard, we need to show that we will show up and help elect people. Or not elect them. If you don’t choose “the better of two bad options”, then the worse of the two bad options will keep winning. I announced a couple of days ago that I was going to try a give away, based on who made the most comments in a given week, over the next 9 weeks. This is the first week, I’m excited, let’s see how this works!!!
I saw ADHM for the second time last night and, just as I suspected, I enjoyed it much more on a second watch, when I knew what was going to happen and I could focus on just appreciating how they built it up. And this also means I have a much clearer memory of the details, and can come back to my full summary in multiple parts, all renewed and refreshed!
It’s Friday, I had a long week (that Wednesday Cubs game!!!), so my friend and I just spent two hours working on a very very silly personal challenge together. An attempt to answer the question “What flavor/food best encapsulates the feeling of certain movie star’s sexiness?” I did the men and she did the women. (also, she’s a really cool Burlesque dancer under the name “Rosemary Maybe“, just in case she ever comes to your town, you should check her out!)
Well, Shahrukh’s birthday is over, which means it’s time for me to start revving up for Christmas. I loooooooooooove Christmas. In my Christmas post last year, I said I had 3 Christmas trees. For my one room studio apartment. Well, I went shopping after that, and now I have 8 Christmas trees. And that’s in addition to my Christmas village and my string of 2 foot long light up candy canes. And I several years ago, I found a special way of combining my Christmas and Indian love.
Yaaaaaay! For the 1 day, the final day, here is the 1 way that Shahrukh makes me feel. And, okay, I’m going to go a bit over the top here, but I figure, if you’ve come with me this far, you feel the same way. Plus, I’m all caught up in the holiday spirit!

I finally watched Alai Payuthey! After putting it off for years and years and years and years and years. Because I love Saathiya, and I didn’t want to risk having it spoiled. But turns out, they are two distinctly different movies! Although still similar to Saathiya, so this is going to be kind of a combined review. I talked about some of these differences a little already when I reported on the OK Jaanu/OK Kanmani remake thing.
