I’m having an out of sorts day, mostly because I was up way too late last night (Hamilton). So I feel like something cheerful and silly. And I am dragging you all along with me! Oh, and fair warning, when I get sleepy I get MEAN. Or rather, I am always secretly this mean, my filter just doesn’t work as well when I get tired. So be prepared for some not very nice comments about famous people.
Okay, how many Teacher’s Days ARE there?!?!? I already did the American/International Teacher’s Day, and Guru Purnima (click the links if you feel the need to review former teacher songs), and now there’s ANOTHER Teacher’s Day? Just for India? Thank goodness there are so many teacher songs! (this is an updated and reposted post from last year)
Happy Wednesday! Such an odd shortened week, I almost forgot about this post because I kept thinking it was Tuesday.
Every once in a while the war drums start beating about how item songs are the cause of all the bad things that happen to women in India, and it always bothers me, because “item songs” ends up including a whole range of songs that are completely different in meaning. Oh, and this is kind of a partner with this post that goes into what objectification means, and this post that talks about male and female gaze)
Huh. I am seeing all these stories about how wonderful Stree is doing in the Indian market, and I am just not seeing that in the overseas market. Interesting, we don’t usually get such a strong divide. (as always, figures from Bollywoodhungama)
Oh there is FUN STUFF today!!!!!!! Talk about contract disputes and filming hierarchies, my favorite! Oh, and also terrible gossip that lets us feel like better people than celebrities and gives that little “zing” of excitement from conspiracy theories.
Huh! What an odd movie. I am glad I watched it, because it was so unusual, but I am not sure I fully understand it. Hopefully those of you who have already watched it can help me.
This is one of those “here’s what’s happening in my life and also dog pictures” kind of posts. Feel free to ignore, it’s just a very busy day for me so it is easier to put up a post like this than a thinky post. Oh, and it ends with my three most energizing songs, in case you are also laboring hard and need an energy boost.
Happy Monday! And Happy Labor Day! Well, in the US. Not anywhere else. We just have to be different. No International Day of Labor for us! No, we have to have our own very special day just for American laborers. Oh well, it’s always nice to have a day off work.
Okay, I’m gonna try something new. I’m going to tell you in advance what reviews I am going to post, so you can watch the movies and be ready with brilliant thoughts to post on the review and join in the discussion. Actually I am going to try 3 new things and see which works best, three different kinds of reviews that I will warn you about in advance.
More suggestions from you! Suggestions that also turned into reading recommendations for me, fun fun! Oh, and plot ideas for movies I really want to see made, whether the stories are translated out of the sci-fi realm or not.
Joyomama had an interesting idea, so that everyone is ready to discuss a film when I post a review, how about I announce the film a week in advance and give you all time to catch up and watch it or think about it so it is fresh in your mind? I like this idea, I’m not sure it will work, but I think it is worth a try.
These are really stories you wrote yourself. Or at least started yourself, on the Wednesday post I had a wonderful time coming up with ideas based on the casts you wanted to see. These are those same ideas, just brushed up and expanded a little bit.
Fun movie, funny movie, intricate movie. I am really looking forward to digging up how it was put together! And I am really really looking forward to all of you helping me understand the ending. Oh, and if you haven’t seen it, get over to my No Spoilers review instead! You should read it anyway, because that’s where I talk about performances and stuff.
What a fun movie! I don’t totally love it as much as I totally love A Gentleman, but it is in the same family of humor. So I am going to take this moment, once again, to plug A Gentleman. If you like this movie, you will like that one! Oh, and you probably will like this movie. It is very likable.
Well, this is a nice little promising collection of stories on upcoming films! Everything looks good today.
