Happy Wednesday! I have had such a weird work week, highlights so far include a customer yelling at me because I dared to take a vacation day when she needed me, and my boss telling the story of when he passed out while running a marathon and ended up with short term amnesia. Weird!

Box Office: Super 30 Super Sinks (Stinks?)
Well, this is heartening! In India (shockingly [sarcasm]) Super 30 is doing well in multiplexes and poorly on the mass circuit. Because poor people don’t like movies about poor people, rich people like movies about poor people. But Super 30 is also kind of DOA overseas! Wooo for the global market! Realm of taste and common sense and not being interested in poverty porn! (figures from bollywoodhungama)
Continue readingTiger-Hrithik War Teaser! I Have Many Follicle Thoughts
Well, this was disappointing. I was hoping for something a little lighter, but instead it is all very guns and black leather. Oh well, it’s just the first teaser.
Continue readingSunday ReRun/Hrithik Week: Bang Bang, My Favorite Hrithik Movie!
I love this movie so much. To a really unreasonable degree. I can justify it as a fun entertaining film, I can’t exactly justify my blind passion for it above all other films. Oh well, the heart wants what the heart wants.
Continue readingHrithik Week: Lakshya, One of Hrithik’s 4 Great Performances (Lakshya, Luck By Chance, Jodha-Akbar, Agneepath)
This is a movie that is a bit hard to find, and isn’t discussed much, but every time I watch it I am impressed by how unusual and high quality it is, and how unusual and high quality Hrithik’s performance is.
Continue readingHindi Film 101: Hrithik Roshan, the Cursed Golden Child, Part 2
Hrithik has had an oddly eventful life. Besides the movie-star thing, there’s just a lot of stuff that happened! And so I have to do a Part 2, even though he is only 45.
Continue readingSuper 30 Review (SPOILERS): Not Enough Masala
Well, that was a bad movie! I already put up a no spoilers review that explains how and why it was bad without revealing more of the plot than was in the trailer. You can read that and then not waste your time on this review. Or you can read both! Whatever you want.
Continue readingSuper 30 Review (No Spoilers): A Movie About Poor People By Folks Who Have Never Met Anyone Poor
Well, that was a bad movie! In a frustrating way, because it is trying to sell a lie as the truth. I am fine with movies selling lies, that’s kind of what fiction does, but what bothers me is when it packages that lie as a truth.
Continue readingTGIF Hrithik Week: Which Hrithik Look is the Best Hrithik Look?
Mostly Hrithik is handsome enough not to be able to do wrong. But within the realm of stunningly handsome, I feel like there are still slight variations that will allow us to pick the best options.
Continue readingHrithik Week Discussion Post: What is His Best Song?
Oh, this is hard! This is very very hard! He has so many good ones. I had a hard time even limiting down which to include in this post.
Continue readingHrithik Week: Aap Mujhe Acche Lagna Lage, Kaho Na Pyar Hai But More So
This and Na Tum Jaano Na Hum are the two bad Hrithik movies that I secretly like better than the good ones. He’s just such a bad actor! And the plots are soooooooooo stupid! It’s great “turn off your brain” fun!
Continue readingHrithik Week: Na Tum Jaano Na Hum, Hrithik and Esha and Saif, Oh My!
Such a silly fun light weight movie! You may say it’s stupid, and I won’t exactly argue with you, but it sure is fun too!
Continue readingWednesday Watching Post: What Are You Reading and Watching and Thinking and Listening to This Week?
Happy Wednesday! I get to have a long weekend this week, so this is my last full day of work (woo!).
Continue readingHindi Film 101: Hrithik, the Cursed Golden Boy, Part 1
I’m breaking my own rule because Hrithik is still in his career, things could still happen in his life, so it is a bit early for a 101 post. But he also has had such a fascinating unexpected life so far, I feel like he deserves a post. Or two posts, because there is SO MUCH.
Continue readingHrithik Week: Mujshe Dosti Karoge, Hrithik’s Movie That Should Have Been a Hit, But Wasn’t
Full disclosure, I love this movie. In all its cheesy ridiculous glory. This is the most early-2000s or all early-2000s films. And one of my all time favorite Bad Hrithik performances. It’s not even so-bad-it’s-good, it is a level higher, so-bad-it-is-more-entertaining-than-if-it-were-good. Can you imagine this movie if Hrithik’s role had been played straight and serious? Blech! BOR-ING!
Continue readingHrithik Week/Shahrukh Summer: Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham!
Happy Hrithik Week! 5 reposted reviews, 2 new ones, I’m excited! And we are starting with the one link between Hrithik Week and Shahrukh Summer, Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham.
Continue readingNews Round-Up: Trailers and Songs! Jabariya Jodi, Khandaani Shafakhana, and Super 30!
I am mostly excited about the Jabariya Jodi trailer, but so long as I am talking about it, I might as well throw in the couple of new songs from other movies.
Continue readingSuper 30 Trailer! Really Interesting Look
Huh! This trailer is not at all what I predicted and the film looks like it might be far better than expected, in terms of performances, imagination, and topic. Yaaay! I love good movies!
Continue readingNews Round-Up Part 2: Kabir Khan and Hrithik Roshan Go to China
More news! This time, just kind of interesting stuff about the growth of the China-India movie trade relationship.
Continue readingSaturday Small Talk: Did Anyone Notice I Skipped a Review Yesterday?
Happy Saturday! I am at my sister’s house and the days are kind of getting a little bit away from me. In a fun way! I saw Student of the Year 2 at the earliest possible show yesterday, and then we were off doing things for hours and I didn’t get to write my review until the evening. Oh well.
Continue readingHrithik-Kangana Background Reading
An anonymous commenter (sorry! If you identify yourself in the comments, I will thank you!) posted a link to this article and I finally sat down and read it. It not only gives an extremely similar story to Hrithik-Kangana, only not between celebrities so it is easier to be objective, it also gives information on stalking behavior from psychiatrists and police experts.
Continue readingHrithik Kangana Ekta Discussion Space, I Am So Tired of This!!!!
Oh boy, I get to recap the whole Hrithik-Kangana thing again! The only good thing is, I was team Hrithik from the start (go me!) because Kangana’s story was always just WEIRD, and his wasn’t. So I get a little ego-boost each time it comes up again. But that is literally the ONLY good thing. Otherwise, it is all stressful and exhausting and strangely repetitive. I would much rather go back to Kangana’s weird work issues than digging up her work-personal issues.
Continue readingUpcoming Movie News! Mental Hai Kya Mess, and New SOTY2 Song
Another SOTY2 song? This one might be my favorite in every way, but I am still kind of tired of them all. On the other hand, the Ekta Kapoor Mental Hai Kya statement is FASCINATING.
Continue readingHappy Cinco De Mayo! 2 times 5 Songs To Celebrate!
Happy Cinco de Mayo! A Mexican holiday, which inspires me to find every vaguely Hispanic song in the history of Indian film. The last two years I have done 5 videos, this year I am going to challenge myself to find TEN videos! Fun times. Oh, and if you tend to ignore these posts, this is one you should pay attention to. I found really good and different songs.
Continue readingFanFic! The Most Unacceptable Possible Plot For Indian Film, I Have Found It!!!! And, on the Other Hand, The Most Acceptable Plot for Shahrukh to Play!
Watched another early morning classic noir, a jail break movie. But what intrigued me for an Indian remake is that it managed to come up with the most shocking possible plot and I kind of want to see someone remake it just to watch everyone Lose Their Freakin’ Minds. And I also watched an early morning classic family film which would be perfect if Shahrukh wanted to play a befuddled father. Or Anil. Or Aamir. Whoever.
