I’m home, I’m eating oreos in my PJs, it’s time to treat myself to writing fanfic. Woo-hoo! Margaret Party Time!

Talent of the 2010s, Female Edition, Sonam to Sara
I already did this for the boys, but can the girls be far behind? And yes, “girls”. Most of these actresses started out before they were 20 and in my book that means you are still a kid.
Continue readingMini FanFic Post: Pick an Ending for the Kareena-Deepika-Akshay Baby Movie!
I wrote this FanFic on Sunday but just kind of sketched in the outline. And then we talked and came up with multiple variations on the story.
Continue readingSilly Sunday: Dark Reunion for Rani and Shahrukh, Charlie’s Angels in India, and Akshay Gets His Come-Uppance
Random mixture of ideas today, I know most people don’t read these, but for those few of you who enjoy them these thoughts were too good to resist. Especially a movie where Akshay gets what’s coming to him. You can skip to the end if you just want to read that one
Continue readingGood Newwz Review (SPOILERS): Good Newwz is Bad News
If you are kind of interested in this movie and want to see how the plot plays out, read the No Spoiler review. If you just can’t get past the Akshay of it all, you can read this review instead.
Continue readingGood Newwz Review (No Spoilers): Major Plot Problem, Why Would Kareena Want Akshay’s Baby?
I saw it! I do NOT recommend it! Once again, Akshay managed to somehow suck all the goodness from a film.
Continue readingHindi Film 101 Repost: Karisma and Kareena, The Kurrent Kapoors
I started the 101s with the Kapoors, so this is one of the very first posts I put up. But it’s still accurate, and it’s still good, so I am reposting it! And now you can learn about the Kurrent Kapoor Sisters.
Continue reading10 Days of Christmas! Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham, the Most Sappy Heartwarming Christmas-y Movie of All!
Happy Christmas! 10 days left! And to start off our celebration, I am giving you the sappiest happiest family-est Hindi film EVER!
Continue readingRani Week: Talaash! Rani and Aamir’s Last Great Collaberation
Rani is technically just a supporting character, but her role is the secret motive and power and goal of the hero. It’s a fascinating kind of role, she has to be isolated from the rest of the plot, but at the same time not isolated, since her reactions drive Aamir in everything he does for the rest of the plot. It’s her sadness, happiness, strength, sorrow, and so on, that make Aamir angry, confused, dedicated and so on.
Continue readingRepost: Intro to 7 Actresses And the Phases of Their Career
This is an out of date post from a couple years ago, but only out of date in that the “most recent” film choices are no longer most recent. And, like, Anushka wasn’t married yet. Otherwise it is still a great post for giving you an idea of the pattern most actresses follow in their careers and how they play out.
Continue readingHistoric Films Week: Asoka, Shahrukh’s Attempt at an Epic
I just wrote this review and posted it less than 2 months ago, but in case you missed it, here it is again!
Continue reading2009 Week: 3 Idiots, the Movie That Changed Everything
Well, I put off writing this post as long as possible. Because this movie just has so much that goes into it, it’s hard to even figure out where to start.
Continue readingHindi Film 101: Shahid Kapoor, the Actor Who Fell Backwards Into Fame
Shahid Kapoor is SO FASCINATING!!! His career reflects the changing guard of Indian film for the past 2 decades more than anyone else I can think of. And those changes are so vast that much of what he has been through in his career has disappeared, as people cannot even conceive of how things used to be. And, coincidentally, I scheduled reviews of two 2009 Shahid movies for today, so it is a good day for it.
Continue readingGood Newwz (zzzzzzzzzzzzzz) Trailer! I’m Not Thrilled
Well, this is a disappointment! Not based on the poster, it’s perfectly in line with what I expected from that, but based on the initially casting and topic announcement I had higher hopes. Oh well, all of life is just a series of disappointments (it’s overcast today and I haven’t had my coffee yet).
Continue readingFriday Classic (on Saturday): Billu, Shahrukh’s Vision of the Lonely Star
Finally getting around to writing about this very interesting and important movie! I hope I am not the only one who finds it interesting and important.
Continue readingShahrukh Summer/Happy Birthday Kareena: Which is Your Favorite Kareena-Shahrukh Song?
They are an okay onscreen couple, although I still find them more like brother and sister than a romantic couple. However, they are really well-matched in songs! Both with moderate dancing ability but a lot of hard work and energy onscreen.
Continue readingSilly Sunday Bonus: High Concept TV Show Based on Poo from K3G Before and After the Film
A single Silly Sunday post is always pushing it a bit in terms of reader interest, a second one is really unlikely to find an audience. But still, Shreyans Goenka and I came up with a really great limited series idea for Amazon Prime, and I feel the need to share it.
Continue readingFemale Films Week: Veere Di Wedding, a Triumphal Happy Female Film
Reflects on Life was just talking about how usually “female films” means some depressing issue based movie and it is rare that they are simply movies with female leads. This is a movie with female leads, happy and rich and worrying about love affairs just like in male lead films. And I thought we deserved something happy after Neerja.
Continue readingHrithik Week: Mujshe Dosti Karoge, Hrithik’s Movie That Should Have Been a Hit, But Wasn’t
Full disclosure, I love this movie. In all its cheesy ridiculous glory. This is the most early-2000s or all early-2000s films. And one of my all time favorite Bad Hrithik performances. It’s not even so-bad-it’s-good, it is a level higher, so-bad-it-is-more-entertaining-than-if-it-were-good. Can you imagine this movie if Hrithik’s role had been played straight and serious? Blech! BOR-ING!
Continue readingShahrukh Summer: Ra.One, Shahrukh’s Attempt at a Summer Blockbuster
I like this movie. It’s fun, it’s light-hearted, and yes there are some bits that just don’t work, but overall I like watching it.
Continue readingFriday Classic: Udta Punjab, A Multi-Starrer Where Alia Easily Outshines the Rest
Such a disturbing movie. Like, not sure if I can go to sleep tonight kind of disturbing. Very disturbing. But also very high quality.
Continue readingNews Round-Up: Kangana’s Nasty, Kareena’s Nice, Sid’s Fake-Dating, and Pankaj Has a New Job
Well, Kangana is now publicly spiraling out. And the response is STILL “gee, so outspoken, so honest!” Well, at least from the comments and analysis on her pet site Pinkvilla, I think other sites are a wee bit more “this woman is crazy”.
Continue readingTashan: Don’t Underestimate the Damsel in Distress, or Over-estimate the Femme Fatale
Yaaaay, I finally get to put up my Tashan review! And hopefully some of you either watched it this week or remember it well enough to comment anyway.
Shahrukh Birthday Month Post: Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham Review, Shahrukh’s Love Defeats Amitabh’s Hate (Again)
Our last Shahrukh Month Review! So SAD!!!! There is still Jab Harry Met Sejal Day to look forward to on Sunday, but that won’t be a “new” movie to the blog. Oh well, there’s always the much less important holiday seasons of Diwali and Christmas to look forward to once Shahrukh Month is over.
Happy Halloween!!!! Ghost Stories For Hindi Film! So, Romantic Ghost Stories!
Today was already a crazy day at work, and then the fire alarm went off and made it crazier. So there is no way I will be able to write a substantive post today (especially since I still have to write tomorrow’s K3G review) and instead I am just going to repost some old Halloween content. Halloween! It’s a thing! Continue reading
