What a surprisingly good movie! There were still moments that could have been better, the ending dragged, etc. etc., but overall it is still a very good film. I can whole-heartedly recommend it.

Hindi Film 101: Katrina Kaif, the Mystery Woman
I hadn’t even considered writing this post until a few days ago when somehow we started talking about her. Which is a sign of how mysterious she is, that her past is such a vast emptiness we all somehow forget it even exists. We think of her as boring bland Katrina instead of considering the amazingness of her life and existance.
Continue readingZero Analysis Post: A Doubling Story, Two People Who Make Each Other Complete
I’ve now seen this movie twice, with a nice long gap between viewings, which kind of lets me shake things out in my head in a better order. And I have watched the slightly clearer Netflix edit along with the theatrical edit. So I think it is time for me to consider what the film was supposed to be about.
Continue readingSaturday Small Talk: Lots of Little Stories, Divorce and Injury and New Business!
This is the News Round-Up post I was going to put up yesterday, but then I did a silly TGIF instead. But now we can talk about it all Saturday! And I can do a bunch of tiny Saturday reports on news stories that aren’t important enough for a real post!
Continue readingBharat Trailer and the Three Khans Playdates
Another Bharat song! Is this the last one? I think it’s the last one. Or maybe not? We’ve still got 3 weeks left, what else are they going to do if there are no more songs? Oh, and there is a super super cute news story going around about the Khans that just makes me happy and I want it to be true.
Continue readingNew Bharat Song! The Fun Sexy Wedding Song We Have Been Missing
This post comes to you from the gate at the airport as I wait for my boarding group to be called, so it will be very short. But still a nice thing for you all to talk about while I am in the air!
Continue readingNew Bharat Song! And Bonus Aamir and a Little Girl
Happy May Day! Two laboring videos put up in honor of it, Salman and Kat’s interesting working love story, and Aamir making a tiny little girl dig dishes. Worst Babysitter EVER!
Continue readingBest/Worst Student of the Year 2 Song Releases, and Bonus Bharat Song Teaser
I don’t like this song teaser system because I feel like I should put up a thing for us to talk about it, but then I end up saying the same things about the teaser that I want to say about the full song and it is all just confusing. Luckily this time I can tuck the teaser in at the end of a post about an actual song.
Continue readingNews Round-Up: Kangana Fails to Understand Mental Illness, Kat Lands a Big Role, Varun and Sara in a Comedy
Kangana through Rangoli just said something so shocking I have to point it out and correct it. And on the other hand, two bits of casting that make me happy, Kat and Sara both get good parts.
Continue readingBharat Trailer! Salman May Have Actually Made a Good Movie
Wow. I actually got a little teary-eyed at a Salman Khan movie trailer. I’m stunned!
Continue readingSaturday Small Talk: What Shall We Talk About While I Run Errands?
Happy Saturday! No new movies to watch this weekend, so I have all kinds of free time to do all kinds of errands. Fun fun!
Continue readingTGIF: Hair! I’m Getting Mine Trimmed Today, So Let’s Look at Gorgeous Hair on Women
This sounds really egotistical, but I have the most amazing hair you will ever see in your life. Like I said, egotistical. But actually, it’s just saying a fact. It’s amazing. I love going in for my annual trim, because everyone takes photos and applauds and it is generally good for the ego. Anyway, I am getting my semi-annual cut tonight and it seemed like a good theme for a TGIF post, women with awesome hair.
Continue readingZero Review (No Spoilers): Regressive Romance, Progressive Special Effects
This is the review to read if you haven’t seen the film yet but want an idea of what it is like before you make your decision as to whether or not to watch it.
Continue readingZero Review (SPOILERS): TOO MUCH PLOT!!!!
First, most importantly, ANGIE! And all other Maddy Fans! Maddy is in it for about 15 minutes cumulatively and all he does is stand there looking solid and sensitive in glasses with shaggy hair. Barely has a character. But looks quite good. Everyone else: this movie was a disappointment, but probably still more enjoyable if you go in fresh than if you go in SPOILED. This review is for those who absolutely cannot see it in theaters, or who have already seen it and want to discuss.
Continue readingNew Trailers! Simmba and Zero! Ranveer Plays Something Ajay Could Do, Kat Plays Something Only She Could Do
I woke up soooooo early today. Which is good practice, because I have to wake up even earlier for my flight tomorrow. And it meant I got to watch the new songs just hours after they came out!
Continue readingNew Zero Song! Katrina Being Sexy and Powerful
At least Shahrukh didn’t wait until just after I went to sleep, he released this while I was well into REM. So I don’t feel TOO badly about missing it the exact moment it came out.
Friday Classics: Mere Brother Ki Dulhan, Everyone Gets a Happy Ending! And Katrina Gets Her Best Ever Role
Huh! This was an even better movie than I remembered! Managed to balance real feeling relationships and specific characters with broad comedy.
Monday Morning Questions: What Do You Want to Ask Me, The Week of My Father’s Birthday?
Happy My-Father’s-Birthday week!!!! To celebrate, I am going out of town. It was the only weekend I could visit my sister between now and, like, May. But I will try to make up for it and be a good daughter by making sure you are all VERY AWARE that it is my father’s birthday this week. 66! That’s a semi-big deal! Or at least, very cool to be matching digits.
Katching Up With Koffee: Varun and Kat! Surprisingly Charming!
Huh! One of the best episodes so far, and I would not have expected that! Just the right mood and the right chemistry I guess, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t.
Silly Sunday: Thugs of Hindostan Without Aamir
On my second watch (kidnapped by my friend Dina and forced to rewatch it), I amused myself by picturing the film without Aamir as part of it. And you know, it works! There is no actual narrative need for Aamir to be there. Here, I’ll show you. Oh, and this will make a lot more sense if you’ve already seen the movie.
Thugs of Hindostan Scene By Scene Part 3: The Ending!!!! I Hate It
Last section! The shortest amount of screen time of all the sections I am covering. But I guess the most important since it is the ending? (full index of Thugs of Hindostan coverage here)
Thugs of Hindostan Scene By Scene Part 2, Middle Third Up To Last Song: Aamir Gets Insufferable and I Get MEAN
I already put up Part 1, plus reviews and stuff, you can check them out in the Thugs of Hindostan index here. This is not a super detailed scene by scene, but it is a little detailed, there was just more stuff I wanted to talk about than could be included in the SPOILER review.
Thugs of Hindostan Scene By Scene Part 1, First Third! Opening through Aamir Taking On the Mission
Yes, I’m doing it! Mostly because I found a lot of little moments I wanted to talk about in the film and the simplest way to do it is string them all together and talk about everything that happens in the whole film. (index of Thugs coverage here)
Thugs of Hindostan Review (SPOILERS): Aamir is No Han Solo
I already put up my No Spoilers review, you can read that if you want to avoid spoilers. Most of the fun of the movie is in the action set-pieces which I can’t really spoil, so you don’t have to be that careful about it, read this review if you want. Oh, and this review is a little short because I am planning to do a semi-scene by scene for this film. Probably more like first half/second half, but the structure and visuals were interesting enough that I want to dissect them piece by piece over the next few days.
Thugs of Hindostan Review (No Spoilers): A Film That Runs from Anything Real
Well, that was odd! A movie with a lot of depth and meaning and purpose that somehow got shrunk and diminished until it became meaningless and small and ugly. Huh. Oh, but the action scenes are still kind of fun, you should still watch it for that if you want.
