Like I said with Part 1, Mirchi was the first true Telugu film I watched, and I was super excited and wrote a very very long email to moviemavengal/Pardesi about it. And then a few years ago I took that email and turned it into a very very long review. Part 1 went up a bit ago, here is Part 2.

Thursday Telugu: Mirchi Review Part 1 (My First Telugu Review/Film! It’s Very Choppy)
The origin of this post is a very very VERY long email that I sent moviemavengal/Pardesi after I first watched this movie. So be aware that it is my reaction to my first regular real Telugu film ever, and I was very excited
Continue readingTGIF: Stars as Easter Eggs in the Tall Grass
I wanted to do stars dressed as bunny rabbits, but there are shockingly few images of that. So instead I will settle for stars dropped around the grass like little Easter eggs. Can you find them all????
Continue readingSilly Sunday FanFic: Overboard! With Shahrukh and Juhi, and Prabhas and Anushka!
I posted this late Wednesday night, but it got very very few views. I am hoping that is because people just didn’t see the post, not because they hate it. I have TV again thanks to youtube, which means I am seeing Overboard on a constant repeat, the way TV tends to play it. And I am thinking, once again, how easy it would be to fix this and make it the totally perfect plot. And so long as I am doing that, why not set it in India?
Continue readingSilly Random FanFic: Overboard! Rewritten for India, Plus Gender-Swapped!
I have TV again thanks to youtube, which means I am seeing Overboard on a constant repeat, the way TV tends to play it. And I am thinking, once again, how easy it would be to fix this and make it the totally perfect plot. And so long as I am doing that, why not set it in India?
Continue readingSilly Sunday: 14 Valentine’s Romances for Valentine’s Week!!!! Part 1
This seems like a thing that should exist, right? Romances that revolve around all the confusion of Valentine’s Day in India. And instead of getting sucked into just one story, I am going to quickly outline 14 different stories!
Continue readingTGIF: Who Looks Best in Fancy Tax Collector Pants?
Thank you Filmilibrarian for this term/idea! By “fancy tax collector pants”, I mean the pants that Ajay wore in Raid, which were the standard office worker slacks, only very very very VERY well fitted.
Continue readingTGIF: Orange White and Green, for Republic Day!
This is a repeat from August for Independence Day, but it is a really really good post, and I checked my views for the original and they weren’t THAT high. So I am repeating!
Continue readingKatching Up on Koffee: BAHUBALI!!!!
I know, this is late, but it’s Christmas Eve, is anyone really waiting for this post to go up?
Continue readingTGIF ReRun: For Christmas! Men and Women in Red
If all goes as planned, I just finished watching Zero and now am driving back to my sister’s place, and the review will go up sometime later today. In the meantime, have a TGIF post!
Continue readingTGIF: Christmas Themed! Men and Women in Green (Like Elves!) Prabhas to Shahrukh to Anushka Shetty
I tried really really hard to come up with good imaginative theme this week. And then I gave up and decided “Green! Like Christmas!” (disclaimer: green turns out to be a really tricky shade! Some of these photos looked green on my home computer and not on my work one. After spending some time squinting, I just gave up and accepted that color can be subjective)
TGIF Annual Holiday Season ReRun: Men in Beards! Like SANTA!!!
It’s the annual (and sometimes other random times in the year) treat!!!!! Men in Beards! For Christmas! Like SANTA!!! Yes, I know it isn’t Christmas yet, but I just barely managed to finish my Delhi 6 review at work and I still have to do blechy end of month work stuff today, so you are going to have to be happy with a TGIF rerun (although there’s a couple new photos). If you want something new, check out Fawad’s Birthday Post.
TGIF: Bachelors and Bachelorettes! Match Them Up or Pick One For Yourself!
This was VERY VERY difficult to research!!!! Not as much information as I would wish on relationship status of the famous. I decided not to include people who were married, or engaged, or in that all-but-engaged level like Rajkummar or Varun. But just dating someone like Ranbir and Alia, fair game! And I know I probably missed people (Arjun Rampal now divorced, Sushmita Sen never married, Tabu, etc). I am posting this earlier than the usual TGIF just so we all have time to make full careful considerations and decisions.
Happy Veteran’s Day! To Celebrate, Men in Uniform!
Happy Veterans Day! Yesterday was the 100th anniversary of the end of WWI and there weren’t nearly as many celebrations as I expected. I guess 100 years from now everything we are going through will seem very small and out of date too. That’s kind of comforting. Anyway, enough of that, hot guys in uniform!
TGIF: It’s Snowing, I’m Cold-Celebrities As Hot Drinks
I may be failing at my “only have coffee three times a week and then the caffeine doesn’t get to you” system. I am sitting in my office on a no-caffeine day dreaming of coffee. Maybe I should get a hot chocolate instead and see if I can trick myself.
Tuesday Telugu: For Prabhas Birthday, Darling
I finally watched it! What a delightfully silly inconsequential movie. There is no real “reason” to watch it, besides it just making you smile. Oh, and yes, as I was told, Prabhas’ rough voice saying “darling” is indeed addictive and delightful.
TGIT: HAPPY BIRTHDAY PRABHAS AND SHAHRUKH!!!!! Let’s Compare Your Bodies Piece By Piece
You know how it is wrong to objectify people and think of them as only their outer surface and blah blah? Put a pin in that for a second and try to forget it, we are going to vote on who has the best body between Shahrukh and Prabhas! Top to bottom, piece by piece.
Saaho Teaser! I Don’t Like the Pants
Well, another “teaser” is out. I’m not even sure it is long enough to qualify as a teaser. I’m not sure what exactly this is. Oh well, Happy Birthday Prabhas and all that, I guess they felt like they should get him something even if they had to kind of scrunge around in the back of the closet to throw it together.
Next Tuesday Telugu Announcement! I Am Finally Watching Darling! Prepare Yourself!
This is one of the most requested films and somehow I never got around to watching it. So now that I am, I want you to all make a big big fuss and enjoy it. The review will go up next Tuesday, 10/23.
Silly Sunday: Random Harvest! A completely Ridiculous Plot that is Just Begging to Be Remade in India
I’m exhausted after yesterday, so I’m not coming up with new stories, instead I am lifting a ridiculous plot from a classic Hollywood film/British novel. A plot so ridiculous that it really belongs in India any way, it was wasted in Hollywood.
TGIF: Happy Labor Day Weekend! Let’s Look at Laboring Men!!!
I just put this up back in May for international labor day. But in America we have our own special “we’re no commies” Labor Day in September. Oh well, it’s a fun post and this gave me a chance to update and add on to it again.
Lazy Tuesday Discussion Post: Recasting Favorite Sci-Fi Books with Indian Actors
I thought the long Shahrukh interview post would give us plenty to talk about, but there aren’t that many comments over there. From which I can only assume, no one loves Shahrukh any more. I am sure he is desperately refreshing the page thinking “surely SOMEONE has something to say about me! Surely it can’t be that no one is interested any more?” Anyway, since you all find Shahrukh boring, I will bring up a new topic for us to talk about.
TGIF: Patriotic! Stars in White, Orange, and Green
Well, it’s the Friday after Independence Day. I should do something patriotic, right? And all I can think of is the Indian colors. Oh well, good enough. My brain is fried after writing my two recent brilliant Hindi Film 101 pieces (read them! They are very good, even if they don’t have sexy photos and star gossip)
Kerala Floods Report/Donation
We get so much joy out of Kerala films, we really should give more back to those whose culture and society has helped create them.
TGIF: The Eyes Have It! Best Eyes in Indian Film in 5 Categories
Suggestion courtesy of Meenakshy, I’m gonna do best eyes in Indian film. In multiple categories, because you can’t really compare, like, Madhuri versus young Salman.
