I have TV again thanks to youtube, which means I am seeing Overboard on a constant repeat, the way TV tends to play it. Continue readingI tried really really hard to come up with good imaginative theme this week. And then I gave up and decided “Green! Like Christmas!” (disclaimer: green turns out to be a really tricky shade! Some of these photos looked green on my home computer and not on my work one. After spending some time squinting, I just gave up and accepted that color can be subjective)
It’s the annual (and sometimes other random times in the year) treat!!!!! Men in Beards! For Christmas! Like SANTA!!! Yes, I know it isn’t Christmas yet, but I just barely managed to finish my Delhi 6 review at work and I still have to do blechy end of month work stuff today, so you are going to have to be happy with a TGIF rerun (although there’s a couple new photos). This was VERY VERY difficult to research!!!! Not as much information as I would wish on relationship status of the famous. I decided not to include people who were married, or engaged, or in that all-but-engaged level like Rajkummar or Varun. But just dating someone like Ranbir and Alia, fair game! And I know I probably missed people (Arjun Rampal now divorced, Sushmita Sen never married, Tabu, etc). I am posting this earlier than the usual TGIF just so we all have time to make full careful considerations and decisions.
Happy Veterans Day! Yesterday was the 100th anniversary of the end of WWI and there weren’t nearly as many celebrations as I expected. I guess 100 years from now everything we are going through will seem very small and out of date too. That’s kind of comforting. Anyway, enough of that, hot guys in uniform!
I may be failing at my “only have coffee three times a week and then the caffeine doesn’t get to you” system. I am sitting in my office on a no-caffeine day dreaming of coffee. Maybe I should get a hot chocolate instead and see if I can trick myself.
I finally watched it! What a delightfully silly inconsequential movie. There is no real “reason” to watch it, besides it just making you smile. Oh, and yes, as I was told, Prabhas’ rough voice saying “darling” is indeed addictive and delightful.
You know how it is wrong to objectify people and think of them as only their outer surface and blah blah? Put a pin in that for a second and try to forget it, we are going to vote on who has the best body between Shahrukh and Prabhas! Top to bottom, piece by piece.
Well, another “teaser” is out. I’m not even sure it is long enough to qualify as a teaser. I’m not sure what exactly this is. Oh well, Happy Birthday Prabhas and all that, I guess they felt like they should get him something even if they had to kind of scrunge around in the back of the closet to throw it together.
This is one of the most requested films and somehow I never got around to watching it. So now that I am, I want you to all make a big big fuss and enjoy it. The review will go up next Tuesday, 10/23.
I’m exhausted after yesterday, so I’m not coming up with new stories, instead I am lifting a ridiculous plot from a classic Hollywood film/British novel. A plot so ridiculous that it really belongs in India any way, it was wasted in Hollywood.
I just put this up back in May for international labor day. But in America we have our own special “we’re no commies” Labor Day in September. Oh well, it’s a fun post and this gave me a chance to update and add on to it again.
I thought the long Shahrukh interview post would give us plenty to talk about, but there aren’t that many comments over there. From which I can only assume, no one loves Shahrukh any more. I am sure he is desperately refreshing the page thinking “surely SOMEONE has something to say about me! Surely it can’t be that no one is interested any more?” Anyway, since you all find Shahrukh boring, I will bring up a new topic for us to talk about.
Well, it’s the Friday after Independence Day. I should do something patriotic, right? And all I can think of is the Indian colors. Oh well, good enough. My brain is fried after writing my two recent brilliant Hindi Film 101 pieces (read them! They are very good, even if they don’t have sexy photos and star gossip)
We get so much joy out of Kerala films, we really should give more back to those whose culture and society has helped create them.
