Shahrukh Month Nice Post: Interview Videos (Be Sure to Watch the Last One, if No Others)

A few of us were saying recently how nice we find it to watch Shahrukh interview videos, because he speaks so well and says such nice things.  And so I have pulled together a fairly random collection of what I could find on youtube.  Feel free to share your favorites in the comments.

Hindi Film 101: #MeToo and the Responsibility of the Court of Public Opinion

This is a very long post with a lot of big thoughts and some specific examples but even if you don’t read the whole post, you should read this new rule I am instituting for #MeToo related comments: IF YOU ARE COMMENTING HERE ABOUT A #METOO STORY, YOU MUST INCLUDE A LINK BACK TO THE ORIGINAL DETAILED REPORT, OR SUMMARIZE IT FOR US.  YOU CANNOT SIMPLY GIVE A NAME WITH NO CONTEXT. If you forget, I will find the link and summarize it in a reply.  But I’ll only do that three times before I start just not printing your comments, so please try to remember.

Monday Morning Questions: What Do You Want to Ask Me Today? And What Movie Twist Sincerely Surprised You?

Happy Columbus Day!  I actually have to go to work, because it’s one of those holidays that not everyone gets off.   Fine with me, Columbus was a horrible horrible person.  Anyway, help me ignore Columbus by asking me questions!

Silly Sunday: Fake Marriage Romances, One of the Best Romance Tropes, Featuring Aditya-Anushka, Ranveer-Dips, and SRKajol

Moviemavengal confessed her love for the “fake marriage” romance trope, and it’s one I like quite a bit as well.  And it’s pretty rare in Indian film, replaced by “real arranged marriage becomes love” which isn’t quite the same thing.  So I shall write a few script suggestions just in case anyone needs any! Sunday ReRun: Mom! Sridevi’s Last Role, A Heroine Who Was Worthy of Her Talents

Andhadhun Review (SPOILERS): A Beautiful Twist at the Interval

I already put up my No Spoilers review, and this film is such a fun ride, I encourage you to read that one and leave this one until after you have watched it.  Unless you can’t handle violence, can’t handle thrillers, or for some other reason will never be able to watch this movie.

TGIF: For Shahrukh Month, Best Shahrukh Candid Photos

Why over think it, you know?  I’m not coming up with a theme or anything like that, I’m just saying out of all the candid photos I can find, these are the ones I like best.  Feel free to disagree and post your own suggestions in the comments.  Or to skip this post entirely if you can’t stand his face.

Friday Classics: Lakshya, a Coming of Age War Story

I always forget how good this movie is, and then I watch it again and it is just REALLY REALLY good.  And sometimes I feel like I am the only person who realizes that, it’s not talked about nearly as much as you would expect for a Farhan Akhtar/Hrithik Roshan/Amitabh Bachchan/Boman Irani/Amrish Puri/Om Puri/Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy/Javed Akhtar/Preity Zinta movie.

Hindi Film 101 Repost: Why It Is So Hard For Women in Indian Film, In Honor of Tanushree Dutta’s Experiences and Kangana Ranaut’s Rapid Rise

This is another old post, but one that is relevant again today as we are reminded both of how aggressive women have to be to get their fair due, and how dangerous it is to make demands, thanks to Kangana and Tanushree Dutta.
