I can’t stop myself! I keep looking at Sonam wedding videos! And, thanks to the latest batch, I now have several competing “ships” that I am rooting for. And I am sharing them with you, in the hope of either getting companions on board the SS Relationship, or else getting a solid common sense mind to drag me off.
I just get a giggle out of today’s news items and can’t resist sharing them. Sometimes celebrity news is very silly! Oh, and some of this stuff is actually interesting too.
I just ordered possibly the last copy in America of the only English language full biography of Savitri. But it’s shipping from a million miles away, and it looks dauntingly thick, so I have no idea when I will finish reading it. In the meantime, I wanted to put up a post based on the very superficial information I have gathered by reading every single English language article I could find on The Internet about Savitri and her associates.

I finally saw it! On Sunday, which is why my Sunday fanfics were so late this week. And also why my dog had a mini-freak out over being left alone so long and got into the trash and gave herself a stomach ache. But it was more or less worth it.

News/trailers/posters round-up really. There are some new movies talked about that we should all be aware of and give our opinions of, because I know we all LOVE giving opinions.

I already put up a MASSIVE Anushka post and I didn’t want it to be too super super long, so I pulled this one story out. Also, this is the story I need the most help with because I can’t figure out how to end it.
Once again, you did the work for me! At least partially. For Anushka’s birthday, we were talking about who we wanted to see her with in her next movies, and that started me out with thinking about what those movies would be like.
This is not an insult to all the many many Hindi film comedy classics that are not on this list! It is just an acknowledgement that humor is a really hard thing to translate, there’s social humor and language humor and all kinds of things that just don’t cross over. But, in my experience, these films for whatever reason do translate well.
No, that title isn’t a typo. It was promoted as a father-son story, but there’s another layer to it. Oh, and it’s still worth watching even if you read the SPOILERS review just for the performances, but the plot will have more impact if you go in fresh. So, read the “no spoilers” review instead if you can!
I had to do a bit of running around to see this movie, and abandon my adorable dog for half the day (she didn’t notice I was gone. She’s not that smart), but it was worth it, because this is a surprisingly good film.
Happy Cinco de Mayo! A Mexican holiday, which inspires me to find every vaguely Hispanic song in the history of Indian film. There are not many. But I was able to find a thematic 5 videos.

A movie I have been meaning to watch for ages, based only on how pleasant the opening song is. But somehow I’ve never gotten past that opening song until just now.
I don’t want to talk about this news story in depth just yet, because it feels like there is going to be more to it that hasn’t come out yet and I am waiting for that. But I also don’t want to miss out on your thoughts and opinions, and possible knowledge of what I am missing, so I will put this up for us to use for discussion and then a “real” post possibly in couple of days when it has played out more.
Happy Thursday! I suddenly remembered that I had a Labor Day themed post I should rerun, and then I realized it was left over from September not May, the American Labor Day. Oh well, it’s a good post, I’m sure you won’t mind seeing it twice in a year.
Yesterday the new Badshah song for Veere Di Wedding came out, which made me think back on how long hip-hop/rap has been part of the Indian film scene in one way or the other. I know almost nothing about this (like, I’m not even clear on the difference between “hip-hop” “rap” and “rock and roll”), but at least I can put up some fun videos and start the discussion!
