Madhuri Day Continues! Anjaam, Madhuri Does Vengeance

I watched this movie with my friend for Valentine’s and, truly, it is the perfect Valentine’s movie!  All the romantic relationships are a different variety of horrible, erotic love leads only to misery, and happiness come from embracing inner strength and aloneness and killing EVERYBODY.  (it might also be the perfect PMS movie) I should also mention, just to complete the picture, that my friend and I ate 2 dozen mini-eclairs straight out of the container while watching this film.  The Perfect Evening.

Happy Birthday Madhuri (in India)

It’s Madhuri’s birthday today!  Well, today in India.  But I want to start celebrating as soon as possible, so I am putting up my birthday posts today.  And it’s a big birthday, and she is a big star, so I am doing one reason for every year she was alive, 51 in total. (this is an updated and reposted post from last year)

Mahanati Review (SPOILERS): A Fresh New 80s Love Story Surrounded By A Tired 1950s Variation on A Star is Born

I already put up the No Spoilers review, but I’m not even sure if those rules apply to this kind of movie.  It’s based on a true story, and there aren’t really many surprises along the way.  So you can read that review if you really hate spoilers, but otherwise you might as well read this review too.  Although, fair warning, I also didn’t like this movie very much, so I may spoil it for you in a different way by making it no longer seem good.

Tuesday Telugu: Mahanati Review (No Spoilers), A Huge Talent Cut Down to Fit in a Love Story

Well, I saw it!  And I did NOT like it.  And then I went home to discover that Dog Hazel had gotten lonely and into the trash and eaten a bunch of stuff she shouldn’t.  So all around, a failure of an evening.

Silly Sunday: Mother’s Day!!!! Let’s Flip Some Scripts

Happy Mother’s Day!  I already put up a song post, and I was going to do a post on stories that haven’t been done before, but then I started thinking about it and instead did a post on unexpected mothers.  Which means I was still looking for a theme for this week and I have chosen…..GENDER FLIP!!!!  What famous father roles could/should be played by mothers instead?

Happy Mother’s Day! Songs to Make You Love Your Mother

Happy Mother’s Day!  No idea what I am doing to celebrate.  Something I am sure.  It will all work out.  If nothing else, there’s always last minute flowers.  Anyway, to get you in the mood of feeling guilty and dutiful if you are a child, or demanding and “you BETTER be grateful!” if you are a mother, here are some songs.  Be ready to get SAPPY! (and don’t read on if you are in a sort of conflicted mind today, which is an okay thing to be, mother-child relationship stuff can be tricky and this is a definite “all mothers are wonderful full stop” sort of post that may not match the mood you are in)

Happy Mother’s Day Weekend! Mother Films Outside of the Norm

Happy Day Before Mother’s Day! I was going to write a fanfic of mother stories for tomorrow that aren’t the usual ones, and then I realized a lot of them had already been in films and I had just forgotten. So let’s celebrate those unusual mothers!

Raazi Review (SPOILERS): Patriotism Which Kills the Host

This is an actual excellent film, and a very fun watch.  It doesn’t really matter if you know what happens, you can still enjoy watching it play out, but if you like being surprised and having edge of your seat thrills, maybe wait and read the No Spoilers review first, and then this one after you have seen the movie.

Silly Narrowcasting Post Warning! Recasting Brooklyn 99 With Indian Actors, Something NO ONE is Interested In

I already did a very long detailed take down of Bharat Ane Nenu this morning, including an overview of the Indian Constitution and it’s deeper social meaning, I’m exhausted, and I know at least one of you also watches both B99 and Indian film, so I am going to indulge myself with a fun easy recasting post.  Plus, the news just broke that B99 was canceled, so the time is ripe for an Indian spin off.

Thursday Telugu: Bharat Ane Nenu (SPOILERS), Has No One Involved Read the Indian Constitution?

You can feel free to read this SPOILERS review, there’s nothing super unexpected in the film that you couldn’t guess from the trailer and the cast list.  But DON’T READ THIS IF YOU LIKED THE MOVIE!!!  Or do, I don’t know your preferences for film reviews.  Just be aware that I kind of hated it.

I can’t stop myself!  I keep looking at Sonam wedding videos!  And, thanks to the latest batch, I now have several competing “ships” that I am rooting for.  And I am sharing them with you, in the hope of either getting companions on board the SS Relationship, or else getting a solid common sense mind to drag me off.

Tuesday Telugu: Bharat Ane Nanu (No Spoilers), How Egotistical Do You Have To Be To Take This Part?

I finally saw it!  On Sunday, which is why my Sunday fanfics were so late this week.  And also why my dog had a mini-freak out over being left alone so long and got into the trash and gave herself a stomach ache.  But it was more or less worth it.
