No new winner this week, so sad. Because the Christmas season is over. Although I am almost tempted to just make this a weekly thing all year. But probably not. Or at least, not like this. Anyway, you do all get to admire the card joyomama won last week, which is my favorite.
This will be the ONLY award for JHMS this year. Just pointing that out for people who think I am blindly Shahrukh mad. It was a good interesting movie, but it is only the soundtrack that really stands out for me when I compare it with the other films of the year. Plus, it wasn’t that great of a year for soundtracks.
Sorry, this is going to be a lot of me-me-me, but it will also be a little bit of a discussion of the responsibility of public writing and education and stuff. So that will be fun! Oh, and it will answer a question that a lot of people have been asking me lately.
I never get much comments on my birthday posts, but this one I have hopes! I am picking, maximum, only 50 songs. Which means I am obviously going to be leaving brilliance out. You get to point out the important things I missed in the comments!
I said there were 4 strong contenders for yesterday’s award, most disappointing. But there were 5 times as many for this award! And yet the box office this year was record breakingly bad. Which says interesting things about what kinds of promotions do and don’t work and what kind of films do and don’t work and so on.
I completely forgot our southerners last week, and I am doing an all-Hindi “Best of 2017” contest, so I really feel like I need to make up for it. And the best way I can is an Entire Post of Southern Gentleman. In their native garb.
Happy Birthday Dips! Sorry I am so late, early January is a bear to deal with. But I am taking a break from the make-up-for-the-holidays rush of work at work, and the cleaning of the apartment and putting away of presents at home, in order to write this post. Because I love you, 32 times over.

This was a hard one! I was torn between Shashiji and Vinod Sir until the last minute. But I think Shashi edges Vinod out by a hair. And, I am sorry, but Om Puri didn’t even make it to consideration for me. (this doesn’t mean voting is closed! You can put your own pick in the comments on this post here)

I don’t know about you, but I am very very happy to be in 2018. It sounds like a nice solid kind of year. However, I am also in the middle of the post-holiday blahs. So I thought I would cheer myself up with a nice post, and cheer you up too if you need it!

Well, Tiger is still going strong! Generally great box office to varying degrees worldwide. Everything else is in its shadow.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!!! Everyone else in the world has been doing their year end lists this past week, but not me! I am a COMPLETEST!!!! I will not do my 2017 awards until every last second of 2017 is finished.
Happy New Year’s Eve!!!! Obviously, I have to do a theme post. I considered stories that revolved around New Years celebrations, but then I wasn’t sure what that would look like in India, so instead I am going with my sister’s suggestion and doing New Year’s combined with time travel.
