I already let you guys say which were your favorites, but I should really talk about my favorites too, right? And maybe it will get a few more people to read them, because some of the view counts for these are pitiful! And they are so brilliant!
I mentioned in my 1,001 post that I was getting a couple hundred visitors a day, but it was less impressive than it sounds. See, I can tell what those visitors are reading, and most of them are not here for my glorious prose and brilliant thoughts. And I thought, as a gift to you, my readers, I would lift the curtain a little and explain why I post what I post, and why you read what you read. And at the very end, I tell you what my top 3 posts of all time are right now.

Massive combined post! Because I am trying to end the day/first year of blogging at exactly 999 posts, so I can’t split this up. But I also don’t want to ignore any of these stories!
Om Shanti Om! Not the most obvious comparison for Dear Zindagi. But I’m thinking specifically of the second half, and the way Shahrukh interacts with Deepika, changing her into a stronger and deeper person. And the way that interacts with the first half, where it is the other way around.
I somehow missed this one. Maybe nobody tweeted it? Hardly seems worth posting, seeing as the actual movie is coming out shortly. But Shahrukh is so cute! I just have to share!
My second Anushka movie of the week! This time it is NOT a May-December romance. Or I guess it is a May romance but not a December romance? It’s unrequited is what I am saying. And I have to kind of wonder if there is going to be something similar in Dear Zindagi, if only because, how could Alia NOT fall in love with Shahrukh after spending time talking to him? How can anyone?

It’s been a while since my last fanvid post, and I recently discovered that I have a fanvid maker in the comments! Which inspired me to dust off my youtube searching skills, and I have dug up gold! Hrithik themed GOLD!!!
I am so confused! Worlds colliding! Shahrukh and Jay Z, Alia and Demi Lovato, Coldplay and AR Rahman. WHAT IS HAPPENING?!?!?!?
I was going to! I set up a time to pick up a friend, I checked the showtimes, I was all set. And then at the last minute, I couldn’t go. For an interesting reason!
No young women really in his orbit in this one, but that’s part of what I find so interesting. That just 16 years ago, it was all about the male generations handing things down to each other (Amitabh to Shahrukh to Jugal Hansraj/Uday Chopra/Jimmy Shergill). And now we are in a space where the future is a young woman.
This isn’t strange, right? It’s not like I am putting up photos of my own father and saying they are attractive. I am just putting up photos of other fathers with their children.
Also, Mickey Mouse! And my best friend! Truly, a blessed day! And a busy day, because I have to squeeze in 2 celebrations (not 3, because I don’t celebrate with Mickey. But I do have commitments to the other 2).
Tragically, these are not happening in the same movie. Kajol and Karan are still on the outs, and Kajol will not be playing mother to Sridevi’s daughter.
I find this an interesting one to think about. Because Shahrukh manages to be in a May-December romance, in which the power is balanced between both parties. Very hard to do, often in the fictional version of these relationships, the young woman is supposed to “control” the man with his desire for her, or the man is so much wiser that she obeys him in every way. But Rab Ne is different.
I posted about them earlier today, but since then Hrithik’s camp has issued a statement saying the earlier story was fault. Whew! Such a rollar-coaster with these two!
Why can’t the international police reveal everything to the gossip media? WHY?!?!? We have to know!!!!
King Uncle is a silly silly not very good movie. Did I mention silly? But it is notable for building an entire film around a female child character. Children based movies are rare enough in Indian film, but female child based films are even rarer.
I wasn’t going to do a news post today, because the Befikre trailer already took up my “short update on the industry” news slot. But then a story came up that was just too sweet to ignore!
“I’ve been looking the landscape over…” I’m I the only one who has that Gershwin song in their head whenever they read “things are looking up”? Moving on, Befikre! New Trailer, and I actually like this one! Oh, and also it was passed by the censors.
Woot! Dear Zindagi is coming out in a week! Because Shahrukh loves me and knows I am out of town over Thanksgiving and therefore he is releasing it 2 days early in America, just for me! In return, as always, I am celebrating a little Shahrukh week before the release (if you somehow missed the Fan and Sultan celebrations, what happens is before a Khan release, I do a series of posts discussing earlier films by the lead in terms of what they might have in common with the upcoming one)
Woo! I’m gonna finish in time for Dear Zindagi week! Really, the end-end goes remarkably fast. Although it still has the patented “Karan Johar doesn’t know how to end a movie” touch.
