I just watched this movie again, with someone who hadn’t seen it before, and it confirmed once again that Hrithik in the second half is really kind of dangerously angry. And that I find him much more appealing when dangerously angry than I do when just sweet and kind of dumb!
I got this DVD from Netflix and watched it a while back, and much of it went over my head. But what I could appreciate was the cool things it was doing with story structure and visuals. So that at least I can talk about!

I’m liking this, having permission on Friday to just put up a super silly post to start the weekend off with a laugh. And this one, like the last one, was suggested by a conversation with a commentator. Moimeme mentioned a collection of men in shorts pictures, which seemed like a brilliant collection to have!
Yet another Befikre trailer! I really did not much like the first one. And then I disliked the second one slightly less, and the third one even less, and now the fourth one has continued the trend, and I almost enjoy it!
This is the post I put up exactly a year ago, when the only people reading this blog were…me (I started posting on my Facebook page so at least my parents would read it a couple days later). I have gotten much more technically competent since then. So I am updating it and re-posting it. With notes added from “future me” in brackets.
I looooooooooooooove Christmas! I have 8 Christmas trees, 1,000 Christmas carols on my ipod, and I spend about a month’s income every year on presents and other sundries (like more Christmas trees). And so, for this very very special occasion, I am going to do a songs post that is NOT Indian!!!! Although, don’t worry, there is an Indian one going up later today too.
Just assume that health, family, home, blah blah blah are taken as a given. Here is the important stuff I am thankful for this year!
First, just like I did for ADHM, I put up a SPOILER review for DZ first so people who have seen the movie have a place to discuss it. So please, no spoilers in the comments here! And no specific questions like “what did you think it meant when the aliens landed and it turned into a gritty post-apocalyptic drama?” here either. I was thinking I would take a day off from blogging, but why? At least 2/3rds of my readers aren’t from America, and Thanksgiving is one holiday that is really just for America. At least on this particular date, I think Canadian Thanksgiving is in October or something? Anyway, I am going to write this post and schedule it in advance, because I will be traveling and sleeping off Turkey on the actual day.
Yes, I AM going to spoil the whole movie! I feel terrible about this, considering that Shahrukh was nice enough to release it 2 days early in America so I could see it before leaving for Thanksgiving. But on the other hand, a bunch of other people in America also saw it today, and we should have a place to discuss it. And there are those people (sometimes I am one of them) who want to know how a movie ends before they even decide to see it. But if you are choosing between seeing the movie and reading this post, SEE THE MOVIE!!! It’s really really good.
I got all mad at Aamir for taking up time on Shahrukh’s day. But of course it’s only Shahrukh’s day in North America, everywhere else in the world his day isn’t until Friday. So I guess I will allow it.
Saved the best (and also most obvious) for last! When you talk about Shahrukh supporting and encouraging and teaching young women, it’s all about Chak De, India. But, why is he doing it? Both his character in the film Chak De, and in real life by taking this role opposite Alia in Dear Zindagi?
I already let you guys say which were your favorites, but I should really talk about my favorites too, right? And maybe it will get a few more people to read them, because some of the view counts for these are pitiful! And they are so brilliant!

Massive combined post! Because I am trying to end the day/first year of blogging at exactly 999 posts, so I can’t split this up. But I also don’t want to ignore any of these stories!
Om Shanti Om! Not the most obvious comparison for Dear Zindagi. But I’m thinking specifically of the second half, and the way Shahrukh interacts with Deepika, changing her into a stronger and deeper person. And the way that interacts with the first half, where it is the other way around.
I somehow missed this one. Maybe nobody tweeted it? Hardly seems worth posting, seeing as the actual movie is coming out shortly. But Shahrukh is so cute! I just have to share!
My second Anushka movie of the week! This time it is NOT a May-December romance. Or I guess it is a May romance but not a December romance? It’s unrequited is what I am saying. And I have to kind of wonder if there is going to be something similar in Dear Zindagi, if only because, how could Alia NOT fall in love with Shahrukh after spending time talking to him? How can anyone?
