I wasn’t going to do a Sunday post this week, but I need a break from writing reviews that I should be writing and it is just so refreshing to do fanfic for a bit. Plus, I love Harry and Sejal!
Well, MKY pointed out at in the comments on my Friday post that Shahrukh would never play a same-sex romance, or the father of a marriage age daughter, or a polyamorous man in 3 relationships. To which I said “well, that’s what fanfic is for!” So if Shahrukh isn’t going to give us these films in real life, I feel I have an obligation to give them to us in fanfic form.
Today was already a crazy day at work, and then the fire alarm went off and made it crazier. So there is no way I will be able to write a substantive post today (especially since I still have to write tomorrow’s K3G review) and instead I am just going to repost some old Halloween content. I know India has a somewhat thriving horror business now, and horror films are definitely not my genre (I have seen three), but it’s Halloween week, so it seemed appropriate.

Happy Sunday! I am sitting on the couch at the end of a long day (groceries, laundry, knitting group, errands) and I am going to treat myself by writing a fun little Silly Sunday post.
Moviemavengal confessed her love for the “fake marriage” romance trope, and it’s one I like quite a bit as well. And it’s pretty rare in Indian film, replaced by “real arranged marriage becomes love” which isn’t quite the same thing. So I shall write a few script suggestions just in case anyone needs any! (oh, and if you want to see one that already exists, check out Love By Square Foot on Netflix)
I’m exhausted after yesterday, so I’m not coming up with new stories, instead I am lifting a ridiculous plot from a classic Hollywood film/British novel. A plot so ridiculous that it really belongs in India any way, it was wasted in Hollywood.
Raajneeti, Sarkar, and the original film, I have been on a bit of a Godfather binge (I also rewatched 1 and 2 over the past couple days). So now the inevitable final step, writing my own version.
I put up a nice rerun post with all kinds of stories you should actually care about, so now I am going to be indulgent and put up a quick post with only things I care about.
This is almost as indulgent as when I rewrote The Philadelphia Story. Who in this day and age and on an Indian film blog knows the movie All About Eve? To the point of remembering all the details of the characters and themes and stuff? Oh well, it makes me happy, and keeps me tied to me roots (my roots being American movies before 1960 which were what I watched exclusively for the first 18 years of my life). Anyway, Procrastinatrix suggested the idea, so I know she at least will be interested.
More suggestions from you! Suggestions that also turned into reading recommendations for me, fun fun! Oh, and plot ideas for movies I really want to see made, whether the stories are translated out of the sci-fi realm or not.
These are really stories you wrote yourself. Or at least started yourself, on the Wednesday post I had a wonderful time coming up with ideas based on the casts you wanted to see. These are those same ideas, just brushed up and expanded a little bit.

Okay, prepare yourself for a very very deep cut. This is my absolute favorite LM Montgomery short story. So, not an “Anne” book, and not one of her other lessor series either. And not even from the first short story collection Chronicles of Avonlea, but aaaaallllll the way in Further Chronicles of Avonlea. But it’s SO GOOD!!!! How can I resist I remake? And it is just crying out for Shahrukh.

I wrote this Fanfic ages ago and not many people read it. But I figure if it is ever going to get any attention, Harry Potter’s birthday is the best chance.
Sorry sorry sorry! Yesterday just completely wiped me out (22 guests is too many guests, especially when one of them has severe dementia and 4 of them are small children). So I literally have not left my bed all day, and every time I try to think straight and come up with a brilliant fanfic, it all just sort of floats away from me. Rainy rainy rainy here. And, I assume, rainy rainy rainy there too. So heck, I’m gonna do rain stories. And rain makes me feel arty, so they will all be reflective little art movies.
I just spent the entire weekend with Sacred Games, first watching it and then writing about. Which has me thinking about other options for multi-season Netflix style miniserieses that I want to see.
This is fun! I put up a discussion question about least favorite cliches, and I am going to use them as a jumping off point and see if I can make an entire film including all the cliches, but fixed. Continue reading
You understand that I mean “gay” as a genre, not an insult, right? Kind of horrible that I have to make that clarification. There used to be a movie store in the gay neighborhood of my city that had a series of shelves called “Neighborhood Favorites”. Which was their little pseudonym for movies with same sex romantic plot lines. So maybe I should say that instead, all the Khans, plus Amitabh, should be in “neighborhood favorite” movies.
Happy Father’s Day! I already reposted last year’s post, which was hideously in depth. And today I am busy giving the church service AND organizing food for coffee hour AND spending time with Dad and Grandpa. So for new content, one line plot ideas. Vote for your favorite! Maybe I will write the whole thing next week.
Happy Father’s Day! This is a repost from last year, but it is very long and worth rereading. And also very very good, I forgot how good this one was! There’s Rana and Shahrukh fighting in wet shirts, Ranbir and Sonakshi falling in love, Varun Dhawan and a baby, all kinds of good things. Also, it’s a Father’s Day Multiverse and all the stories are connected. And anyway, I am spending 6 hours at church today (service plus organizing coffee hour plus meeting), so I earned a rerun.
