Grumpy Post About My Least Favorite Part of Indian Film-SUBTITLES!!!!

I don’t usually let myself complain, but it’s pouring rain, my summer schedule is looking like the things I want to do won’t be possible because of other stuff that is happening that I am less excited about, and I have a big irritating expense that appeared suddenly out of nowhere. Also I just got an email asking me to sub in for Sunday school this week and I REALLY REALLY don’t want to. So I am going to complain about a thing that I think we all have strong feelings about-SUBTITLES!

Yet Another Discussion Post: What Question Would You Ask Shahrukh if You Were At the Letterman Taping? And What Question Do You Hope Letterman Asks Him?

This is a suggestion from Procrastinatrix, and I think it is a fun one! Especially if we get really really specific about the situation, not just a general “what would you ask Shahrukh?” topic.

Wednesday Watching Post: What Are We Reading and Thinking and Watching and Listening To on Madhuri’s Birthday?

Happy Wednesday/Madhuri Day!!!! I am almost through my weird busy week. Worked remotely on Monday, worked on no sleep after a delayed late flight yesterday, work normal today, then go see a co-worker in a show tomorrow night (Othello, it’s like Omkara but without the songs. So, completely depressing), and then Friday is De De Pyaar De (unless Dina talks me into seeing SOTY2 again so she can watch it).

News Round-Up: Harshwardhan Rane is In a Movie That Won’t Happen, Kangana Tries to Start Feuds That Won’t Happen, Tiger 3 WILL Happen, and Shahrukh’s PR is Happening

Nothing super duper interesting here, just stories that are continuations of other stories, or else rumors of things that won’t happen. But it’s Monday, we need things to talk about!

Monday Morning Questions: What Do You Want to Ask Me as I Work from My Sister’s House?

First time I have tried this, the cheap plane tickets meant my flight isn’t until this evening, so it just kind of makes sense to work from her house. But I don’t know, working from somewhere else? Trying to focus on work stuff like family is right there? It all seems difficult.

Friday Classics (on Saturday): Rehna Hai Tera Dil Main, Dia Mirza and Us All Fall in Love with Maddy

Finally watched it! After having heard about it for years and years and years and years (the soundtrack is everywhere). And I’m kind of glad I waited, because this way I got to come at it having already seen a bunch more Gautham Menon movies and having a bit more of an idea of what he does.

Saturday Small Talk: Did Anyone Notice I Skipped a Review Yesterday?

Happy Saturday! I am at my sister’s house and the days are kind of getting a little bit away from me. In a fun way! I saw Student of the Year 2 at the earliest possible show yesterday, and then we were off doing things for hours and I didn’t get to write my review until the evening. Oh well.

Student of the Year 2 Review (SPOILERS): A Surprisingly Good Look at How People Evolve, Tied Up with a Candy-Colored Bow

I am so excited to write this review! This is one of those films that is structured so well, summarizing it is a joy. You shouldn’t read this review if you plan to see the film in theaters, there are some nice little flourishes that are fun to be surprised by. Read this no spoiler review instead. But on the other hand, if you are on the fence, this review might actually reassure you? The plot is more interesting than you think.

Student of the Year 2 Review (No Spoilers): A Very Good Movie for the Type of Movie It Wants to Be

If this is the kind of movie you like, you will like this movie. It was never going to be great realistic drama, it was always going to be light and fluffy. But if you are capable of enjoying light and fluffy films, this is one of the better ones.

TGIF: For Mother’s Day, Famous Mothers and Their Kids

I kind of skipped TGIF last week I think. I did the Star Wars post that was basically TGIF, but on Saturday. I’m doing it this week because I am on vacation an TGIF is pretty easy and quick to throw together. But maybe I skip again? I don’t know, when there are comments TGIF is really fun and good, but when there are no comments, the post just kind of lies there.
