Well, that was odd! A movie with a lot of depth and meaning and purpose that somehow got shrunk and diminished until it became meaningless and small and ugly. Huh. Oh, but the action scenes are still kind of fun, you should still watch it for that if you want.

Shahrukh Birthday Month Post: Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham Review, Shahrukh’s Love Defeats Amitabh’s Hate (Again)
Our last Shahrukh Month Review! So SAD!!!! There is still Jab Harry Met Sejal Day to look forward to on Sunday, but that won’t be a “new” movie to the blog. Oh well, there’s always the much less important holiday seasons of Diwali and Christmas to look forward to once Shahrukh Month is over.
Friday Classics: Eklavya, a Movie that Comes in Just at the Ending
Happy Friday! I managed to get through the week somehow! Well, almost, I’ve got one more day left. But yesterday was the day when the staff went from 4 to 1 (me). Today and Monday it will be back up to 2, and then by Tuesday it will be all the way to 4 again (woo).
First Thugs Song! Aamir is Short, and Amitabh is Tall
First song! Which is kind of “ho-hum” based on what we have seen. But still something fun and festive to talk about!
Songs to Sooth Me to Sleep
Well, I seem to have stopped sleeping. Through my own stupidity, so I am also very angry at my past self. Oh well, maybe I can stay up all night tonight and reset my internal clock.
Next Friday Classic Announcement: Eklavya, The Royal Guard, A Late Birthday Present for Amitabh
Have you ever wanted to see Amitabh, Vidya, Saif, Sanjay Dutt, Sharmila Tagore, Boman Irani, and Jackie Shroff all in the same movie? And all playing magnificent complex interesting roles? Then, this is the film for you!
Happy Birthday Amitabh!!!!! With Every Year, You Get More Experimental and Here is Proof
Oops, I almost forgot Amitabh’s Birthday! Oh well, better late than never. And instead of reposting the same old annual post, I am going to do something totally new, a post of songs of Amitabh not being afraid to loosen up and have a little fun as he gets older. While most men become more traditional and strict as they get older, Amitabh has become a little more wild and fun.
TGIF Repost in Honor of Thugs: Men and Women Emoting With Swords
This is such a good post, totally deserves to be updated and re-used. Especially so we can all prepare to compare these sword emotions with the Thugs sword emotions.
Friday Classics: Piku, A Story About Death
So glad I rewatched this movie! Especially after having seen October, so I can see what is unique to this film and what is just Shoojit Sircar. And, more importantly, what is just Deepika.
Thugs Trailer!!!!! Amitabh Has a SWORD!!!!! Aamir Has a Mustache!!!! The Women Have No Dialogue!
Well, this is exciting!!!! Amitabh has a sword, Aamir does NOT have a beard (thank goodness), and Katrina has no dialogue. Nor does Fatima, so I guess it’s a woman thing.
Thugs Motion Posters! What Do We All Think?
Well, the opening salvo of Thugs promotions has been fired. It’s no longer just the ramp up news stories teasing things, it’s the actual official motion posters. To be followed by teasers and then song teasers and then a trailer and then a barrage of interviews, and finally the film just as we become completely sick of hearing about it.
Friday Classics: Sarkar, When is the Moment to Stop Watching and Start Acting
Such a good movie! I always forget, and then I watch it again and it is even better than I remembered. Abhishek is perfect, Amitabh is perfect, Katrina is dubbed, it’s just what you want!
Happy Birthday Nagarjuna! Khuda Gawah, Your Only Movie on Netflix
I know this isn’t the best movie, in many ways. But it is a very enjoyable and memorable movie. And I’m sleepy and this is a movie I can write about without thinking to much. Because it doesn’t demand much thought.
TGIF: Patriotic! Stars in White, Orange, and Green
Well, it’s the Friday after Independence Day. I should do something patriotic, right? And all I can think of is the Indian colors. Oh well, good enough. My brain is fried after writing my two recent brilliant Hindi Film 101 pieces (read them! They are very good, even if they don’t have sexy photos and star gossip)
News Round-Up: Kamal flops, Amitabh Kajols, Dhruv Drives, Akshay Hera Pheris
Quick news report for you all. Not much for me to analyze, but hopefully lots for you to chew over as I spend the day with family/nursing my poor car along.
Rajan Nanda, Husband of Ritu Kapoor Nanda and Father-in-Law of Shweta Bachchan, has Passed Away
I don’t have much to say about this, because Rajan was a Delhi businessman, not a movie person. But I am irritated that it is being reported incorrectly in all the press, his Kapoor connection ignored in favor of his Bachchan one, and that is forcing me to write a post.
Hindi Film 101: Amitabh 2.0, ABCL to KBC
The final post in honor of Amitabh’s second birthday, bringing his life somewhere close to the present day.
Hindi Film 101: Rajiv Gandhi and Amitabh
In honor of his second birthday, I am reposting all my various Hindi Film 101 posts related to Amitabh. This one is mostly about Rajiv Gandhi, but I can’t talk about Rajiv without also mentioning his best friend since childhood, Amitabh(Nehru Gandhi part 1 here, part 2 here, part 3 here, part 4 here)
Hindi Film 101: The Chopras and Amitabh
Hindi Film 101: Amitabh and Rekha
This is the middle part of my Rekha series, the one most directly related to Amitabh. Almost all of this is based on This Book, which is a super fun read and if you like this post, you should go buy it and read it.
Happy 2nd Birthday Amitabh! The Coolie Incident, When You Died a Star and Were Reborn a God
Every August 2nd, Amitabh and his fans celebrate his “second” birthday, the day he came back to life after dying. So it is also a good time for me to repost my post explaining what that was all about and what happened.
Saturday Small Talk: What Are We All Thinking About Today?
Need a break from weekend fun? Have stuff that can’t wait for Monday to talk about? This is the place!
Friday Classics: Don 1 and 2, a Late Birthday Present for Priyanka
You have all been delightfully patient with my incredibly dull history of media series that I’ve been obsessed with for the past few days, but now it is all over and as a reward, I will do an intensive review of two movies that I suspect most of you have seen, and have opinions on.
Hindi Film 101: Star’s and the Masks They Wear and How to Talk About Them
I just got in trouble again, some more, for discussing and critiquing a star persona which was seen as critiquing the person behind it. Which made me start to think about how I define for myself the star persona versus the person behind it.
Hindi Film 101: The Basics of The Ambanis
I completely missed the coverage of the latest Ambani wedding, but I can leap in last minute to give the absolute basic bare bones information about the family for those of you who may not know about them. They are soooooooooooooo important in India, and yet tend to stay out of focus in the rest of the world, so you may not be aware of them if you live somewhere else.
