I am a bit over the “greatest tragedy in the world is a wealthy upper class man who just wants to be an artist” film trope. Which was probably clear from the title if this post. Indian, American, French, Norwegian, it’s all the same thing, and I am SICK OF IT. Good lord, just count your blessings and get over yourself.
I already put up my No Spoilers review. You can read that if you are obsessed with avoiding spoilers, or you can read this. It’s a remake, so most of the plot is already is to find out, not like I am revealing big secrets here.
Silly post, but I just got an email from the animal shelter foster listserve I am on and I have to share a joke with you. (Don’t worry, it’s a highly funded no-kill shelter, these little guys will get adopted in no time)
Well, this was not a good movie! But a not-good movie in that way where I could see the goodness struggling to break through, and then being suffocated by bad choices. Very frustrating, with a different cast and a slightly different script, this could have been something special.
It was so nice not reporting Priyanka news for years and years. But now she is back and I can’t escape her. And I really don’t like it, because it makes me sound a little mean and a lot crazy, but on the other hand, it is what it is and this is the only way to interpret it. Other stuff is more interesting though, so I can talk lots and lots about that and little little about PC.

I don’t have much to say about this, because Rajan was a Delhi businessman, not a movie person. But I am irritated that it is being reported incorrectly in all the press, his Kapoor connection ignored in favor of his Bachchan one, and that is forcing me to write a post.

Oh wow, this movie looks so good! I thought it was going to be some sort of kitschy come back thing just riding on Kajol’s popularity, but no, it looks really really good! All on its own. The script idea is great, and Kajol is the perfect person to carry it off.

This is a classic, but a fun classic. The kind of movie that you don’t want to pick at too much because then you will end up ruining it. Which means, yaaaay! Probably a short review.

I suddenly got one of my random Kannathil Muthamittal urges last night, and it made me think that I haven’t done a ten ugly crying films post yet. Wow, end of July is a good time for singers to be born! Sonu and then Rafi. Sonu I was at least able to make a start at listing all his important songs, Rafi I can’t even attempt that challenge. So don’t look at this as a comprehensive list, just a starting point.
I am getting more and more fond of Allu Arjun with every movie. He has this attitude like he is playing someone playing a movie hero, you know? It’s all just slightly exaggerated, and I love it.
I wrote this Fanfic ages ago and not many people read it. But I figure if it is ever going to get any attention, Harry Potter’s birthday is the best chance.

This is usually the day I do my box office report, but I went over to BH to get the numbers and ran into a bunch of news stories I thought I should talk about first. So box office is coming, eventually, but first news for us!
Interesting movie. Some of it I liked, some of it I didn’t, but most of all it had a middle aged working woman heroine going up against a young single guy antagonist! Very odd combination, very satisfying.
