And now I have to do an Priyanka story AGAIN just because I seem to be the only one doing the 10 seconds of research required to present it accurately. Why do you make me do this, Bollywoodhungama “reporters”??????? (and now you are thinking “why is Margaret complaining? it’s her own fault for reading BH.” And I know, you’re right.)
This is almost as indulgent as when I rewrote The Philadelphia Story. Who in this day and age and on an Indian film blog knows the movie All About Eve? To the point of remembering all the details of the characters and themes and stuff? Oh well, it makes me happy, and keeps me tied to me roots (my roots being American movies before 1960 which were what I watched exclusively for the first 18 years of my life). Anyway, Procrastinatrix suggested the idea, so I know she at least will be interested.
Fun movie, funny movie, intricate movie. I am really looking forward to digging up how it was put together! And I am really really looking forward to all of you helping me understand the ending. Oh, and if you haven’t seen it, get over to my No Spoilers review instead! You should read it anyway, because that’s where I talk about performances and stuff.
What a fun movie! I don’t totally love it as much as I totally love A Gentleman, but it is in the same family of humor. So I am going to take this moment, once again, to plug A Gentleman. If you like this movie, you will like that one! Oh, and you probably will like this movie. It is very likable.

I already put up my No Spoilers review. You can read that if you are obsessed with avoiding spoilers, or you can read this. It’s a remake, so most of the plot is already is to find out, not like I am revealing big secrets here.
Well, this was not a good movie! But a not-good movie in that way where I could see the goodness struggling to break through, and then being suffocated by bad choices. Very frustrating, with a different cast and a slightly different script, this could have been something special.
Rainy rainy rainy here. And, I assume, rainy rainy rainy there too. So heck, I’m gonna do rain stories. And rain makes me feel arty, so they will all be reflective little art movies.
Me me, I do I do!!!!! Anil should always play his own age, it’s the only way. I am excited enough that he is getting a post all to himself because there aren’t any other teasers/trailers out today I want to talk about.
Another review and another movie! I am being so productive this weekend. And this was a very different movie from Race 3.
So many videos while I was gone! Oh well, I will try to catch up with them all now, plus 5 Weddings because filmilibrarian asked for it.
I know the Venn diagram overlap of Preston Sturges and Indian film fans is very empty, possibly just contains me, but I don’t care! It’s “silly Sunday”, I can be silly and do whatever I want.
The actual awards list went up earlier, but we all know that doesn’t matter nearly as much as what people wore! Not even joking, in terms of people tuning in for the show, it’s all about who showed up and how big they went. And in terms of how seriously people are taking the awards, and their careers in Hindi film, it is also about how big they went (remember in 2016 Priyanka didn’t even come?)
This is partly based on a joking back and forth I had with my friend, partly based on a news story Asmita linked to in the comments, and partly based on everyone’s least favorite “actress”, Shraddha Kapoor.
More news! Going back to my post this morning, it really feels like Padmavat has been holding us hostage for the past 2 months. And now, suddenly freed, there is all kinds of news popping up all over, interesting news.
We’ve already talked a little about both these movies, but it felt like they deserved their own post so everyone can see and discuss them. And thus, this post!
Thanks to all this buzz about the remakes, I thought it would be a good time to stop and reflect on the original. Plus, counter-programming to the very male new releases this week, Spyder and Judwaa 2!
