I considered titling this “Suriya and his pecs”. Really, is there something I am missing here? He unbuttons his shirt so much! And it’s not to show off the six pack, it’s to show off his blossoming pectoral muscles.
This is one of those gossipy personal posts, ignore if you don’t care. But I had a surprisingly good day yesterday, followed by a surprisingly bad day today, and I need to brag/vent!
Since Ticket pointed it out in the comments, now I am suddenly very aware of the large cardboard box in the corner. Oh well, it’s worth it if it keeps the books my friend lent me in order and undamaged until I return them to her. And also reminds me to finish them so I can get them back. She let me the entire run of the Discworld Witches series! That’s a big deal! I shouldn’t forget.
It’s your monthly reminder to “pay” for content by promoting me! And that word-of-mouth is a way more effective method than anything else. Oh, but not if it gets you in trouble for repeating my opinions. And by the way, my Sacred Games reviews are exploding with views, so I am doing spectacular well in views at the moment. But almost no comments, which makes me guess 99.9% of those viewers aren’t really interested in joining the blog community and will be disappearing never to be seen again, so my numbers will drop back down again in a week.
Happy Monday! And Happy Dhadak week! I will probably NOT be watching it. Because I don’t want to and, more importantly, I will be out of town next weekend. So that’s one question answered, what else do you want to ask me?
Ashish in the comments suggested a list of sad dying people movies in honor of the Fault in Our Stars remake. And I am running with that! Oh, and SPOILERS, some of these films have a slow reveal, but if they are on this list, you will kind of know what they are about. On the other hand, I know there are some people who really love those sob-until-snot-runs-out kind of dying young films, and if you are looking for the best possible version in Indian film, this is what I have come up with.

Happy Sunday! I have to go lead a meeting at church in a bit, but first I get to be totally frivolous and ridiculous with the Silly Sunday stories. Hopefully I don’t mix this up with my meeting agenda and accidentally start reading it aloud.
I already put up my No Spoilers review, and this really is a good movie, so I would recommend skipping this review until after you watch it, if you are able to watch it. The trailer gives away the general outlines of the plot, but there is a lot more to it which deserves to be seen with fresh eyes, not spoiled by me.
This was such a nice movie! Not a perfect movie, a little confused in some parts, felt like the connective tissue was missing a bit, but overall a very nice movie.

Yet another part in my very dull series! But I can’t seem to stop myself, or even speed up. So indulge me as I creep forward decade by decade through the history of sequential visual content in America and India. Just be grateful I didn’t get into the details of movie serials to radio shows to American TV.
National Ice Cream Day is actually Sunday (ooo! FanFic theme?), but I am stealing it for today for TGIF. Because I love those “what food is your favorite star?” kind of posts!
The beauty of this movie, is that I can write about it very quickly. Because it is not worth a lot of words. The other beauty of this movie, is that 2 of the most attractive men in Indian film are in it, and also Rahul Khanna. And the third beauty of this movie is that it is smart enough to know how dumb it is. The best kind of dumb movie. And anyway, I have a semi-tradition of writing about bad movies on Friday the 13th.
I was thinking about how weird it was for Utkarsh Sharma to be a movie star, when his onscreen parents Ashmita Patel and Sunny Deol are still big active stars, and then I realized he wasn’t the only one to make this kind of a leap from childhood to adulthood. And then I realized this was an excuse to post a bunch of videos of cute small children, and why wouldn’t I do that?
None of this are super super exciting, but they fill out the day, so why not talk about them? Also, I want to vent about the Fanney Khan song.
This is one of those posts that says stuff we all probably already knew on some level but never said out right. So if you read the headline and went “oh yeah, I know everything about that”, don’t bother reading on. But if this is a new concept to you, I am here for you! Especially because Sacred Games has made it newly relevant.
It’s my sister’s birthday, YAAAAAAAY! As of 4 minutes ago EST. And this is her nice little bonus surprise gift, on top of her actual presents that have (hopefully) arrived in the mail.
Time for a Netflix update! Which I only do once a month or so, so it’s not up to the minute accurate. But hopefully I make up for that with the descriptions I give them. It’s my mother’s birthday!!!! Last year I did a nice in depth post, but this year I think just some fun birthday celebration happiness is the way to go.
New video day! So you can all admire how nice my braid looks. My sister bought me the same hairbrush she uses, and it is sooooooo much better. Brushing and braiding only takes half an hour now instead of an hour. Oh, and Dog Hazel is there at the beginning, and then got bored and walked away to play with her wibble-wobble.
This is one of those cool coincidences. The two brilliant directors of Indian film, one from Bombay and one from the south, were born exactly 5 years apart to the day. There is something special about July 9th. And, just to put the cherry on top, one of the most brilliant actors in Hindi film history was also born on July 9th.
Happy Monday! I had a weird weekend, mostly binging Netflix shows and sleeping weird. It was nice, I’ve had way too busy weekends lately, I needed a hunker in and stay home kind of weekend to make up. And now I am back at work, trying to function.
I just spent the entire weekend with Sacred Games, first watching it and then writing about. Which has me thinking about other options for multi-season Netflix style miniserieses that I want to see.
