New Ae Dil Hai Mushkil Video! Is It Possible This Whole Thing Is About a Love For Coats?

New Ae Dil Hai Mushkil song video!  Which shows new clips, but they don’t really reveal anything we didn’t already know.  Except, so many coats!  I’m really excited for coat weather now.

Bhavum: My Favorite Character Actress Gets to be a Star

I don’t quite know what to think about this movie.  They left a lot of things open and a lot of things to our imagination, and there are no easy answers in it.  But what I know for sure is, I love Mita Vasisht and am thrilled I finally got to see her in a lead role, instead of just showing up and giving awesome advice for a few minutes, and then going away.

Happy Birthday Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay! You would be 140 If You Weren’t Dead!

It’s Sarat’s birthday!  Which is as good an excuse as any to put up a post with some of the pretty pretty songs from the movies based on his novels. (if you really want to party hearty, check out my 4 separate Devdas posts here, here, here, and here)

Ormayundo Ee Mukham: Good People Dealing With a Bad Situation

What a pleasant film!  Everything isn’t perfect, but if everyone works together they can make it perfect.  Well, almost.  But the big message is everyone working together and dealing with a bad situation as best as they can.

Important News Update: AbRam is Cute

And so is his father!  And also a bit of a tech nerd, have you noticed that since he discovered instagram, Shahrukh has been posting a lot of videos that are kind of like the ones your dorky uncle posts after his son shows him how to use the video tools?  But more interesting, because it’s a movie star.

New Production House On the Horizon! Strange Name, Good Business Plan

“Ellipsis Entertainment”.  Really?  Trying saying that outloud.  Doesn’t your mouth kind of stumble over it?  It looks good, and it’s a nice idea, that the leave out the unnecessary bits, and I am assuming their logo will be some variation on “…”, but can you really say it ten times fast?

Action Jackson: A Manga Crossed With Tarentino and Mixed to a Southern Beat

This was just a fun, silly movie!  Which was perfect, because I had a friend over and she said “I’ve had a bad day, let’s watch a fun silly movie.”  My first vote was Dil Aashna Hai, but she wanted something a little more current, so we ended up with Action Jackson.  Which I somehow missed in theaters and hadn’t gotten around to seeing since.

Happy Onam! I Just Started with Malayalam Films, So Forgive the Shortness of the Post!!!

I know this is a huge holiday and there most be hundreds of songs about it.  But I’ve only been watching Malayalam films for less than a year, so I know very very few of them.  Forgive me!  And feel free to mention some better ones in the comments.

Baar Baar Box Office and Aamir’s New Look!

Global figures are out for Baar Baar!  And Bollywoodhungama says that they are “dismal”, but I’m not seeing it?  But maybe that’s just because I am missing some extra information, like how big was the budget and how much were the distribution rights sold for.  Oh, and also a new weird photo of Aamir

Maheshinte Prathikaaram: Sometimes You Just Need to Be Hit Over the Head

Is that a saying in India? “Hit over the head”?  It’s something my mother says a lot, “he needed to be hit over the head before he started to….”.  Like, it takes getting frostbite on your ears to learn that you should wear a hat when it’s cold out.  Or, getting an F before you learn to study before a test. Which is what happens to our hero here, he has to get a literal blow to the head before he starts learning.

Baar Baar Dekho Full Summary/Review!!! SPOILERS! Was That Too Much Plot or Too Little?

I already posted my non-spoilers review, now it’s time for the Spoilers one!  I’m going to also try to go through the whole film real quick point by point, so you can follow my reasoning even if you haven’t had a chance to see it yet.  Or if you don’t want to see it, but you want to know what happened. (second half through to the ending available here)

Happy (?) September 11: How Does it Look From India

This is sort of an odd post to make.  Obviously, as an American, I have a very complex and personal and emotional relationship to 9/11.  For one thing, it’s also my Grandpa’s birthday (95 today!).  But I want to set aside the American part of it for a post, and take a quick look at how Indian film has struggled with the changes 9/11 brought on the world. (obviously, all kinds of trigger warnings and I understand if no one wants to read this post, but I felt like I should make it)
