The Shivaay love song just came out. And, thank goodness, I think it explains what’s going on with one of the three very very young heroines. And possibly one of the other ones as well.
1:Nenokkadine : Almost Too Many Good Ideas for One Film to Contain
This was such a good movie. SUCH A GOOD MOVIE!!! All these cool concepts and visuals and ideas! Really, the only flaw was that there were too many good ideas, it was kind of overwhelming.
Happy Kareena’s Birthday/I’ve Been Doing A Lot of Non-Hindi Posts: Jab We Met!
I know I’ve been cranking through a ton of non-Hindi reviews lately, and I feel kind of bad, because not everyone has seen those movies. Plus, it’s Kareena’s birthday! So, what better day to talk about my favorite Kareena movie?
Happy Birthday Kareena Kapoor! 36 Reasons I Love You!
Happy Birthday Bebo! Let’s see if I can come up with a full 36 reasons to love you! I think I probably can.
I’m Psychic! Big Plagiarism Story Days After my Plagiarism Post!
This is so cool! It’s like I can control the universe! We’ll know for sure if there is an announcement of a new SRKajol movie in the next few days. Or a new movie about horses.
Rithu: Is It Wrong That I Sympathize With the Wrong People?
What an interesting movie! I read that it is supposed to be the start of the new age films, but it actually reminded me a lot more of Aalkkoottathil Thaniye. And other films I’ve seen from that classic 90s/late 80s era.
SRKajol Videos, Because I Just Remembered Jaati Hoon Main
I put up a post earlier today about the new Mirzya trailer and how it reminded me of “Jaati Hoon Main”. Which just got me in the mood to watch more SRKajol videos!
Hollywood Gossip So Big I am Actually Reporting it!!!!!
I really don’t care most of the time about what happens in the American gossip news. I mean, after getting used to the crazy rumors that fly around in the Indian film industry, all the American gossip just seems kind of bland. But there are two stories today that are so big, I actually care about them!!!
Box Office Report: Pink is a Hit! (Really?)
As you may have noticed, I did not see Pink. It just looks toooooooooooooooo depressing! Plus, I wanted to see a Malayalam movie for Onam. But, even though there is no Pink review here for you, I will still give you Pink box office figures.
New Mirzya Song! Horses!!!
Yes, I am going to do a post for every Mirzya song video. Because they are all SO GOOD!!! Much better than the movie as a whole will be, I am sure.
Arth: Wow, I Don’t Think I Could Make a Film This Honest About My Life!
It’s still Mahesh Bhatt’s birthday! I celebrated by finally watching Arth. Well, most of Arth, I think I may have ended up with a slightly edited version.
Happy Birthday Mahesh Bhatt! King of the A++ Movie and the C Movie, but Never B!
Happy Birthday Mahesh! 68 years old today! And been directing films for the past 42 of those years. And half your movies are searingly intimate and real and incredibly high quality. And half of them are very low quality. What an interesting balance! Anyway, here’s my traditional 12 reasons I love you!
Monday Morning, Time for Questions! Ask Anything Here!
I tried this last week, and it seemed to work out all right. Of course, that could just be because my long time readers got all their burning questions answered then. But just in case you have more questions, or I have new readers, I’m trying it again!
Shahid and Mira imitate Aditya and Rani, So Do Soha and Kunal
Okay, not in the same way, but both couples just announced a new move that Aditya and Rani did first. Truly, Adi and Rani are the leading couple of Hindi film!
Rakesh Roshan Gives Shahrukh a Christmas Present
A news item from Times of India! I am shocked! Usually they are far behind on the news, or far ahead (a nice way of saying “reporting unverified gossip”). But this time they scooped Bollywoodhungama on a big story!
Oozham Review (SPOILERS!!!): Some Nice Bits, But Not a Lot of Them
I already put up my non-spoiler quick little review. This is the bigger one with lots of plot details. I won’t be doing the full summary, like I do sometimes, but I will be revealing all the plot high points. So if you are kind of curious about this movie, but not curious enough to spend the money and time going to a theater, read this! Normally I try to encourage people to see the movie anyway, but in this case, I can sincerely say, “don’t bother, just read this.”
Swara Bhaskar About Smita Patil and Katrina Kaif
Smita and Shabanaji were long rumored to be professional rivals, kind of a Juhi-Madhuri thing. No personal component, I never heard about them fighting over the same man or anything like that. But some semi-nasty remarks passed in the press. And now, the feud continues, long after death! I am posting about Smitaji on Shabana’s birthday.
Happy birthday Shabana Azmi!
Happy Birthday Shabana Azmi! Did not realize you are the same age as my mother! Here are 18 reasons I love you, in honor of being born on September 18th!
Oozham (NO SPOILERS): Because I Couldn’t See Oru Muthassi Gadha
This was…..fine? A couple of clever ideas in the script (could tell it came from the same mind as Drishyam), Prithviraj did a good job (of course), and I guess the action was all right? But it was just sort of missing something.
Watch a Movie with me Tomorrow!
I’m doing another live twitter watchalong! Just like I did for Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham a few months back (click here to see how that went)! This time, Kal Ho Na Ho! Which is available in American Netflix, as well as most streaming services. It will be at 10am Chicago time tomorrow, which is 8:30pm on Sunday the 18th India time, 1am Australia time (sorry Australia people), 11am New York time, and 8am California time. Join in by searching for the hashtags #KHNH (for Kal Ho Na Ho) or #DCIB (for my book, Don’t Call it Bollywood, which this is nominally promoting. And which you should all read! It’s really good!).
Let’s Look at Some Romances of Consumerism!
Another ad post! I just keep finding awesome ones! Also, I realized I still hadn’t posted the epic Ponds Saif and Priyanka series, which rivals the Anthony Stewart Head (yes, from Buffy) Taster’s Choice ads from England in its romantic scope.
Shahid Gives Vidya Balan the Disease That Killed Yashji!!!
Was that headline sufficiently exciting for you? It’s a pretty exciting story, I have to say! Or at the very least, odd!
Innathe Chintha Vishayam: A Pleasant Unambitious and Quietly Radical Film
I gave in! I re-upped my Netflix DVD subscription! Just because they have 2 dozen Malayalam films listed, and I am so sick of dropping subtitle files onto youtube videos, or waiting for international shipments, or paying $2.99 for googleplay videos, or squinting at eithusan on my laptop screen. Anyway, now I am cranking through all the random films Netflix happens to have available. Like this one!
Rishi Hits Back (metaphorically and literally)
I had a whole back and forth in my head about whether or not to talk about this story, but then Rishi came out with a statement, so now it feels like fair game.
Hey! I Know That Song: Some Random American Songs Re-purposed in India
I’m not going to say “stolen”, because it comes so close to the line of theft, and then they slow it down and mix it up and it turns into something else entirely that is kind of original. So I’m going to go with “re-purposed” instead.
