Headline is, there was a Grand Trailer Launch about 5 hours ago, press and stars and all, and then the trailer hit youtube and industry folks tweeted it. And then the trailer was pulled from youtube by the studio and is no longer available and no one knows why. What the heck????

But there’s also another fun “Manikarnika is a disaster from which none of us can escape” quote from set, and a “oh Karan, don’t even pretend this isn’t nepotism” story about Janhvi.
Ready for me to be grumpy? Sometimes I just am, I read these news stories and think “everyone is stupid and gullible!” and it bothers me.
Such a good movie! And such an interesting movie, a challenging movie, because it deals with the birth of a monster and how society was culpable in his birth, without also forgiving him for what he did or pretending he is less than what he was.
We have now entered the stage of the news cycle when the actual thing gets hidden under people talking about the thing, and then people talking about talking about the thing. So, fine, I will contribute to the talking about talking about with the only exchange I find particularly remarkable. Other people said eloquent things, wrong things, right things, and so on. It’s just that this exchange is so odd, I can’t help but repeat it so you can tell me “no, you’re right, it is odd!” And so it can also serve as a reminder of the kind of public discourse that somehow goes without comment in the Hindi film industry.

This is another old post, but one that is relevant again today as we are reminded both of how aggressive women have to be to get their fair due, and how dangerous it is to make demands, thanks to Kangana and Tanushree Dutta.
Lovely, for Gandhi Jayanti we get a big war film. Which is pretty common actually, or at least an action film, it’s a family holiday and action films can bring in the whole family. Plus, patriotism!
Happy Monday! After my super productive weekend (I did everything but hang the new towel rack), regular work feels like a bit of an anti-climax. So, distract me! Ask me questions!
I finally found out how to spell “coup d’etat”! Thanks to a comment, because spellcheck and google certainly weren’t going to help me. As my German teacher used to tell me, French is a silly language where nothing is spelled the way it sounds. To the degree that I can’t even get close enough to google it.
Happy Monday! I had an exhausting weekend, my sister and brother-in-law were in town, we all drove up to the family place and helped Mom and Dad do hard manual labor to get it closed up for the fall. Always so much news on Saturday! Which is nice, because it is easy to write these posts and then I don’t have to think of anything new.
This is a continuation of a post I put up on Wednesday. Turns out, almost every day of the month in September has a food attached to it (food lobbyists/publicists have way too much time and money). So then all I had to do was figure out which actor matches the food. I was a wee bit mean on Wednesday, I am feeling less mean today, but we will see if the meanness rises up in me again.
Oh there is FUN STUFF today!!!!!!! Talk about contract disputes and filming hierarchies, my favorite! Oh, and also terrible gossip that lets us feel like better people than celebrities and gives that little “zing” of excitement from conspiracy theories.
Well, this is a nice little promising collection of stories on upcoming films! Everything looks good today.
