Bumping along to part 3 of my detailed summary. I like doing it this way, because that way I can remember all the little bits and pieces I thought of while I was watching the movie. I’ve seen Sultan twice now, and looking at a possible 3rd time sometime this week, but for those of you who can’t see it, or can only see it once, or saw it and are trying to remember everything that happened, I am going to try my best to remember everything I saw and write it all down for you.

There is slightly more news today than yesterday, but not much. The items that jumped out at me were the ones that called back to the 1990s.
I like Alok Nath as much as the next person, but he’s not normally the type who would get a birthday post. But it’s a slow news day, I feel like throwing up a video post, so why not! Plus, he’s turning 60, so it’s a big one! Here are 12 reasons I love you, 1 for every 5 years you’ve been alive!
It’s time to start my traditional full summary shot by shot and scene by scene of the movie I just saw in the theater! Sometimes these can be incredibly long (like Fan) as I get distracted by backstory and metaphors and references and stuff. And sometimes they can be really short, because there just isn’t that much to talk about (like Rocky Handsome). In this case, I honestly don’t know how much I will have to say, so I’m just going to start and see how fast I go!

Now that Sultan is over, time to start getting excited for the next big Khan release! Which will be SRK in October, the way things look now.
Everyone opted for more of a family party this year. Which I understand on like a personal level, I also would prefer to celebrate big holidays with just family. But I resent it on a film news level, because I want more pictures of people in fancy outfits arriving for big parties! At least to make up for it, all 3 Khans went out for a viewing and photo.
I already put up a spoiler-free review, and I’ll be putting up a full summary over the next few days, but in the meantime here are my spoiler-y thoughts.

I saw Sultan! Yaaaaaaay! It lived up to my expectations. It did not exceed my expectations, but it did live up to them.
Although it is Salman Day, and Ranveer’s Birthday, I thought I should acknowledge the “real” holiday with a post of my favorite religious songs. (Also, I am 95% sure all these songs are appropriate. But if a miss-translated a lyric or something, and one of them is more secular than religious, let me know right away so I can pull it out of a post where it doesn’t belong)
Happy Sultan Day! I have my tickets already for the 7 o’clock show, planning to get there half an hour early so I can get a good seat. But in the meantime, let’s have some Salman songs to get us in the holiday mood!
What is up today? I was all set to do a couple of video posts for Eid and Salman, and then a Sultan review at midnight when I finally got home. And then pop pop pop, all these news stories come up! Ranveer, and now a new Mohenjo Daro video!
It’s Eid, Sultan day, and I just learned it is also Ranveer’s birthday! Don’t worry, they will all get their own posts. But I’ll start off with Ranveer. 31 reasons to love him!
I finally watched Patiala House, after missing it in theaters 5 years ago and never really getting around to seeing it since then. I was original watching it thinking it would be an interesting comparison with Sultan (both sports movies with Anushka), but it turned out to be so good that I wanted to give it a full post. Even though we are in the middle of Salman Sultan week and it might get kind of buried. Because, wow! This is a legitimately powerful movie!
This is entirely from the Hindustan Times which has done an amazing job laying (lying?) out the new realities of the box office for big ticket films. You should absolutely check out that full article, because it is fascinating! I just have a few things to add to it.
Sultan‘s coming out tomorrow, woo! Which means I can’t put it off any londer, I have to deal with the one part of the film I am really really not looking forward too: Randeep Hooda.
Yay! There is a real poster for Dangal! Not just that strange Aamir coming out of the dirt thing we got months ago. And it looks strangely Disney. Oh, and also a trailer for Akira, which does NOT look Disney.
Okay, there is no connection between Sultan and Ghajini except in my mind. But it suddenly hit me that the thing I like best about Ghajini might be similar to what Sultan will do.
Happy 4th of July! I am celebrating by locking my doors and fervently ignoring the massive celebration going on at the end of my street. It’s just so hot! And crowded and loud and blech! Instead, I am going to have a little song festival of American-themed Indian movie songs. As always with these posts, if I missed one you like, just mention it in the comments!
Thanks to a commentator’s recommendations of important Salman movies, I just watched Garv: Pride and Honor. I am so glad I did! Because it is important not just as a Salman movie (I am thinking this was a big turning point as he went from romantic hero to action hero?), but as a perfect example of the modern Indian action movie. Which is why it is good to see before Sultan, since this is the standard that Sultan will be breaking away from.
We are now almost a week into all Salman coverage (because Sultan has got me all excited!), but I decided it was time to take a break and slip in a Malayalam review, just for a change. And I picked the least Salman-y film of them all, Ozhimuri, all about the Matrilineal system.
Sultan week continues! Today, let’s talk about Sultan and Ek Tha Tiger! The one other time Salman worked with Yash Raj Studios.
Big news! Kareena and Saif just confirmed their pregnancy! Yaaaaay! I guess? I mean, it seems like something they both want, so it is nice that it is happening. Although I will miss Kareena onscreen.
Salman isn’t actually a wrestler or anything in this, but there are soooooooo many fight scenes! And I kind of feel like I am getting a glimpse of what life was like in the Khan household when all the boys were young. I’m picturing lots and lots of wrestling and fake fighting between brothers.
Happy Doctor’s Day! Which I only know about from Amitabh’s twitter. Which is true of so many things, Amitabh really does tweet about everything.
