This is something I discovered a year ago and am trying to make my peace with. Goofing off on internet time goes down for people between Thanksgiving and Christmas. And thus, my blog feels suddenly like a bit of a ghost town. But this year, I am leaning into it!
Well, huh. This is a weird thing. A legitimate real paid writer took one of my ideas and put in a little hyperlink to it and used it in their legitimate paid writing, and then Karan Johar re-tweeted and appreciated it. So, a compliment? But also a bit of “I wish I could get paid for my ideas”. Oh well.
I already put up my part 1, which I am sure was not fully accurate and certainly not complete. But it is my stab at somehow pulling together what little I know into a cohesive whole, in the hopes that it starts a conversation and I can learn more from you all.
Well, I did it! I finally finished my Rajinikanth biography! Now I just have the Savitri, Hema Malini, and Shashi Kapoor biography on my to do pile. Plus various other film books that aren’t star memoirs. Anyway, now I am ready to very tentatively try to put together some kind of narrative of Rajinikanth’s life, based on the movies I have watched (far more than I realized!), and this book, and information I gathered elsewhere
Happy Wednesday! I am so excited to get through this week. And at the end of it, 2.0!!!! Probably on Saturday. I am moderately interested in it, but not $25 ticket interested. So I’m waiting for the cheap Saturday matinees.
The Mahabharat is so complex, each character is the lead in their own story, and each character (of the many many characters) could easily have their own post. But I am going to restrain myself and just focus on the two most intriguing (to me) characters of the epic who are not part of the Pandavas or the Kauravas, Krishna and Karna.
I finally saw Robot! I think it might be one of those movies that you miss out too much if you don’t watch it at the exact right moment. Watching it now, just a few years later, the special effects seem dated, the song sequences not so great, and even Rajni Sir’s performance is not as good as it could be. Remember, I am coming off of seeing him in Kabali, where he not only played his age, he played a layered real complicated version of himself. I mean, this performance is great, the best part of the movie for sure, but I kept thinking “why are you doing this when I know you could do so much better?”
I love Christmas, and I love Fanvids, but unfortunately it is very rare for the two of them to come together. But I do what i can! And what little I found is all in this post. (this is a reposted post)
This is mostly just because there is one news story here that is so perfectly crafted to make frequent commentator Angie very angry that I couldn’t resist it. And then I threw in two others just to fluff up the post.
Okay, it’s the really really complicated one! And it’s supposed to be complicated, the Mahabharat is a challenge to us to understand the complexities of the world and the choices we make in it.
It really would! Especially if you have been trying to explain to your family and friends why you like these movies and take them seriously. Let me make the explanation for you! It will save you so much energy and anger. Or, you can buy it as a Christmas gift to yourself, and then have handy talking points all ready for all the family gatherings.

Happy Monday! My life is finally in order thanks to the 4 day weekend. If I had one of these every month, I would always be on top of everything. Phew! Now, with all my excess energy and time, I can happily answer all your questions.
Oh my, that was a tearjerker! And not in a forced obvious way, but just because it’s so sad, and so happy at the same time. And I am so glad Karan eased them through it and now the first interview is done and they have it behind them.
Next Sunday, a fun one! A very irreverent one from the 70s, great comedy, great casting, great everything.
Yaaaay! One of my all time favorite movies! I really hope some of you like it enough to talk about it, or (even better) where inspired to watch it because I scheduled this post. It’s so good! And no one ever talks about it!

Happy first Sunday of Advent! Naturally, I had to do a Christmas themed post (to match my Christmas themed TGIF post). I briefly considered doing unmarried mothers in honor of Mary, but then I decided to think small instead and use the random small items of Christmas as jumping off points for story ideas.
Fun fun! Song songs! I don’t know how these movies will be, but the songs are really lovely. Too bad it’s after Thanksgiving so I am not allowed to listen to anything but Christmas music until the 26th (allowed by myself, I have very strict rules for me).
This is a silly silly post. But whatever, I’m exhausted from 3 days of hard house labor and I am guessing the 50% of my readers who are American are either exhausted from that, or from travel. So let’s all be silly together!

Happy Day After Day After Thanksgiving! I am so happy to still have a day off, I wish every week was a 4 day weekend and only 3 days of work. I am getting so much done! And also, for once, enough sleep!
