Almost missed this one! Which isn’t that big of a deal, JP Dutta is important but not THAT important. All of these are more “controversies” than actual controversies, the very definition of a tempest in a teapot. But if I mush them all together into one post, then they are worth discussing.
I said “historic monument” as a joke about Mannat, but that’s actually what the controversy is about! Mannat’s historic status.

This was not the best movie to watch the same time as Pink. Or maybe it was the best movie to watch? It certainly helped highlight exactly why Pink is groundbreaking! And yes, I know, it’s another one that wasn’t recommended, but it’s the last one on the Netflix list. And I really hope it isn’t the first Malayalam movie anyone watches, because ENRAGING!!!!

I am the India chair for the Midwest Popular Culture Association, our annual conference is next weekend(October 6th-9th) in Rosemount, just outside Chicago near O’Hare. Yaaay! The biggest scandal of the year keeps rolling on! This makes me so happy. News about UTV going bankrupt and casting announcements are fun, but I need the nice juicy gossip every once in awhile to keep me going.
I still haven’t seen Force 1. I’m ashamed and all that, but I missed it in theaters and then I spoiled myself for the ending and it sounded like kind of a downer, so I skipped it on DVD. But Force 2 looks pretty good, so maybe I will make myself watch Force 1 so I am all caught up.
Not too many songs for this occasion, peaceful non-violence isn’t necessarily the most cinematic thing to watch, but I’ll see what I can do! (Bhagat Singh’s birthday was a lot easier)
I already put up the kind of dull industrial news for the day, but there was some other news, of the more personal and gossipy variety.
Happy Navratri! So many holidays in the fall! Which is great, gives me something to post about.
I’m not sure how much of this I believe, but at least some parts of it seem easy to verify, and it’s interesting to think about how else they could be interpreted.
I saw MS Dhoni: the Untold Story! My first opening night movie since Akira! It was so nice to be back in a crowded theater with whistles and crying kids and all the other good things.

Yesterday I reported that rumor that Salman called Raj Thackeray to ask for mercy for Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and Raees for the good of the film industry. Today, following up on that, Salman really really put his neck on the line.
Tiny little news, but worth it because it gives me an excuse to put up a pretty pretty John Abraham photo. Which, frankly, is probably why Bollywoodhungama posted it too.
So I just had a friend over to hang out and watch songs and watch me make pumpkin bread. And I was showing her a bunch of the stuff I had discovered since the last time she came over. And she recognized one of the songs!
I know nothing about this and had never heard of it, but moviemavengal passed it on to me and told me to answer these questions, and I trust moviemavengal! So I will do my best (plus, helps me get to a thousand posts before the year is out!).
I am celebrating by NOT having coffee! Because it’s Thursday, and I never have coffee on Thursdays. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, yes. And then I detox for two days, sleep all weekend, and get back on the horse again on Monday. Anyway, I thought it would be a good topic for a theme songs post.

I was sailing along through this movie, dum-de-dum, more or less seeing where it was going, and then BAM! The last half hour hits, and everything changes! Such an odd experience! Kind of like when you miss the last step on the stairs.
I’m tired of sifting through the news to find the stories that are confirmed and reliable and also seem believable based on previous news stories! I’m going wild and reporting a bunch of completely unverified stuff that people made up because it sounds good!
