Chandrettan Evideya: Billed as a Comedy about Infidelity, Actually a Comedy about Reincarnation!

This was a so-so movie.  Unless I am missing some deeper level.  But I am pretty sure it just made its way onto my list because of Namitha Pramod, no deeper reason.  It’s a fine movie, with a couple of original ideas, but that’s kind of it.

Happy Birthday Lataji!!! (How are there so many birthdays in 2 days!!!)

I just finished my three part Yash Chopra post, and then Ranbir Kapoor pops up, and now Lata!  Gah!  Stop being born, people!  Anyway, Lata will have to be content with 16 reasons I love her for the 16 notes in the Indian scale.  I’m not doing another 80+ after I just did it for Yashji.

Happy Birthday Ranbir Kapoor!

Happy Birthday Ranbir!  I’m not giving you 33 reasons, because you haven’t been in enough movies for me to come up with them!  Plus, I am worn out after my 84 for Yash Chopra.  But, I will give you 12!  And maybe, if Ae Dil Hai Mushkil is really good, you will earn 34 for next year.

Happy Birthday Yash Chopra! Part 3, my final reasons to love you (plus Ravi’s Birthday too): 55-84

No one is reading these posts, but I don’t care!  It’s Yash Chopra’s birthday, I love Yash Chopra, and watching his songs and reading about him for this just cheers me up.  Part 1 here, and Part 2 here.

Sushmita and Mosquitos, Siddharth Roy Kapur and the Presidency, Karan and Protestors, and BAHUBALI!!!!

I thought there was news today, but then  I dug into it, and yeah, there’s no news.  It’s just rumors and suppositions with famous names thrown in to make me click the link.  Oh well.

Happy Birthday Yash Chopra Part 2! 32 through 55!

Okay, let’s do this!  Possibly nobody but me cares as much about Yashji, but come on!  The man invented a whole genre of film!  Founded the only studio still on firm financial ground!  Created generations of stars!  He deserves 84 reasons to love him on his birthday.  Even if they are mostly songs. Part 1 here and Part 3 here.

India’s Oscar Entry: Once Again, a Film I Have Never Heard Of

It’s not nearly as egregious as choosing Jeans (seriously, what were they thinking?) or choosing nothing the year Pinjar and Tehzeeb and Main Madhuri Dixit Banna Chahti Hoon came out, but it’s still got that little tinge of “wait, what?” which always comes with these announcements.

Loins of Punjab: Seriously, SO MUCH BETTER THAN THE TITLE!!!!

I just watched this movie for the 4th time, and it is still So. Good!  And such a hard sell!  I’ve seen it 4 times partly because people will only watch it if I sit next to them and force them to.  Because the title alone really isn’t enough to sell it.

Badshah and Aunties, Shahrukh and Wet Shirts, and Other Things That Make Me Happy

Somehow, it is both rainy and overcast, and also 90 degrees out today.  And Banjo isn’t playing anywhere near me, so I don’t get to see a new movie tonight.  And generally life is bleak and depressing.  So, here is a random collection of recent news items that make me happy.  Feel free to bookmark this post for the next time you feel down!

Positive: Not the Greatest Movie

As I have mentioned already, I just re-activated my Netflix discs and immediately requested every Malayalam film they have available.  Which means I am going to end up with some stinkers.  This one wasn’t bad, but it also wasn’t very good, or interesting.  But not quite bad enough that I could justify stopping in the middle (it takes a lot for me to stop in the middle of a movie).

International Day of Peace Post: One Day Late

Totally missed this holiday!  And it’s almost as much fun to find songs for as International day of Dance!  I think I’m going to just lean hard into the Shanti theme to start with, maybe I’ll try to do something more meaningful next year.  Also, maybe next year I will remember on the actual day.
