I’m getting a little better at this, checking the news stories. Still not great, I’m still only using one source which is terrible, and I still don’t have a ton of background on things. But I’m getting there!
I am still just gently dipping my toe back in the news pool, so I expect you in the comments to provide more information and background than I have after skimming headlines for the first time in a week. But there are some stories just too big to miss!
Well isn’t this nice! A bunch of new trailers for me to pick over. Some with more info than others, so you will have to help me fill in the gaps in the comments.
THANK GOODNESS, promotions are starting up again for things. Otherwise, I have no content! Although, just you wait in about 3 weeks when we are drowning in “first looks” and “teaser trailers” for everything for the holiday season, I will be complaining about having too much content and not enough time. But today is not that day!
Have you noticed I’ve been doing slightly more of those “this is my life in song form” posts? It’s partly because my fall is getting busier and busier and there are some days when all I have time to do is tell you all what I have been doing instead of blogging. And partly because I’ve been blogging for almost 2 years now and I feel like you are all my friends, so why not tell you about my life? Anyway, if you are bored by these posts, just skip to the end for the streaming news you should know.
I used to do news posts all the time, remember? The problem is, I can only provide legitimate commentary if I am constantly on top of things. And I just ran out of time to check 3 different news sources everyday and be that aware of every little thing. So the only news posts I can do are boring factual ones, and then you guys have to provide the commentary in the comments. (this post comes to you from a Wisconsin public library, turns out I can’t resist blogging even while out of town)
This is essentially a joint post. I am not lucky enough to have a copy of this book, but Gwen from the comments is and put up excerpts for us from each section. YAAAAAY! I want to post them here to make sure you all see them, and also add on what I can, that is, a little more background information about each film/director.
Thank you Aamir! Both for releasing a song timed so I can watch it before leaving for work, and for telling me in advance what time you would be releasing it so I could plan around that! Of course, I still had to write the actual post, but I can do that anywhere. Oh, and thank you Dhawans for giving us such fun songs! Twice!

Well, that was a terrible terrible very fun book! I believe essentially not one word of it, but BOY was it fun to read! Oh, and it also taught me nothing about the film industry, just a lot about Anu (who wasn’t really in the industry for that long).
Well, this is FASCINATING! It didn’t hit me until I watched the Chef trailer and then the new Judwaa 2 song right next to each other, but they are both remakes! In ways that couldn’t be more different. A sign that the industry doesn’t know if it should look back, or look out for the new hit.
Well, trailer time is upon us again. We had that little burst during Ramadan, then everything kind of slowed down a bit as JHMS and Toilet dominated the news cycles. But now they are successfully running in theaters, so we can all focus on what’s coming up after them. Two big things out today, full Secret Superstar song and Judwaa 2‘s first trailer. Oh, and Bhoomi came out a few weeks back, I just never got around to writing about it.
Let’s through out a nice general discussion type post! For those of you who aren’t interested in my scene by scene of JHMS or Monday Malayalam or Tuesday Tamil. We can all talk about Ajay Devgn’s midlife crisis and how increasingly charming Siddharth and Kriti are looking in comparison.
Accessbollywood.net does the real work of keeping this list updated, if you want a day by day update, subscribe to them. My update is only like once a month or so when I feel like it. But it does give some tips on what to watch and what not to watch, so that’s helpful! I hope.
Remember yesterday when I was driven to an existential crisis by the way the release of “Phurr” kept being delayed and delayed? Well, googling around today revealed there is a fascinating industry story behind it. “Phurr” is being publicized as the first song to be released behind a “paywall”. Which isn’t actually true, but that’s another story. (also, it’s on iTunes now, but also on Saavn, if you pay for the app like I do, you can download and listen as much as you want)
Okay, Aamir, you’ve won me over. After seeing that teaser over and over and over and over again, the trailer added enough new to it that I am interested.
I feel like I have used this example before, but I can’t remember what for. Anyway, the new song from Jab Harry Met Sejal is (supposedly) coming ever closer to us. And yet I find myself thinking, “will it ever actually arrive? Or is this a Xeno’s paradox situation?” (and also, once again, I should not go on twitter!)
Be aware, there is almost no content to this post. It’s just a funny photo that my friend showed me, and another photo I found for myself as a bonus. And a third thing that looks like news, but actually isn’t. (if you want content, check out my Jab Harry Met Sejal series)
Trailers! Not terribly exciting ones, but I am so desperate for content that I will take it. And at least the Farhan one raises some interesting questions about coincidence versus copying (in other words, it has the same plot as Qaidi Band and I don’t know why).
Well, now Shahrukh is just super super mad at me. Could he tell I’ve been cheating on him with Nivin Pauly and Madhavan? Anyway, he not only posted this without subtitles, he posted it at the exact moment I was leaving for work, meaning I couldn’t watch it until just now. If he had posted it as little as 15 minutes earlier, I would have been all set! See, clearly jealous and hurt. I’m sorry Shahrukh! I will never stray again!
Last night I went the North American Film Awards, which are essentially the Malayalam IIFAs. So, the IIFAs without any backup dancers or rehearsals, but with a lot of really detailed eloquent speeches and as much applause for the directors as their was for the stars. And in a theater which is about the same size as a high school auditorium, and wasn’t even sold out. But that’s not important, what’s important is I got stuck trying to get out of the parking lot because I was blocked in by NIVIN PAULY!!!!
Mad at me, but still willing to help, having sensed that my blog views were way way down over the past few days, he provided me with content. See, even when we are in a fight, he still cares.
Datablue pointed out in comments on yesterday’s trailer post that I ignored Arjun Rampal’s Daddy, once again. And I made a mental note that the next time I had an excuse for a trailer post, I would talk about it. And then I open up twitter, and poof! Trailer! So now I get to combine two very very different films in one post.
Thanks to you nice commentators (Niki in particular), I was alerted to this trailer. And it is really interesting! Although the new “Kapoor” kid still isn’t blowing me away, the new actress is great. And then I thought I might as well do a quick look at any other new trailers that our out there, so this also has a song from Baadshaho, Indu Sarkar, and Haseena Parker.
