This is a post I did last year, and I just pulled it from the archives to repost it and was looking up the first day of winter this year. Do you know it’s the same day EVERY YEAR???? Somehow this blows my mind. I don’t know why. Maybe I need a refresher on how calendars work.
Well, Aamir Khan clearly signed a new deal with Netflix. The odd random collection of films he has produced are now available. Yes, including Delhi Belly and (less importantly) Lagaan. (Accessbollywood.net does the real work of keeping this list updated, you should definitely absolutely subscribe to them for your day to day updates.)
Well this is an interesting batch of news in terms of changing industrial forces! Managers, story rights, all kinds of things that didn’t used to exist and may not necessarily result in a different or superior end product.
At one point, Shahrukh was rumored to be coming. But it looks like they scaled back after Shashi’s death. Which is good, because if Shahrukh had come, I would be SO JEALOUS! What does that baby have that I don’t have? Why would Shahrukh go to his party and not mine?
Happy Wednesday! I am much less sick than I was last Wednesday. Thank goodness! I really have to update my Netflix list! Kabali was just added, and that is definitely a MUST WATCH. In the meantime, I will just re-post the review I put up after I saw it in theaters. And also because no one is commenting or reading right now (especially Tamil/Telugu reviews), so I have lost the will to write anything new.
I finally watched Kick! Thanks to Hotstar and needing something mindless to play in the background while I cleaned. It’s okay, mostly interesting for seeing Salman’s version of an action avenger type. (yes yes, I know it is a remake so it wasn’t originally supposed to be Salman)
I totally forgot I wrote this post, and then some nice Cyrillic using reader posted a link to it on a message board which reminded me of it. And it’s brilliant! I agree with everything I said! And Star Wars is back in the news, so I might as well put it up again for us all to appreciate and discuss.
Trailers! I wake up and there are trailers! How exciting! Let’s see if I can watch and write about them real quick before I have to leave for work.
Finally, a movie about sisters! No romance, hardly any parents, it’s all about the sister relationship. For once, it is the pain of separated sisters we feel, not lovers or brothers or parent and child.
Poor Salman! Once again getting the short end of the stick. Only 5 days of pre-big movie release celebration. Christmas, and my killer flu, got him all delayed. Oh well, Salman is also super nice, so I am sure he would be fine with my spending my days in bed and/or with relatives instead of celebrating him to the utmost.
I’m trying to put up tiny little news posts every day even when I don’t have much to say and there isn’t much news. So enjoy these two small non-news news items!

I’m going to try to be better about putting out news posts for these smaller stories just so you can discuss them. Although also, REMINDER, you can always mention these stories or post links to them in the Wednesday Watching post. That’s what it is there for! Even if it’s not Wednesday. Just like you can always ask me any questions on Monday Morning Questions, even if it’s not Monday.
This is one of those “I’m not a news source and can’t report the actual facts, but I can give interesting discussion around them” kind of posts. I don’t know who’s in or out of the film right now, not for sure. I don’t know the details of the filming schedule or anything like that. But I can delve a little deeper into what has been reported.
Poor Salman! A Christmas baby. He has to share his Sunday fanfic theme post with Christmas theme post. But it’s kind of a good fit, right? Salman has that warm sort of vibe that feels kind of Christmassy.
Only one week to Christmas, GAAAAAHHHHH!!!!! I still haven’t done my mailing, and I still don’t have really good-good presents for everyone I should have good-good presents for. But whatever, I was sick, they have to forgive me.
He deserves a birthday post, right? Maybe not as long as the ones I did for Dilip Sahib and Raj Kapoor, but still something. Let’s say, a dozen reasons to love him, that seems fair. (this is an updated and reposted post from last year)
Do you know what gains me 5 times as many new readers as anything else? People recommending me on other sites! Not in the actual content of the post, but in the comments. Somehow if you are reading an article or watching a video or even just in a forum, and someone in the comments says “hey, check out this awesome post”, you are much more likely to click through to the post than if it is anywhere else. Even celebrity tweets, not as powerful as normal people recommendations! And it’s not exactly something I can do for myself, because then everyone knows it is the author of the post and just ignores it.

We were talking about the endlessly iconic “Suhaagraat” sequence from Kabhi Kabhi yesterday and Amrita challenged me to think if there were other similar sequences before that. I couldn’t really think of any, but I could really really think of others after it!
