Not the best movie, not the worst movie. It was on Netflix, and it had Asif Ali and Bhavana, that was enough for me to try it.
Monthly Archives: July 2018
News Round-Up: Alia-Ranbir Marriage Rumors, Sacred Games Makes it to the Indian Press for One Reason, Bharat Sounds…Confused
Monday Monday, news news. Nothing really exciting, like a contract dispute or something, but still some things for us to chew over.
Monday Morning Questions: What Do You Want to Ask Me This Week?
Happy Monday! I slept and slept and slept, and now I am back at work all bright-eyed and bushy tailed. And ready for questions!
Happy Birthday Himesh Reshamiyya
Today he is 45, so I get to put up all my favorite songs and reasons I love him! 25 in all, for the age he was when he wrote his first hit song. (this is an updated and reposted post from last year)
Sunday Night Report: I’m Too Tired to Do A Real Post
This was a looooooooooong weekend. I managed to find the energy to do my usual Sunday post, and I am quite proud of this week’s story (read it here!), but now I am too tired to think of anything new and thought provoking to write. So I am watching a fun Telugu movie and watching Dog Hazel sleep, because she is tired too.
Silly Sunday: Rain Themed Movies, Bride and Bandit and Old Loves Reigniting the Spark
Rainy rainy rainy here. And, I assume, rainy rainy rainy there too. So heck, I’m gonna do rain stories. And rain makes me feel arty, so they will all be reflective little art movies.
News Round-Up: Imraan Has a New “Job”, Disha Patani is Folded into ANOTHER Priyanka Story, Kangana’s Manikarnika Sounds Like a Disaster
I have 20 minutes before the kids get here, so I am going to write a news report post real quick, and then dig a croquet set out of the attic so they can hit each other with mallets. Or possibly actually play croquet, but that seems unlikely.
Saturday Small Talk: 6 Kids and a Rainy Day, Wish Me Luck!
Happy Saturday! This message comes to you from our vacation home, again. I am here for a very exhausting and also (hopefully) fun weekend!
TGIF: The Eyes Have It! Best Eyes in Indian Film in 5 Categories
Suggestion courtesy of Meenakshy, I’m gonna do best eyes in Indian film. In multiple categories, because you can’t really compare, like, Madhuri versus young Salman.
News Round-Up: Priyanka Plays PR, Anubhav Sinha is my Hero, Abbas-Mustan Go Korean, BH Fails in Both Ethics and Accuracy, and Madhavan Plays a Santa Scientist
I don’t know if I woke up on the wrong side of the bed today or what, but the way BollywoodHungama is so shamelessly acting as a PR machine is really bugging me today. So I’m gonna report their “stories” but I also can’t help but call out their shame.
Friday Classics: Don 1 and 2, a Late Birthday Present for Priyanka
You have all been delightfully patient with my incredibly dull history of media series that I’ve been obsessed with for the past few days, but now it is all over and as a reward, I will do an intensive review of two movies that I suspect most of you have seen, and have opinions on.
Hindi Film 101: The Streaming Wars and How We Got Here, Part 6, Is Everyone Really Online?
Last section! Bringing us through to the present day (finally) and the situation now as movie theaters close their doors and the internet struggles to replace them.
Hindi Film 101: The Streaming Wars and How We Got Here Part 5, The Take Over of America
Second to last section! And all about the American market (boring!), but you have to understand this market first before you can understand how the methods are being exported to India and Indian content.
Hindi Film 101: Streaming Wars and How We Got Here Part 4, Rise of the Internet
Another part of my boring series! Although we are beginning to get closer to modern times, the rise of piracy is something that effects us a little more directly than the original regulations around broadcast radio.
Mangal Panday’s Birth Anniversary, A Day to Look Back at 1857
I put up this post originally on the anniversary of his first act of rebellion, but it didn’t get many views, so I am putting it up again on the anniversary of his birth. Because Mangal Panday is important! And so is 1857. And we should remember both of them.
Happy Birthday Sukhwinder Singh! 15 Songs to Show I Love You
There is another big birthday today, but I am following a “if you can’t say anything nice” policy and ignoring it. But that means Sukhwinder gets a day all to himself! And he deserves it, he has worked very hard for a very long time.
Wednesday Watching Post: What Are You Reading and Thinking and Watching This Week?
Happy Wednesday! Halfway through the week! A short week for me, because I get to take Friday off to help my parents prepare for a massive house party (you will be hearing more about this).
Tuesday Tamil: Ayan, Suriya Goes International
I considered titling this “Suriya and his pecs”. Really, is there something I am missing here? He unbuttons his shirt so much! And it’s not to show off the six pack, it’s to show off his blossoming pectoral muscles.
Good Day-Bad Day
This is one of those gossipy personal posts, ignore if you don’t care. But I had a surprisingly good day yesterday, followed by a surprisingly bad day today, and I need to brag/vent!
New YouTube Box Office Video! Check Out My Earrings!
Since Ticket pointed it out in the comments, now I am suddenly very aware of the large cardboard box in the corner. Oh well, it’s worth it if it keeps the books my friend lent me in order and undamaged until I return them to her. And also reminds me to finish them so I can get them back. She let me the entire run of the Discworld Witches series! That’s a big deal! I shouldn’t forget.
Box Office Report: Soorma? Just Meh
Does that headline work? I don’t really care, I just love the wordplay even if no one else gets it. The point is, Soorma is not doing great. Not excitingly awful either. Just “meh”.
28 Months Until the Blog Goes Away-Reminder to Promote (But Only If You Feel Like It)
It’s your monthly reminder to “pay” for content by promoting me! And that word-of-mouth is a way more effective method than anything else. Oh, but not if it gets you in trouble for repeating my opinions. And by the way, my Sacred Games reviews are exploding with views, so I am doing spectacular well in views at the moment. But almost no comments, which makes me guess 99.9% of those viewers aren’t really interested in joining the blog community and will be disappearing never to be seen again, so my numbers will drop back down again in a week.
Let’s Obsess over Katrina’s Zero Look!!!
For her birthday (/to take advantage of Kat being trending news today), Shahrukh posted her first look from Zero and a little introductory statement on his twitter. So, let’s obsess over it! The way we do.
Monday Malayalam: My Story, Prithviraj and Parvathy Do Melodrama
This was a ridiculous movie. I only watched it because there was a problem with Soorma and we couldn’t get tickets. But it was interesting, as a reminder that not every Malayalam movie, even the ones with the top tier cast, are that good.
Monday Morning Questions: What Do You Want to Ask Me the Week of Dhadak?
Happy Monday! And Happy Dhadak week! I will probably NOT be watching it. Because I don’t want to and, more importantly, I will be out of town next weekend. So that’s one question answered, what else do you want to ask me?
