I don’t pay much attention to the rumors of who is dating who and what film maybe possibly might be signed by what actor. But the hardcore industrial stuff, that I find FASCINATING! And there were two stories that came out recently that I find really interesting.

Monday Morning Questions Post, the Week I Move Apartments!
Happy Monday! I am writing this from my parent’s guest room, because my apartment is now so packed up, it has become unlivable. So this will be a bit of an odd week in Margaret-world, hiding out in the back bedroom at my parents and occasionally “visiting” my real place to put a few more things in boxes. But that just means all the more reason you should ask me stuff and distract me!
MovieMavenGal Reviewed Half-Girlfriend (With SPOILERS) So I Don’t Have To! Plus Meri Pyari Bindu and A Cool Intro Video!
I skipped my usual weekly trip to the movie theater (because packing), so I didn’t see either Half-Girlfriend or English Medium. And I missed Meri Pyari Bindu last week. But thank goodness, I don’t have to try to rush around and make up for that, because moviemavengal did the work for me.
Silly Sunday Speculative Post: In Honor of Karan Johar’s Birthday, All of His Movie’s Endings Fixed!
I love Karan. Love love love. Both as an artist and a public figure. But I have to admit, he has a problem with endings. Every film either drags on too long or ends too soon. There’s always a feeling of “wait, that’s all there is?” at the end of it. And so, as my birthday gift in advance to him, I am going to fix all that! (real birthday post will go up in a couple days on the actual birthday)
Happy Birthday Adi! I Will Let Your Work Speak For You
It’s Aditya Chopra’s birthday today, but I don’t want to make a big fuss, because it seems like he isn’t the kind of guy who likes a big fuss. With that in mind, I will celebrate by letting his work speak for itself. And I will do 28 reasons, one for every year since he started working in film. The reverse of last year, when I did 18 reasons, one for each year he was in age. (This is an updated and reposted post from last year)
I’m Moving! Well, In a Week. Right Now, I’m Packing!
I finally found the perfect apartment that fits all my impossible requirements, yay!!!! But now I have to put everything I own in boxes, boooooo. So while I sweat and strain and throw my back out, you can read this post and try to picture it.
Bahubali 2 Scene By Scene Part 20: The Last Sad Bit! Chekhov’s Bow is Fired
Phew! We are almost to the return to the present day and the cathartic battle scenes! But first, the last bit of sad. And a subtle call back to something way way way way way back at the beginning of the film (part 19 here, you can crawl back from there)
Bahubali 2 Scene By Scene Part 19: Oh Kattappa!
Happy second to last “sad part”. Thank goodness I got to take a break in the middle for our weekly TGIF post. Otherwise this would have been much too hard to get through. (Last part of the scene by scene is here, you can crawl back through the archives from there). I’m going to try to put up the final “sad part” later this evening, and then you can all talk about it all weekend.
TGIF: Bahubali Cast Looking All Strange in Modern Clothes! (plus, Friendly Appearance from SRK!)
It’s always odd when you see period actors in modern clothing, right? Like, Colin Firth (The One True Darcy) never looks quite right to me in jeans. But, on the other hand, the Bahubali cast in modern clothes does make me think “oh good, it’s just a movie! I don’t have to be so sad/scared/angry about it.” And I thought it might cheer us all up to share that experience this Friday. Feel free to put your favorite “happy happy!” photos of these actors in the comments, if I missed any.
Bahubali 2 Scene By Scene Part 18: A Short Sad Stab
Welcome back! I decided I wanted to get all the sad parts over with as quickly as possible. So sad part part 1 was a few hours ago, now sad part part 2, and sad part part 3 will be going up in a bit. And then, thank goodness, we just have the big old battle to deal with! Which might wait until Monday, seems like you should all have enough to talk about with these three posts over the weekend.
Bahubali 2 Scene By Scene Part 17: The Sun Rises in the West
That was the line, wasn’t it? To get Ramya to change would be like getting the sun to rise in the West? Well, it happens here! And it is so sad, that I am going to be getting through this section considerably faster than the previous parts, just to get it over with. (part 16 here, you can go back from there)
Bahubali 2 Scene By Scene Part 16: The Founding of a New Mahishmati
Welcome back to Bahubali! I am going to do another post on “Dandaalayya”, because there is so much more to consider in it. And then get into the “bad part” a little bit. (part 15 here, you can crawl back from there)
Hindi Film 101 One-Off: Bombay, The Mafia, and Hindi Film
Just saying, if I end up getting threatened/killed for writing this, it’s on all your heads! But I probably won’t, right? It’s not like Dawood is in exile in Karachi reading English language film blogs. (if he is, “Hi Dawood! You should turn yourself in to the authorities because you are a terrible person who deserves to be punished!”) (also, this is one of those posts that is very similar to my book. If you like it, you might want to buy the book)
The Mother of All Film Mothers Has Passed Away
Don’t worry, Farida Jalal is fine. So is Waheedaji. No, prepare yourself for a shock, Reema Lagoo has passed away. Very suddenly of heart attack, at age 59.
Bahubali 2 Scene By Scene Part 15: Mahishmati “Justice” and “Dandaalayya”
I continue my crawl through the judgement/banishment scene! I truly did not realize how deep this section went while I was watching it, it’s only while writing this report that I realized how many moving parts there were. Essentially Part 13 was the personal layer, Part 14 was the massive internal issues going on with Prabhas and what this said about him (and his son). And now Part 15 is where I can get into the general question of what this scene says about Mahishmati, and a little bit into the banishment period.
Tubelight Song! Such Big News, It Gets Its Own Post!
I was thinking about doing a kind of combined post with some of the other new songs releases I may have missed. But, firstly, I don’t know that there are that many big new song releases, everything is entering the Ramadan duldrums right now. And anyway, Salman is such big news that he doesn’t need anything else.
Wednesday Watching Post: What Have You Been Reading and Watching and Thinking The Week I Start Moving?
Happy Wednesday! Halfway through the week, 4 more days until my sister is back from India and my sleep schedule gets normal again. Coffee is almost the same as sleep, right? Anyway, it does mean that I’ve been getting a lot of blogging down, so that’s something. Many pre-scheduled posts for the next few weeks have been finished.
Bahubali 2 Scene By Scene Summary Part 14: The Urge to Chop Off Heads Must Be Genetic
You all realize this is the Tuesday Telugu/Tamil post this week too, right? I still put up a Malayalam post, because I feel bad for my poor Malayalam readers who have so few places to go to read their reviews. But Telugu/Tamil, you will have to make due with my crawling through the same movie for yet another week. (part 13 here, you can crawl back from there)
Movies on Netflix I Recommend: An Update!
Accesbollywood.net just updated her amazing “all Indian Netflix films” list to include three new films. So I am going to update mine. This may or may not become a routine, on the one hand it’s a lot of cutting and pasting and all, but on the other hand it is probably a very practical tool for readers. Most importantly, SUBSCRIBE TO ACCESSBOLLYWOOD!!! She does most of the work for this list, and you will find out about updates much faster, instead of whenever I get around to it.
Hindi Film 101: A Very Very General History of Dance
Prepare yourself for another Hindi Film 101 that takes me out of my comfort zone! Someone asked a question on Monday about dancers on film, and there was also suggested that I do some discussion of actresses from the south. So I am going to try to combine that and talk in very very general terms about classical dance traditions in India and how that relates to actresses, especially from the south.
Monday Malayalam: Pulimurugan, Because All My DVDs Are Packed
Happy Monday! I’m all-Bahubali, all the time, only I know I’ve got my nice faithful Malayalam readers too, and I don’t want you to feel left out. So I managed to take a break to watch a not-very-good, but very popular, Malayalam film.
Bahubali 2 Scene by Scene Part 13: The Unluckiest Part
We are now getting into “the scary bit”. The bit that I had to kind of look at the ceiling and ignore, or actually leave the theater, during. So forgive me if I move a little faster, and if I forget some parts. You can fill in, in the comments. (part 12 here, you can go backwards from there)
Monday Morning Questions, Madhuri Birthday Week!
Happy Madhuri’s Birthday again! And Happy Monday! I started the week by waking up at 4:30am (again). 6 more days until my sister comes back from Chennai and my sleep schedule gets back on American time instead of India time!
Happy Birthday Madhuri! 50 Years old and better than ever
Yay, it’s Madhuri’s birthday! Officially, in America, not just in India like when I put up my last post. I already posted the first 25 reasons I love her, now here are 24 more. (this is an updated and reposted post from last year)
Silly Sunday Speculative Post: Happy Birthday and Happy Mother’s Day, Madhuri! You Should Play More Mothers
I don’t know why nobody seems to know what to do with Madhuri. She is so wonderful and amazing, and ever since her post-children return to the industry, she isn’t getting the platforms she deserves. But I have ideas!
