I’m sick of the dog stealing my thunder! No, not really, she is so in pain and miserable that all she can do is breath and sleep, so she didn’t even raise her little head up to join in the conversation. Anyway, this week’s box office, here it is again, same as in this post. But this time with me talking instead of writing!
Yesterday was Day of News, today is Day of Trailers. Ajay’s new movie, first teaser for Akshay’s next or, as I think of it, Reema Kagti’s next. And a song from Welcome to New York. And Veerey Ki Wedding, just to round things out.
Well, this is a boring week. Padmavat continues as you would expect based on last week. Bhaagamathie too, everything is kind of predictable. Except for Australia! And New Zealand. What is going on with those kooky Kiwis and Aussies? (figures courtesy of bollywoodhungama, as always)

It’s Preity’s birthday week! And Urmila’s too! And both of them deserve to be working more, even though they are over 40. So, I have IDEAS!
Another birthday! And another one I am mostly excited about because of the song options. There is often a secret motive behind these birthday posts, that being that I really want an excuse to dig through all the songs of the birthday boy or girl. And Urmila has such great songs!
Meenakshy asked me a question on Monday about fans, and then I gave a way way too long answer in response, because that was what my Masters Thesis was on! Fandom and how Hindi film inspires a different kind of fan. Anyway, I thought I might as well take my answer and turn it into a post. (my thesis is here if you want more details and and original research related to this)
A dozen really doesn’t seem like enough for, arguably, the greatest actress Hindi film has ever seen. But I will start with a dozen and maybe add on next year.
I know I’ve been doing a lot of song posts lately, but I am sick of reporting on Padmavat and not much else has been happening. So, songs it is! Just to keep us busy for a bit until the one-two of Padman and Aiyaary next week. Oh, and there’s a dog video at the end, if you are into that sort of thing.
I hate making women battle against each other! So just take it as a given that both Preity and Urmila are awesome and gorgeous and so on and so on. But let us determine in particular cases, who is more awesome and gorgeous?
Happy Friday! I think this can legitimately be considered a classic, don’t you? Not a perfect movie, but one that is also a little bit better and a little more interesting, and a little more memorable, than the run of the mill films. And anyway, it’s Preity’s birthday week.
This is partly because I didn’t feel like writing something else today, and partly because I wanted to give the people what they want. That is….more dog!
I just did a long thoughtful factual historical post, which no one will read. So I will try to balance it with a fun silly post, and we will see how that does.
