Datablue pointed out in comments on yesterday’s trailer post that I ignored Arjun Rampal’s Daddy, once again. And I made a mental note that the next time I had an excuse for a trailer post, I would talk about it. And then I open up twitter, and poof! Trailer! So now I get to combine two very very different films in one post.
Thanks to you nice commentators (Niki in particular), I was alerted to this trailer. And it is really interesting! Although the new “Kapoor” kid still isn’t blowing me away, the new actress is great. And then I thought I might as well do a quick look at any other new trailers that our out there, so this also has a song from Baadshaho, Indu Sarkar, and Haseena Parker.
Another song! They are coming fast and furious now, it’s getting closer and closer! Oh geez, I have to figure out new angles for my Shahrukh Week, don’t I? Veer-Zaara for Shahrukh as a Punjabi? A third post on how ridiculous it is that Shahrukh didn’t end up with Anushka in Jab Tak? I can talk about that forever!
I’ve been dropping comments for the past few days and I finally thought “oh to heck with it! I’ll just explain what’s going on.” Plus, it will be a fun post for you all to read while I drive back and forth and back and forth and have two birthday cakes.
It’s my mother’s birthday today! I debated a post of sappy mother type songs, but she wouldn’t actually enjoy that. So instead, I’m going to put up a post of all her favorite song videos!
I hate that myth. From two sides. First, people always think it means that characters don’t kiss. Characters totally kiss! And have sex and do all the normal things. It’s the actors who don’t. So we see the characters leaning in, but then rain obscures our view or whatever. The audience knows what happened, even without seeing it. Just like a “sex scene” in a movie doesn’t mean we explicitly see the actors having sex. We just see a bunch of sheets and know what happened. Oh, and also, actors totally kiss too. Anyway, this made up holiday gives me an excuse to post lots and lots of kissing videos, woo!
Happy 4th of July! I am celebrating by not doing anything and just enjoying having a random day off in the middle of the week. And I am going to have a little song festival of American-themed Indian movie songs. As always with these posts, if I missed one you like, just mention it in the comments! Yaaaay, another cute trailer! Which basically gives away the entire plot! But it’s a good plot, so I’m fine with that. Really, most of the time I think if you don’t want to see a movie once you know the plot, then it’s a baaaaaaad movie. We should enjoy films for more than just the plot, there are the characters and the dialogue and everything else. And this film is definitely going to be about the characters. (oh, and it was posted with subtitles right from the start, so I think this is a clear sign that Shahrukh is reading my blog and loves me)

Well, Karan Johar is tweeting about it, so that means it must be news. Fine! I will talk about the new Jagga Jasoos trailer! And then as a reward for my good behavior, I will talk about the trailers I actually like.
Now, on Rahman’s birthday, I will call him “the Greatest Composer Since RD Burman” and it will be an equal compliment. The two of them are up there, all by themselves, on the list of popular film composers. For his birthday, I will give you 55 reasons to love him (mostly songs)
I don’t have a super lot to say about these trailers, but I am really hoping that you do! Because I need to learn more about these movies and decide if it is worth it to go see them in theaters. Because, you know, Tamil/Telugu movie tickets are big bucks!
Good news! I found a post I did for Eid last year, so I can join in the celebrations after all. Better late than never. As I said last year, I am 95% sure all these songs are appropriate. But if a miss-translated a lyric or something, and one of them is more secular than religious, let me know right away so I can pull it out of a post where it doesn’t belong.
Happy Pride! For once I am NOT in charge of the service at my church, which is around the corner from the parade (our kids have a lemonade stand out front, we rake in the money), so I do not have to go down to the loud crowded hot unpleasant parade area. Instead I get to celebrate by reposting the same fanvid post I put up last year. Thank you slashfic fanvid makers! You are just the best people, and on Pride Sunday, I salute you!
Continue readingKepzandme alerted me to it being SRK’s 25th anniversary in films today, 25 years since Deewana came out. I am sure everyone in the world is doing 25 songs, 25 scenes, 25 films, kind of posts. I’m not going to bother trying to add to that. Instead, I will do something only I can do, and put in my personal 25 best memories, in no particular order.
I know this is something we have all been concerned about, R. Madhavan’s ever developing style of attractiveness. And, almost as important, the ever developing relationship between Hindi and non-Hindi films in India.
No subtitles though. Which, following my theory from yesterday, means that Shahrukh used to love me and was telling me through subtitling his videos. But now no longer loves me and is breaking up with me through NOT subtitling his videos. WHY SHAHRUKH???? WHY???? I’ll change for you! I’ll do whatever you ask! Just take me back!
Well, that’s not really fair, I don’t know yet if they are better films because these films haven’t come out. But I can suspect they are better films, because the films they remind me of were really really good, and it showed even in the trailer.
Well, apparently the promotion train is moving at an express pace, and I will need to put up one of these posts every day for the next month and a half (last one here). I guess I am okay with that. Anyway, New Teaser! More importantly, Subtitles!!! Most importantly, Shahrukh loves me and wants me to be happy and is showing it through subtitles on his trailers! I should take this as a sign of his undying devotion to me and go be a Gaurav outside Mannat, right?
Really quick post, just so we can all discuss. And so those of you who need this information ASAP can get it. New JHMS teaser! I am still cautiously optimistic. Although slightly less so than I was after the last two teasers.
I was putting this off and putting this off, hoping subtitles would be added so I could do a comprehensive discussion, not just a sort of discussion. But, no luck! So I will put up this kind of placeholder post, and all you lucky people who know Hindi can discuss it in depth, and the rest of us will just leap in once someone at Red Chillies gets around to hitting the magical “English Subs” button on their youtube account.
The Ramadan promo parade continues! Tubelight is taking it easy, Salman just tweeting set photos, Shahrukh is doing the same with Jab Harry Met Sejal (blech, still hate the title). Leaving the field clear for the hardcore promos of first looks and teaser trailers for other movies.
Happy Birthday Sonam! So many birthdays in early June! But that’s no reason to ignore Sonam. She blew me away in Neerja, and then she blew me away again with her intelligent interviews on the status of female stars and female lead films in the industry.
