I was gonna write about Imtiaz, but then I realized I really had to write about two directos. One for Imtiaz and Ranbir, one for Imtiaz and anyone else.

Rockstar: A Celebration of an Average Man with Average Problems Elevated to a God
Blech! I don’t like this movie. If you like this movie, DON’T READ THIS REVIEW. Why would you do that to yourself? Go about your life and continue to be happy and loving. But if you also hate this movie, come over here by me and we can hate it together.
Continue readingMagical Thinking Post: Let Us All Combine Our Powers For These Very Small Wishes
I am a deep believer in the “God has a plan” theory and also the “Butterfly effect” theory. Meaning that I don’t like to make big wishes for fear they will come true and somehow mess with The Universe. But I think the following small wishes should be safe and not permenantly damage anything. Join me in combining our powers to Make Them So!
Continue readingTGIF: Cozy Pictures
It was just pouring rain here yesterday. In that “I cannot see out the window and the sun is not coming up” kind of way. Which is nice, because it has been bright hot sun for the past 3 days. So today the rain sort of felt cozy and nice. I just needed a nice Indian movie star to curl up with and watch the storm.
Continue readingHindi Film 101: Katrina Kaif, the Mystery Woman
I hadn’t even considered writing this post until a few days ago when somehow we started talking about her. Which is a sign of how mysterious she is, that her past is such a vast emptiness we all somehow forget it even exists. We think of her as boring bland Katrina instead of considering the amazingness of her life and existance.
Continue readingHindi Film 101: Turn of the Century Sociopaths, the Hindi Rom-Com Heroes of the 2000s
Fun post! I get to complain, and then you all get to complain back at me. It will be like when I talked about subtitles, but worse.
Continue readingFriday Classics: Bachna Ae Haseeno, Ranbir is a Sociopath
This was one of many movies from my YRF list earlier this week that it was requested I review. I picked it because, well, I can remember it well enough to review without needing a rewatch. And it certainly doesn’t deserve a rewatch.
Continue readingMore Critiquing the Critics: What Artists Get Too Much/Not Enough Credit?
I quite enjoyed everyone’s responses to yesterday’s post asking what films were reviewed unfairly (and please keep adding on there if you remember more or this post reminds you of something!). Everyone gave delightful varied answers that went beyond saying “this film was good and they said it was bad” and instead into how exactly the film was misinterpreted and dismissed. Now, let’s do the same for artists! There are some actors and directors and composers that always get loads of critical acclaim and may not deserve it, and others that never get noticed and really should.
Continue readingFilmFare Report: Alia-Ranbir, Hirani, Katrina, and Clothes
There was one year I tried to do a really really intensive coverage and it exhausted me. Digging through all the various sites for images and to make sure I didn’t miss anything was just BLAH! So I’m not doing that again, I’m just going to do highlights and you all can fill in what I miss.
Continue readingValentine’s Week Final Review: Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani! A Young Couple Who is Too Grown-Up
I promised to write this review for Valentine’s Week and then I missed it, so I am squeezing it in now instead. Oh well, I didn’t have anything else planned for today anyway.
Continue readingKoffee With Karan: Episode 1, Alia and Dips and a Surprise SRK
I love you us.hotstar.com!!!!!! I think I may have been able to watch this even before the India broadcast? Anyway, get a hotstar subscription, all you people reading this! It’s worth it!
Random Tuesday Discussion Post: Overrated and Underrated Actors/Films
I am pretty sure YRF has arranged things so that no news breaks except for the Thugs posters. But I am sick of talking about the Thugs posters! And there’s no other news! So I have to fall back on discussion posts. Oh well, I always really enjoy talking to you all, hopefully you enjoy talking to me too.
Monday Morning Questions Post: What Are Your Unpopular Opinions?
Happy Monday! After my super productive weekend (I did everything but hang the new towel rack), regular work feels like a bit of an anti-climax. So, distract me! Ask me questions!
Friday Classics: Raajneeti, I Cared Too Much About Some Characters and Too Little About Others
An experiment! We all watched the same movie, and now I have to review it. Which is A LOT of pressure on me, since for once you have all seen the movie as recently as me and probably understood it better. Oh well, you can think of this as a starting point for a discussion, not the end.
News Round-Up: Alia-Ranbir Marriage Rumors, Sacred Games Makes it to the Indian Press for One Reason, Bharat Sounds…Confused
Monday Monday, news news. Nothing really exciting, like a contract dispute or something, but still some things for us to chew over.
New Youtube Video! Sanju Box Office, and I Look GREAT!!!!
Thank goodness, after my string of hot unhappy looking videos, I finally look good. This is the video to share with people if you want to sell them on my channel! Because, so pretty. It’s really rainy here and I think the soft light, combined with my disgusting tangled hair (I went swimming a lot yesterday) and my nice new shirt ended up with a great look. Oh, and my thoughts are good too. But mostly, don’t I look pretty? Instead of like I am about to die of heatstroke?
Sanju Review (SPOILERS): They Told the Story They Wanted to Tell, Truth Be Damned
I’m back! 6 hours of sleep, and now I am refreshed and ready to move on to the SPOILERS review, after having already written the No Spoilers review. Which will be super fun for me, having just spent a month learning in detail everything about what “really” happened in Sanjay’s life (you can read that here). And therefore knowing just what this film changed. Which is EVERYTHING.
Sanju Review (No Spoilers): Emotionally Hollow
I’m back! From an incredibly hot drive to the theater, back to the sanctuary of my nice cool bedroom, with Dog Hazel stretched out panting on the floor. Time to start writing some kind of a review of this thing.
Friday Classics: Wake Up Sid, Ranbir’s Best Performance Before Sanju
Happy Friday! I just rapid re-released all my Sanjay posts, I’m driving to work so I can zip home, walk Dog Hazel and then zip out again to catch the Sanju release at the earliest possible show. Busy times! But first I want to take a moment to remember a completely different kind of film that I still think is Ranbir’s best performance.
Trailers! New Sanju, Gold, and Soorma
Ready for a bunch of inspirational stories? They were down, they were hopeless, it was all impossible, and then against the odds they rose up again!!!!!! I am going to be so sick of inspiration by Independence Day, hopefully I can still enjoy Gold.
Silly Sunday: Father’s Day! Father Plots For Everyone, Pick Your Favorite
Happy Father’s Day! This is a repost from last year, but it is very long and worth rereading. And also very very good, I forgot how good this one was! There’s Rana and Shahrukh fighting in wet shirts, Ranbir and Sonakshi falling in love, Varun Dhawan and a baby, all kinds of good things. Also, it’s a Father’s Day Multiverse and all the stories are connected. And anyway, I am spending 6 hours at church today (service plus organizing coffee hour plus meeting), so I earned a rerun.
TGIW: Dhoti Men, Because My Boss is Out of the Office Today
My boss is gone today which means I can look at photos on my computer without fear of being observed and judged. Well, my co-workers might judge me, but whatever, I don’t care what they think. And I was just talking with Meenakshy about who looks good in a Dhoti, so why not do a Dhoti post? Similar too but different from my previous Lungi post. (for the purposes of this post, “Dhoti” means any single cloth that is used as a wrap skirt by an Indian man)
Trailers! 1 Dhadak, 2 Sanjus, and 5 Weddings
So many videos while I was gone! Oh well, I will try to catch up with them all now, plus 5 Weddings because filmilibrarian asked for it.
News Round-Up: Old Feuds, Old Loves, New Movie Theaters
This is a suuuuuuuuper fast news report, because I am still on vacation and I want to spend time with my sister, not blog. But I also feel it’s not fair to all of you, who read me so faithfully, not to provide content! And anyway, there were a couple of interesting stories today.
Silly Sunday: Female Friendship Vengeance Story, Inspired by Alia and Ranbir and Kat
Happy Sunday! I wrote soooooooooooooooo much yesterday, and like good high quality stuff, reviews of Bhavesh Joshi and Veere Di Wedding. So this morning, I get to write short total trash, in a nice change of pace. Let’s pretend the world is a bad romance novel of the Judith Kranz type and rewrite reality!
