Happy International Women’s Day! Here are some International Women!

There are so many many many options for a Women’s Day post, that it kind of blew my mind and I couldn’t decide! Most empowering films for women? Most feminist songs? My favorite female characters?
Anyway, I decided to switch focus to the “International” part of it, and look at the most International women in Indian film!

Final trailer! And it is a mystifying one. I just cannot figure out how it fits in with the other bits of the movie that we have seen so far. Thank goodness I only have 7 more days until I can see the whole thing!
Two Unrelated Videos: Sarkar 3 and Prithviraj!
Mohzin on my Wednesday Watching post recommended a new interview with Prithviraj, which I was able to watch after work today, and it was fascinating! Probably in a bunch of ways I missed, but also in some I managed to actually catch despite knowing almost nothing about his industry. And then separately from that, trailer for Sarkar 3 came out! And it is kind of fascinating to look at the two of them in terms of how Hindi film stars present themselves versus Malayalam.
Random Songs Post: Let’s Play Antakshari!
I wanted to do a songs post, because this week is wearing me out and I don’t have the energy for a “real” post. And also because it was Mardi Gras yesterday and I have a great Mardi Gras song. But I couldn’t think of any other Mardi Gras songs, so instead of doing that theme, I came up with another.

Yay, Rani’s back!!!! I can’t decide if all these 90s actresses coming back is because the 90s really did have the best batch, or because the industry has finally started to accept women over 35 as more than just mothers. Probably a combo of the two.

Final Vacation Report
I’m having another traveling day today. Which means my official “vacation” is over. But not really, because all I wanted to do was read for pleasure without feeling guilty about it. And I can do that just as easily sitting in an airport terminal as sitting in a park in the sunshine. Anyway, I thought you might want to get a final report on how it went!
Vacation Report, Day 1: Rain Rain, Eh You Can Stay I Don’t Mind!
Greetings from an undisclosed location in Southern California! It’s about 10 degrees warmer, but otherwise exactly the same weather as if I were in Chicago (grey, rainy). But I’m still happy! It’s just so nice to get away.
Traveling Day!
So, I am going on a trip! All by myself! Purely for pleasure! For the first time in my entire life! And today and Monday, I will be traveling literally all day. Like, for 14 hours straight. Which is a good thing, I get to sit on the plane/bus/train and just read for pleasure with no guilt over not doing something else productive, like writing blog posts.

Last Raees Song! Mika Singh Appears
The final (probably) Raees song has just been released. And it is the Mika Singh song that is apparently required in every hit film now (Mika or Yo Yo or Badshah). Tough and a little Bhangra mixed with hip-hop sounding. Less hip-hop in this case, more 80s style.
Happy Women’s March Day!
I’m not posting today because I’m taking the train downtown to be in my local Women’s March. If you aren’t in America, this is a protest march organized for the day after Trump’s inauguration. A million women are descending on DC (2 of my friends are going, including a grandmother from my church quilting group) and every city in America is having it’s own version. Anyway, while I’m busy marching around or whatever we will be doing (I haven’t been to a protest in years, not since my parents took me when I was a little kid to the anti-Gulf War ones, so I don’t really know what happens), I thought I might as well schedule a theme post to go up so you can share the experience.
Bad News Cheer Up Post
So, there’s some kind of stressful/disturbing news that my family just got which could turn out to be nothing, or to be something kind of difficult for the next few years. I won’t get into it, but sending good thoughts our way would be nice! And to that end (and also because it is overcast and rainy here again, and my office has no window), I wanted to put up some videos that always make me feel, I don’t know, like there is good in the world?
