That’s all, just BABIES! Adira turned 1 today and her party hosted all the cutest new members of the film fraternity. Let’s go to the pictures!

News Round-Up: Many People Are Signing Many Movies
There’s nothing I find really exciting in the news, but there’s a lot of little things we can talk about. Mostly casting announcements.
News Round-Up: Dabangg 3 and Sonakshi, Diljit and Kriti, and Shahrukh and Karan and Farah
Happy Monday! Time to see what everyone’s been up to over the weekend. Not as exciting as some Mondays, but there are a few mildly interesting stories out there.
Happy 2 Days to Shahrukh’s Birthday! My 2 Favorite People in His Life
Happy 2 Days to Shahrukh’s birthday! Yesterday was his 3 favorite people in his life, today is my 2 favorite people in his life.
News Round-Up: Karan is Good to His Staff, Ajay is Good to the Audience, and Hirani is Good to Our Ears
Happy Saturday! I am cooking cooking cooking (new stove is hear and I have 5 pumpkins!), and also running back and forth to the movie theater, so no time for a real deep post. But at least I can throw up a news post!
News Round-Up: Prabhas is Pricey, Sushant Singh Rajput Pinches Pennies,
Extra news post this week, because there was some interesting stuff, and also I felt like we needed something to talk about besides Shahrukh.
New Youtube Video! Nepotism, Aayush Sharma, Salman Khan, and Karan Johar
Ittefaq Trailer! And, More Interestingly, Ittefaq Publicity Campaign!
Karan, Shahrukh, and other people all tweeted the trailer at the same time late last night. Which is interesting on its own. But also, the trailer is kind of good!
Luck By Chance Annotated Edition Part 8: The Ending! Friendly Appearance from Shahrukh
And now we are at an end! In a very long complicated section, complete with special guest star (I won’t make you wait, it’s Shahrukh). (full index of Luck By Chance coverage here)
Luck By Chance Annotated Edition Part 7: Karan Appears
Things are getting progressively interesting as the ending comes towards us! Most importantly, Karan appears! The unseen God who has put all of this in action. (full index of Luck By Chance coverage here)
Hindi Film 101: Top Box Office Hits 1986-2000
And now we reach the era that the majority of us are actually aware of! Yaaaaay! Which is also why this is the shortest post, because I didn’t feel the need to give nearly as much background. Feel free to take off in the comments with your on details for these films, if you want.
Luck By Chance Annotated Edition Part 4: Fans Through the Glass
I’m back! This is a completely ridiculous and non-practical series, by the way. JHMS, I got the best views EVER (even beat Bahubali). This, I’m getting like a few dozen on each post. But on the other hand, it is my few dozen most loyal commentators/readers, so just for you, I will continue to put them up. Well, and also I really liked the film. (full index of Luck By Chance coverage here)
TGIF: Happy Pride Weekend! Let Us Look at the Gayest Images in Indian Film
Oh Pride! The happiest weekend of the year in terms of fanfic/silly content. The saddest weekend of the year in terms of not having loud drunk people sit next to me on the train. At least this year I have no reason to leave the house (my church lemonade stand/marching group can get along without me!), so I can just huddle up indoors and work on my epic Pride themed fanfic. I’m going to try to hit all the letters, L and G and B and T and Q and maybe H. If Indian film isn’t going to serve that audience, it is up to me to fill in the gap! Anyway, a great TGIF post topic, I think we can all agree.
Hindi Film 101: For Aditya and Karan’s Birthday Week, A History of Yash Raj and Dharma Films!
Happy day after Karan Johar’s Birthday! And 4 (5?) days after Aditya Chopra‘s. I thought, for their birthdays, it might be interesting to talk about their respective studios, both uniquely a reflection of one man’s genius.
Happy 45th Birthday Karan! 45 Reasons I Love You!
45 is a nice solid age! And a Karan is at a nice solid point in his life, both a critical and business success, with his new babies. Entering his new year with things looking good! (this is an updated and reposted post from last year)
Silly Sunday Speculative Post: In Honor of Karan Johar’s Birthday, All of His Movie’s Endings Fixed!
I love Karan. Love love love. Both as an artist and a public figure. But I have to admit, he has a problem with endings. Every film either drags on too long or ends too soon. There’s always a feeling of “wait, that’s all there is?” at the end of it. And so, as my birthday gift in advance to him, I am going to fix all that! (real birthday post will go up in a couple days on the actual birthday)
TGIF: What Is More Important Than the Bond Between a Boy and His Mother?
Mothers and sons, that’s appealing, right? Depending on which side of it you are. If you are the daughter-in-law, it may incite crazed flashbacks of “JUST TELL HER WE AREN’T COMING FOR THANKSGIVING!!! STAND UP FOR ME FOR ONCE!!!” But if you are on the mothers’ side, or if you have no dog in this fight as yet (like me), it is very appealing.
Hindi Film 101: Nepotism Through History in Hindi Film, Part 1
Happy Tuesday! I was planning to do a Hindi Film 101 One-Off today on Sanjay Dutt’s court case or something, related back to the Nargis series I just finished. But “nepotism” has become the catchphrase of the day, so I thought it would be interesting to take a look back at the history of families working together in Hindi film, where it started and why. Oh, and I don’t usually plug my book in these posts, but this one is really very similar in tone and contains some content that I go into in more detail there, so if you like it, buy the book!
TGIF: Men and Women Emoting With Swords!!!!
I went from “women fighting” to “women with phallic symbols” to “women with swords” to “well, that’s not fair, I’ll throw in some men too!” And now here we are.
New Karan Column! Thank Goodness He Has a Platform Ready To Give Explanations!
Probably not a coincidence, right? Not like “ugh, another big controversy I am caught in! Hey look, I have a longform writing platform to discuss it. What a coinky-dink!” Probably more like “should I take this column offer from NDTV? I probably should, because it will be useful the next time I am inevitably caught in a controversy.”
Box Office: Badrinath Ki Dollars!
Do you like the title? I’m pretty proud of it. Anyhoo, what it means is that Badrinath was very very very good in overseas figures. Very VERY good.
Karan Johar Babies: What We Know So Far
I got a text and a tweet while at a tea room celebrating a friend’s birthday. And then immediately had to tell everyone at the table, and then text everyone I know, and then write an emergency blog post so you could all share in the joy. But now I am home, and I can scour all my favorite internet sources and see what I can find out!
News About 3 Upcoming Movies: Naseerji’s Son Gets His Launch, Swara Bhaskar Gets a Lead Role, and Yashji Gets a Remake
Well, everyone has decided that the duldrums of February is the time to promote their films, and the duldrums of March is the time to release them. It’s an interesting sign of the state of the industry that I find the piddling little early spring releases much more interesting than the big deal winter ones.
Anupama Takes a Look at Dharma Productions: The Arrival of the “D-Girls” in India!
T.J Stevens posted on last week’s Wednesday Watching post a video from Anupama Chopra’s “Film Companion” series, which was really interesting! So interesting that it is too much to talk about in a post comment. And yet possibly slightly too little to talk about in a post. We will see!
Karan Johar’s An Unsuitable Boy: A Summary in Filmic Terms, Part 2
I know a lot of us are reading this (and if you aren’t reading it, you should! It’s great). So I wanted to put up a couple of posts for us to discuss the details. And, if for some reason you don’t have the time or access to read it yourself, I thought I should try to put up some interesting details for you to learn. And since it is how I always think of things, I have tied them to Karan’s different films. (part 1 here)
