You have all been delightfully patient with my incredibly dull history of media series that I’ve been obsessed with for the past few days, but now it is all over and as a reward, I will do an intensive review of two movies that I suspect most of you have seen, and have opinions on.
For her birthday (/to take advantage of Kat being trending news today), Shahrukh posted her first look from Zero and a little introductory statement on his twitter. So, let’s obsess over it! The way we do.
Happy Sunday! I have to go lead a meeting at church in a bit, but first I get to be totally frivolous and ridiculous with the Silly Sunday stories. Hopefully I don’t mix this up with my meeting agenda and accidentally start reading it aloud.
National Ice Cream Day is actually Sunday (ooo! FanFic theme?), but I am stealing it for today for TGIF. Because I love those “what food is your favorite star?” kind of posts!
I just got in trouble again, some more, for discussing and critiquing a star persona which was seen as critiquing the person behind it. Which made me start to think about how I define for myself the star persona versus the person behind it.
Tomorrow is International Chocolate Day (today is fried chicken day in America-July is an unhealthy month). So I thought I would look at Chocolate Heroes, a phrase specific to Hindi film that makes almost no logical sense and yet you immediately understand what it means. Well, almost immediately.
I completely missed the coverage of the latest Ambani wedding, but I can leap in last minute to give the absolute basic bare bones information about the family for those of you who may not know about them. They are soooooooooooooo important in India, and yet tend to stay out of focus in the rest of the world, so you may not be aware of them if you live somewhere else.
Happy Monday! I had a very odd weekend, all day in the sun on Saturday, then church on Sunday and lunch with my parents, followed by a 4 hour nap. You know those naps that are so long when you wake up it feels like a different day? Maybe that’s why I am writing this post on Sunday night and scheduling it for Monday.
This video went up on Friday, but I have had a busy weekend, so I didn’t get a chance to watch it closely until now. Lot’s of interesting things to discuss!
This comes right up to the line of acceptable objectification. But I think we are still okay, because it’s not like we are saying anything about their basic bodies, or comparing them with non-muscley guys (Abhishek, you are the best), or even muscle to muscle. Merely in terms of the clothes they have chosen to wear, and the moments they have allowed to be photographed, who is the best?
The 4th of July is on a Wednesday this year, so no TGIF. But I couldn’t forgo this post, especially since there are updates to it for this year, so I am putting it up early. And sneaking it out mid-afternoon on a Thursday, hoping that it doesn’t permenantly damage my brand. Whatever, it’s a long week, sometimes you can’t wait until Friday!
Well, this is an odd list! And it inspired me to do a bit of research on how these names are chosen and what it means and what the process is.
Happy Monday! I am still grumpy about being gypped out of a good show on Saturday night (Hetal Patel, I curse your name!!!!), but I got to have coffee this morning, so that’s nice.
You understand that I mean “gay” as a genre, not an insult, right? Kind of horrible that I have to make that clarification. There used to be a movie store in the gay neighborhood of my city that had a series of shelves called “Neighborhood Favorites”. Which was their little pseudonym for movies with same sex romantic plot lines. So maybe I should say that instead, all the Khans, plus Amitabh, should be in “neighborhood favorite” movies.
Happy Pride! I am celebrating by sleeping in and recovering from the concert last night. But I will still mark the occasion with the annual reposts!

Apparently, this is going to be a story again. So I will try to address it again. The first time I tried, I got so much anger in the comments (by Priyanka defenders who misread it as the strawman version below) that I had to pull down the post, but maybe it will be better now. Mostly because I will try to be more clear in my writing.
Not a great start to the day here! Hopefully it gets better. Or else I will get a pizza on the way home tonight (my soothing stay inside treat) and hide from the world with Dog Hazel, that works too. Or just rely on my natural optimistic instinct to find the silver lining and force myself to be happy.
You know how sometimes you just need a little jolt of anger around mid-afternoon to keep you going? Not big anger about stuff that actually matters, but just gossip news incited anger. I am here for you!

I just randomly felt like writing about this movie. I’ve been avoiding it, because this is one that is really close to my heart and I know it isn’t close to the heart of most people, which is going to be heard for me to take when you comment. But then on the other hand, I should write about it for that very reason, so you can understand what I am thinking, and I can understand what you are thinking. And anyway, it’s Autism Pride Day today, and it was Eid a couple of days ago, so it seems like the perfect time. Plus, I am planning to cover Vishwaroop tomorrow and the two kind of go together.
Happy Father’s Day! This is a repost from last year, but it is very long and worth rereading. And also very very good, I forgot how good this one was! There’s Rana and Shahrukh fighting in wet shirts, Ranbir and Sonakshi falling in love, Varun Dhawan and a baby, all kinds of good things. Also, it’s a Father’s Day Multiverse and all the stories are connected. And anyway, I am spending 6 hours at church today (service plus organizing coffee hour plus meeting), so I earned a rerun.
I did a TON of research on this. And turns out there is no such thing as a “Pathani suit”. there are various specific things that it could be, traditional garb in the North Indian/Pakistani cultures, but what is generally called “Pathani” is really just loose Salwar and a very long Kameez.
More trailers! I tell you, Eid is exhausting. Plus there’ve been fireworks on my street the past couple of nights, which is also exhausting. But it’s all worth it, because THANK GOODNESS Zero is looking a little better.
My boss is gone today which means I can look at photos on my computer without fear of being observed and judged. Well, my co-workers might judge me, but whatever, I don’t care what they think. And I was just talking with Meenakshy about who looks good in a Dhoti, so why not do a Dhoti post? Similar too but different from my previous Lungi post. (for the purposes of this post, “Dhoti” means any single cloth that is used as a wrap skirt by an Indian man)
