Wait, did you think in all the preparation for Salman I would have forgotten him? Never! Oh, and also Christmas. But even Jesus’ birthday can’t distract me from celebrating Anil! 57 today, and I am doing 25 reasons I love him, for the age he was when he got married.

TGIF: Salman Week! Let’s Check Out His Most Famous Feature!
One of my favorite things about Salman is how often he takes his shirt off! And not just for film roles, but in life! He just doesn’t like wearing a shirt.
Megham: One of Those Movies Where Everything Clicks Once You Find the One Character You Care About
What an interesting movie! I mean, of course it’s an interesting movie, it’s a Priyadarshan comedy. There’s more human tragedy and quiet despair in a Priyadarshan comedy than in a whole Sanjay Leela Bhansali epic.
New OK Jaanu Song! I Did NOT Stay Up For It!
Why do they keep releasing songs and trailers at 11am India time? I need my sleep! Last night I decided that it was more important to be awake today for family events round 2 than to stay up until Karan tweeted the new OK Jaanu song.
Happy Birthday Salman! Best Performances!
Again, these are the best performances of those I have seen. Just like the last post was the best hair from the looks I knew. I haven’t actually seen every Salman film. But I have seen a lot of them! And of the ones I have seen, these are my top 5 performances.
Happy Salman Birthday Week! Best Hair!
It had to start late, because I didn’t want him to share with Aamir. But now the decks are cleared, Dangal is out, so I can focus on the birthday boy! I’ll be repurposing my 50 reasons to love him post from last year, updating and polishing and of course adding a reason 51. But I also wanted to post a couple of bonus “best of” posts. I haven’t seen everything he’s done, so this is just “best of” what I have seen, not all time. Feel free to mention anything I might have missed in the comments!
Dangal Review (SPOILERS): Every Gender Normativity Pothole Avoided!
I put up my NO SPOILERS review last night after I got home, and then I slept for 5 hours, and now I am at work and all ready to write my SPOILERS review. And then right after work is family dinner tonight, and then I come home and do laundry and wrap 37 presents and empty my sink of dirty dishes and maybe think about finishing decorating my trees. Christmas week releases are not the easiest. So forgive me if this review sounds a little punchy.
Dangal Review (NO SPOILERS): Aamir Steps Back and Lets the Women Take the Lead
I saw Dangal! I am getting no sleep tonight! Oh well, I’m sure I will be able to sleep sometime. Monday? Anyway, I wanted to get a quick NO SPOILERS review up while it was fresh in my mind.
FIRST RAEES SONG!!!!!!! (Shahrukh is not shirtless)
I sent this link around to all my friends, of course, and about a minute later I got a message from one of them saying “Shahrukh doesn’t even show up for the first 29 seconds, what’s the point?” Followed by a complaint about the presence of a shirt. So you can see that we have a fairly limited area of interest for song sequences. But, setting that aside and viewing this objectively, I think this is a pretty good one!
Happy First day of Winter! Some Seasonal Songs
It’s been a little bit since I did one of these song posts (although I have put songs up in my birthday messages). I like doing them, because I hope they fill the gap that I filled with songs DVDs. Back in the early 2000s, I bought and rented a bunch, and I would see random songs and think “Hey! That’s cool! I should check out this movie/actor/actress/choreographer.” Or at least I would think “Hey! Now I can picture that actor/song sequence/actress the next time he/it/she is mentioned.” Hopefully this collection of loosely connected song sequences can have a similar effect for some of you!
Happy Aamir Week! Last Day! Woot-Woot! Let’s Talk About Dil Chahta Hai and Aamir as a Flawed Mentor
Not like a “mentor who is romantic” (that would be Shahrukh in Dear Zindagi) but as a mentor in the field of romance. He is not great at it, at least as shown in Dil Chahta Hai and, possibly, in this movie.
New OK Jaanu Trailer! If This is a Chemistry Test for Shraddha and Aditya, They Pass!
Well, the Hindi version of the best song from OK Kanmani is now out! And it doesn’t sound as good. It’s true, that thing someone told me years ago, Tamil is a naturally melodious language!
New Kaabil Trailer! Okay, I Can Get Behind the Agneepath-Redux Vibe
The first Kaabil trailer, I was not interested in the romance-y bits, but right at the end when Hrithik got all dark and violent, that I liked! So this one, which is entirely dark and violent, this is right up my alley!
Jagga Jasoos Trailer!!!
This is the first of 3 trailers that came out today, and they are all so important I am giving them each their own post! This is the first one to put up, because I think it is the one there is the most to say about.
Bebo Baby! Baby Bebo!
Say that ten times fast! Anyway, wonderful news! Bebo had her baby! Saif is a father again! To a baby boy, Taimur Ali Khan Pataudi.
Happy Aamir Week! Raja Hindustani, and Aamir With a Beard!
Dangal is opening 2 days early in America, yaaaaay! So this is my second to last Aamir post, and I get to start Salman week 2 days earlier than I thought I would! Also yaaaaay! Since I am getting close to the end, I’m going to pull out a nice interesting movie, Raja Hindustani!
Monday Morning Questions Post! One Week to Christmas!!!
Happy Aamir Week! No Matter How Dangal Turns Out, It Cannot Be as Bad as Tum Mere Ho!
Just for the joy of it, I am going to write about Tum Mere Ho, potentially the worst movie Aamir has ever been in. One of those movies that it feels like the producer ran out of money so they just stopped filming and called it “the end”. I’m sure I will figure out a way that it relates to Dangal, but mostly just want to remind us all that Aamir has a past before his “great actor” period.
Koffee With Karan: Aamir and His Girls (Not Kiran and Ira)
Koffee With Karan report! I was very curious about this episode, because Aamir doesn’t do many interviews. And the Dangal girls haven’t really given any so far. And it didn’t turn out too badly!
Happy Aamir Week! Sarfarosh: Another Movie Where the Romance Came Second to the Character Goals
I first knew Sarfarosh for the love songs, one of which (“Hoshwalon Ko Khabar”) is one of my all time favorite songs, both the video for it and just the way it sounds on its own. And then a watch the movie, and come to find out that it is barely a romance at all! Which is what, I suspect, it will have in common with Dangal. The Aamir romance is there, sure, but it’s not really a big deal compared to everything else going on.
Christmas Give Away Winner Week 7!
Aaaaa! Only one week left to Christmas! I have now finished with 4 Christmas parties, 3 one on one get togethers for gift exchange, and today I mailed everything that needs to go to the out of state relatives. Which means my decks are cleared for the hardcore holiday stuff, the family events that happen during the week around Christmas. And it also means this is the second to last give away post! If you missed the earlier posts, the rules are, whoever makes the most comments in a week gets a card. Unless they already won a card, in which case I move on to the next most comments person. (week 1 here, week 2 here, week 3 here, week 4 here, week 5 here, week 6 here)
Happy Aamir Week! 3 Idiots: Aamir Going Against Intense Joyless Training, Before He is For it in Dangal
Happy Aamir Week Day 2! 3 Idiots! One of those movies that I have been avoiding because there is so much to say it overwhelms me. But no more! I’m not going to worry about saying everything, I am just going to say a little bit about one aspect.
Happy Birthday John Abraham!!!
He deserves a birthday post, right? Maybe not as long as the ones I did for Dilip Sahib and Raj Kapoor, but still something. Let’s say, a dozen reasons to love him, that seems fair.
TGIF Post of Gender Parity! Yes! I Am Going To Try To Do Sexy Women!
My first TGIF post was equally male and female, but since then I’ve just been taking the easy way out and doing men only. No more! Women! At least for one week.
Happy Aamir Week! Ghulam and Dangal: Aamir Uses Strength to Mask Weakness
I totally forgot about Aamir week for Dangal until TJ Stevens reminded me in the comments. Actually, I was thinking that I would need to start doing something for Salman week, but I guess I can start that after I finish with Aamir. I’ve still got his massive 3 part birthday post from last year, I can always update that and add in some quick reviews or something, right? And maybe just let him have the whole last week of the year to himself, to make up for cutting his birthday celebrations short?
