Smita and Shabanaji were long rumored to be professional rivals, kind of a Juhi-Madhuri thing. No personal component, I never heard about them fighting over the same man or anything like that. But some semi-nasty remarks passed in the press. And now, the feud continues, long after death! I am posting about Smitaji on Shabana’s birthday.
Was that headline sufficiently exciting for you? It’s a pretty exciting story, I have to say! Or at the very least, odd!
I had a whole back and forth in my head about whether or not to talk about this story, but then Rishi came out with a statement, so now it feels like fair game.

“Ellipsis Entertainment”. Really? Trying saying that outloud. Doesn’t your mouth kind of stumble over it? It looks good, and it’s a nice idea, that the leave out the unnecessary bits, and I am assuming their logo will be some variation on “…”, but can you really say it ten times fast?
This is, like, half a story. But it’s about Bahubaali 2, so I care DEEPLY. And I figure most other people would as well. Also, kind of interesting from an industry stand point.

Global figures are out for Baar Baar! And Bollywoodhungama says that they are “dismal”, but I’m not seeing it? But maybe that’s just because I am missing some extra information, like how big was the budget and how much were the distribution rights sold for. Oh, and also a new weird photo of Aamir

Why is this not bigger news? Out of all the people I follow on twitter, only industry analyst/journalist Taran Adarsh tweeted it. And it only had like 20 thousand views on youtube when I last watched it. Maybe the content is making Adi look for a slower roll-out?

But moviemavengal tweeted me about Dulquer’s gift to his Dad, and another commentator pointed out that it was Mammootty’s birthday today and now I feel bad for not acknowledging it at all. Although I did happen to post my Jagratha review today, so that’s cool!

It’s the Hrithik story that really delights me, and so long as I am writing about that, I thought I might as well hit some others.
I was going to stay up all night waiting for Karan to release it on twitter, after he teased it would be sometime today (in India). Thank goodness I didn’t, because he released it like an hour ago, so I would have been up all night. But, yay! Now it’s here!
At least, that’s what happened for me! Amitabh made me cry, and Farhan made me want to throw something. So, an emotional day for me!
As I said in my review, I really really liked Akira. So I am delighted to hear that the box office is picking up a little! Almost as delighted about confirmation for the Amitabh and Aamir rumor. The Sonam news, on the other hand, not so great.
I thought Ajay couldn’t top suing Yash Chopra’s widow days after his death, but this is pretty bad! Not that he’s actually necessarily in the wrong, just like he wasn’t in the wrong last time, but it’s just turning into a whole thing again which isn’t going to help anybody’s film.
