I don’t know if I woke up on the wrong side of the bed today or what, but the way BollywoodHungama is so shamelessly acting as a PR machine is really bugging me today. So I’m gonna report their “stories” but I also can’t help but call out their shame.
You know how sometimes you just need a little jolt of anger around mid-afternoon to keep you going? Not big anger about stuff that actually matters, but just gossip news incited anger. I am here for you!
Happy Tuesday! The box office figures for this week released early, so I already wrote about them, which gives me an opening in the schedule to do a news round-up. What fun!
More trailers! I tell you, Eid is exhausting. Plus there’ve been fireworks on my street the past couple of nights, which is also exhausting. But it’s all worth it, because THANK GOODNESS Zero is looking a little better.
This is a suuuuuuuuper fast news report, because I am still on vacation and I want to spend time with my sister, not blog. But I also feel it’s not fair to all of you, who read me so faithfully, not to provide content! And anyway, there were a couple of interesting stories today.
Boy, it’s been a while since I’ve done one of these! Rest assured, I have been reading the headlines and stuff all along, I just haven’t been writing about them.
4 movies to talk about! In various stages, one a trailer, one a second song, one an announcement, and one starting to film. And I am interested in ALL of them!!!!
I can’t stop myself! I keep looking at Sonam wedding videos! And, thanks to the latest batch, I now have several competing “ships” that I am rooting for. And I am sharing them with you, in the hope of either getting companions on board the SS Relationship, or else getting a solid common sense mind to drag me off.
I just get a giggle out of today’s news items and can’t resist sharing them. Sometimes celebrity news is very silly! Oh, and some of this stuff is actually interesting too.
Those noble souls with cell phone cameras and twitter accounts, they are the real heroes! Making us feel like we are there partying with everyone else. Only, less hot and drunk and vaguely tired.
News/trailers/posters round-up really. There are some new movies talked about that we should all be aware of and give our opinions of, because I know we all LOVE giving opinions.
I don’t want to talk about this news story in depth just yet, because it feels like there is going to be more to it that hasn’t come out yet and I am waiting for that. But I also don’t want to miss out on your thoughts and opinions, and possible knowledge of what I am missing, so I will put this up for us to use for discussion and then a “real” post possibly in couple of days when it has played out more.
So many trailers today! And also, good buzz for 102 Not Out. Shoot! I was thinking about taking a week off from watching movies, or else going regional instead. Oh well, I probably would have wanted to see it anyway just for Rishi and Amitji’s reunion.
You’ve all probably already said everything you have to say, but if you feel like repeating it all over again, here is this space! Because I finally got around to watching the trailer, and now I can talk about it.
I know, hours late, but better late than never! And now you can all watch it and have a nice discussion with me about it and how we all feel.
Well, this is a fascinating trailer! 2018 continues to look like a much better year for films than 2017. The old dinosaurs, Stars and Directors, are stepping back and new faces are getting a chance to shine. This film is a perfect match of a new actor and a new creative team behind her. Which came together to create a new story.
Happy Monday! I haven’t done a news post in a while, but I have been reading the news. Rest assured that all the various big stories have been processed in my brain, I just choose not to address all of them. These few here are the ones I find interesting.
Have you noticed that Bollywoodhungama always puts the really boring stories to the front with stuff like “You Won’t Believe!” or “Wow!” and then buries the really big ones? Well, Jeetendra’s rape accusation is that times a thousand. This has got to be the biggest story in the industry today, and everyone one is reporting it, but also burying it a little. Not just Bollywoodhungama, every website. I mean, they are reporting it, that’s good, but it’s not getting the kind of extra special obsessive treatment that Irrfan’s announcement-that-isn’t-really-an-announcement is getting.
This post comes to you from the airport between flights! So, not a lot of time for research or content, but enough time to throw up something quick based on twitter.
This was fast! Although, it seems like they are often fast, the funeral happening shortly after the death. And it all happened while I was asleep, of course. So here I am writing about her death, and the funeral is already over. And the twitter messages too.
This story is just going to drag on and on, I can feel it. And if I am already getting tired of it (not mourning Sridevi, just the logistical updates), can you imagine how exhausted her family must be? Waiting and waiting and waiting and putting all plans on hold over and over again?
This is the second part of the story that always happens. After the twitter messages, the personal visits start, and the stories of people comforting or helping directly. And then tomorrow (probably) will be the final story, the funeral and wake. At which we will see what public statements are made by who attends and how. Well, not quite the final story. It doesn’t end with the funeral. These bonds we are seeing now aren’t just for show, they will be followed up by serious commitments and lifelong support in Sridevi’s memory for the people she left behind.
And now the tweets have started. Which is expected. Always the first reaction after a death. In this case, they are interestingly similar and interestingly wide-ranging.
