I really really hate this movie. Which is funny since I just mentioned the last Shahid-Bardwaj collaberation Kaminey as my favorite film. But this one, it doesn’t work at all, and I hate it.
This is a film I just can’t help enjoying while I watch it. Knowing it is regressive and illogical and all those things. But it’s FUN!
I’m not going to repost the whole 3 part Padmavat summary review, that would be INSANE. Instead I am going to repost the much shorter no spoilers review.
Hello Again! Another repeat as I continue my day of doing ten million things up to and including getting my annual emissions test for my car. So I am using the time to repost all my Shahid reviews, in honor of his birthday tomorrow.
Shahid doesn’t really deserve a “day”, but my weekend is INSANELY busy this week, so I can’t write anything new, and his birthday is tomorrow, so it seemed appropriate to add him to my actor’s index list. Heck, maybe now that Padmavat has taken off, he will finally reach the top of the industry and have the career he always promised to have but never quite achieved.
Well, that was frustrating! Is this what TV interviews are like? Blech!!!!! No wonder I never watch them. Not even getting into specifics of this interview, just this strange sort of “gotcha” style of question and then not letting the interviewee actually answer, drove me crazy!!!!! Why ask him a question if you aren’t going to let him talk and then respond?
Oh look, Shahrukh is saying something important just as my blog views are beginning to drag again. He loves me! It’s totally not a one-sided thing.
I was putting together all the Aamir reviews yesterday, and suddenly realized, I never reviewed Dil Chahta Hai! How is this possible? It is SUCH an important movie!
And we are at an end! No more charming-but-murderous Maddy, no more troubled-but-reliable Amit, no more police jeeps driving through the streets of Bombay. I feel kind of bad, being so late with this after even Hrithik got his own, but at least Aamir has a decent number of in depth reviews to go on his list. Including two separate reviews of Rang De!
And we reach the end! Aamir’s most recent film, and also his one at the end of the alphabet. So one last review, and then he gets his nice fresh index.
This is a very very very specific post. Our nice commentator/friend Angie got Maddy to read and retweet my Breathe reviews, so in return I shall give her a nice theme TGIT post. That theme being “here are all the men you like in a variety of outfits and poses”. And then on tomorrow I will do a “normal” TGIF post that more than one reader will enjoy.
A couple of people responded to me on twitter arguing that Parampara was not, in fact, Aamir’s worst film and giving other options. And they were all valid! The man has been in A LOT of bad movies! And also, a lot of good movies. Anyway, what do you think? Best and worst?
But you didn’t think this post would show up on Aamir Day! But it is, he has more dialogue than anyone else, so why not?
Happy Thursday! Sometime around midnight tonight (I haven’t figured out the schedule exactly yet) the last episode of Breathe will come out. I wouldn’t be surprised if there is a second series at some point, so the story may not necessarily be over, but at least the first part will be resolved. (part 1 of my coverage here and part 2 here)

Welcome to the beginning of Aamir Day! No real reason, I just want to give him his own index just like Shahrukh and Hrithik and Salman, and now’s as good a time as any. There’ve been a few songs released while I wasn’t looking, none of them super exciting, but I might as well combine them all onto one post. So we can all talk about how excited, angry, or “meh” they make us feel.
Box office day! Yaaaaay! And there is a lot in the mix this week, Padman still playing and Aiyaary came out and Padmavat is limping to a conclusion. (numbers as always from rentrack by way of bollywoodhungama)
My company is switching payment systems blah blah blah, the end result is that I have to reenter and check data for 400 separate accounts. It’s very dull, but at the same time I have to stay focused and make sure I am accurate. So I am pulling out the super super good extra best songs play list that will keep me happy and energized. The songs I save as a special treat for when I really need a mood lifter.

On Friday I did a “TGIF” of happy couples, and then I realized that I was kind of skipping to the end, posting the couples without defining “happy” before. And I also find it legitimately fascinating how tricky the public versus private requirements of Hindi film industry marriages are.
