It’s Christmas Eve, I will give you an early present: Shahrukh fanfic, because it’s the only kind anyone reads/wants. And Christmas themed, Sexy Angel Shahrukh! Sexy Sacrificial Family Man Angel Shahrukh!

News Round-Up: Amitabh Has Money, Abhishek has a New Manager, Hichki Had an Elaborate Development Process, Shahid Has a New Career
Well this is an interesting batch of news in terms of changing industrial forces! Managers, story rights, all kinds of things that didn’t used to exist and may not necessarily result in a different or superior end product.
News Round Up: Salman Supports Heroines, Shahid Signs Heroine
I’m trying to put up tiny little news posts every day even when I don’t have much to say and there isn’t much news. So enjoy these two small non-news news items!
Dil Maange More: My Heart Wants More Films Like This!!!!
This is a perfect little light movie to watch on a Saturday morning while folding laundry. Doesn’t really deserve a Friday Classics review, but I can’t help sharing my joy in watching it! Especially since it is on Netflix now, so the vast majority of you can watch it too.
News Round-Up: Abhishek Update, Padman and Sony, Sanjay Khan and Scandal, Shahid Kapoor and Comedy, Padmavati
Okay, I am going to try to catch up on every interesting news story over the past few days in one big post! Some of these will be pretty short updates. Also, be warned, I haven’t had breakfast and the Padmavati news is irritating me, so I am in a pretty bad mood about all of these stories with no time to be diplomatic about how I address them.
TGIF: Men Lying Down
Okay, how can I say this classily? There is a certain kind of pose which seems to say “yes, climb on top of me and enjoy yourself”. That is the kind of pose that I am looking for this week. You know, so you can pretend you are kneeling on top of them throwing rose petals or something in a chaste and romantic manner. (I promise, next week will be something silly and innocent again! I don’t mean to be running a soft porn site, truly!)
Friday Classics: Kaminey, the Best Bhardwaj Film and the Best Bombay Film for Ganesh Chaturpathi
Not sure why I suddenly felt like writing about this film, but I did, so you will have to put up with it. And it is a really really good film. An odd film, not as easy a sell as Bhardwaj’s Shakespeare trilogy, but brilliant if you give it a chance. Plus, it’s Ganesh Chaturpathi, and this is a nice Bombay themed film for that.
Happy-making Songs in My Own Version of Antakshari
Why is there no news today? Why isn’t SRK releasing the newest Jab Harry Met Sejal song trailer? Why can’t I find anything for my quick afternoon post? All of these reasons and more are making me grumpy and depressed, so I am going to cheer myself up by looking at all the songs that make me smile. And also distract myself by playing my own personal version of Antakshari, connecting song by song through actor instead of word (don’t speak Hindi) or sound (can’t appreciate music). Feel free to suggest alternative happy songs that I could have gone with!
R… Rajkumar: A Guilty Pleasure Film I Actually Feel Guilty About
After doing my Prabhudeva Birthday post, I was suddenly in the mood to watch my favorite Prabhudeva movie. So I decided to indulge in a bit of a guilty pleasure. And not “guilty” like it’s usually used, like something you know is bad for you, but like something that is bad for the world and I know I really shouldn’t be encouraging, but it just makes me feel so good!
Happy Birthday Shahid Kapoor! 22 Reasons I Love You
Happy Birthday Shahid! To celebrate, 22 reasons I love you, one for every year you were old when you got your big launch.
Sunday Silly Speculative Post: What Happened to Naina in K3G?
Time for my silly post! This week, I was looking at my DVD shelf trying to think of what to talk about, and my eye fell on K3G. And I suddenly remembered the one very unfinished plot point in that movie. Whatever happened to Rani’s character?
Hindi Film 101: The Kapoors Part VII, the “Other Kapoors”, Sonam and Arjun, Plus Jeetendra, Shahid, Ekta, Pankaj
I am making an exception and putting up two 101 posts in one day! Because I want to finish off the Kapoors all nice and tidy on a Thursday, so I can start fresh with somebody else next week. Speaking off, there will be a poll at the end of this entry for you to decide who you want to read about next. (also, after some nagging and requests, I have set up a menu area for Hindi Film 101, you can see them all here)
Katching Up With Koffee: Mira and Shahid’s Debut! Sweet or Sickening?
Well, this was FASCINATING!!! I’m watching them out of order, so I just finished the Jackie and Sid episode, which was a bit tricky because there isn’t much that the audience was interested in learning about them. In comparison with Shahid and Mira, where we want to know EVERYTHING.
Rangoon Trailer: Bhardwaj Does Luhrmann With Nadia Wadia
Well, this is not what I was hoping for from a Bhardwaj movie! He is stylish, sure, but it is style that overlays real hardcore traditional messy Indian emotions. And Indian settings, gritty villages and remote farms. This thing though, at least based on the first trailer, is all style over substance. Luhrmann after Strictly Ballroom.
Hindi Film 101: Kapoor Family Part III, The Randhir Branch, Karisma and Kareena and Babita
Okay, I was thinking this would be a nice easy starting point for my new Hindi Film 101 series, and it is taking FOREVER. But I’m glad I’m doing it this way, because each of these branches and generations really needs their own focus area. And (hopefully) it will make it easier for you to refer back to them (part 1 with Prithviraj, Shammi, and Shashi here, part 2 with Raj and Nargis here)
Really Good Songs From Not Very Good Movies
Christmas is over, which is sad, but it means I have a lot of new presents to play with (check them all out here!), and it means I can go back to listening to Saavn and my Indian music instead of Christmas carols. In early November, when I start my Christmas channels, it feels all refreshing to listen to White People Music (as I think of it) for a little bit. But by December 26th, I am ready to go back to my Indian stuff. And for my first playlist, I went with the theme of “good songs from not good movies.”
TGIF Super Superlatives Post: Something to Argue Over All Weekend!!!
This came up from a discussion I had in the comments back on Monday with the commentator “Sal” about Kunal Kapoor. And I thought “Heck, I bet I can get another silly Friday post out of this! And one that will leave you lots to discuss and consider over the weekend!” Because I KNOW you are not all going to agree with me on all of these.
Badshah and Aunties, Shahrukh and Wet Shirts, and Other Things That Make Me Happy
Somehow, it is both rainy and overcast, and also 90 degrees out today. And Banjo isn’t playing anywhere near me, so I don’t get to see a new movie tonight. And generally life is bleak and depressing. So, here is a random collection of recent news items that make me happy. Feel free to bookmark this post for the next time you feel down!
Shahid and Mira imitate Aditya and Rani, So Do Soha and Kunal
Okay, not in the same way, but both couples just announced a new move that Aditya and Rani did first. Truly, Adi and Rani are the leading couple of Hindi film!
Shahid Gives Vidya Balan the Disease That Killed Yashji!!!
Was that headline sufficiently exciting for you? It’s a pretty exciting story, I have to say! Or at the very least, odd!
Happy Baby Shahid and Mira!!!!
Shahid had his baby! Based on how open he and Mira have been about their married life so far, I expect photos and videos to start popping up shortly.
Udta Punjab Review: Nothing Happens, and Yet Everything Changes (SPOILERS!)
I already put up a quick spoiler-free review, now it’s time to get in depth and deal with what really happens! Time for spoilers!
(if you want another non-spoiler perspective, check out moviemavengal’s review)
