Two trailers that I haven’t gotten around to discussing yet, and just to round out the post, my favorite song from KANK (actually, one of my all time favorite songs), in honor of the 10 year anniversary of its release.
Two trailers out today! I think they both might be attached to Rustom/Mohenjo Daro or something like that? Anyway, they are released online today, and I am excited!
Is it still Friendship Day in India? Am I getting in just under the wire or did I miss it? Oh well, either way I want to do a quick post on it with a few of my favorite songs about friendship.
Rabindranath Tagore died 75 years ago today, and to celebrate, he is trending on Indian twitter! So I thought I would throw up a quick post of all the things he means to me.
It’s Kajol’s birthday! YAAAAAAAAAAY!!!! I LOVE her! Love love love! So I am going to do a full 42 reasons I love her, one for every year she’s been alive. Oh boy!
So, Baar Baar Dekho trailer finally dropped today, which made me take a look at a couple of other trailers for movies I am less excited about that have been out for a while.
In my last fanvid post, I tried really hard to break out of my rut and move past the SRKajol fanvids that I have been watching every night before I go to bed since college. But that was so haaaaaaaaaaaard! I needed something to reassure me after all that, so I went right back to the SRKajol fanvid teat.
That sounds bad, just calling him my 4th favorite! But he should be flattered, he comes after Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, AR Rahman, and Vishal-Shekhar. And right before Pritam. And today he is 43, so I get to put up all my favorite songs and reasons I love him! 25 in all, for the age he was when he wrote his first hit song.
Well, “trailers”. There is a legitimate new trailer for Mohenjo Daro, but there is just a first look image for Baar Baar Dekho, which I actually forgot was even happening. This is what happens when you don’t cast any big names in your film! The gossip press doesn’t feel the need to keep us updated on the filming and it ends up being ready for release without anyone realizing it.
It’s Naseerji’s birthday! How wonderful! His career is so long and so impressive, I don’t think I can possibly hope to do justice to it in one post. So I am going to do the best I can and if I miss something, just mention it in the comments and maybe I will put it in for next years post! Anyway, here are 26 reasons for now, for the age he was in his first movie.
I half considered doing a “serious” post for this day, people who taught me about Indian film, but then it just would have been a dozen SRK songs, and that’s not fair to the non-SRK people! So instead I’ll do teachers in general, and only half SRK songs.

Here’s what’s really upsetting, in it’s on small way, about the news out of Turkey: they are really really really welcoming to Indian films. In a way that I found really surprising when I started researching this post. There were websites and articles, all about how happy they are to have India film in their country, how grateful they are to be part of these films, how proud they are of this connection. On the other hand, when Dhoom 3 was filming in my town, it was reported as “hey, isn’t this kooky?”
Terrible news out of France, but there isn’t really anything I can do about it. So I’m going to do the only thing I really can, and put up a theme post about it. Watch some songs, cheer yourself up, think about how France has always been a warm and wonderful place to dream about for people around the world.
Although it is Salman Day, and Ranveer’s Birthday, I thought I should acknowledge the “real” holiday with a post of my favorite religious songs. (Also, I am 95% sure all these songs are appropriate. But if a miss-translated a lyric or something, and one of them is more secular than religious, let me know right away so I can pull it out of a post where it doesn’t belong)
Happy Sultan Day! I have my tickets already for the 7 o’clock show, planning to get there half an hour early so I can get a good seat. But in the meantime, let’s have some Salman songs to get us in the holiday mood!
What is up today? I was all set to do a couple of video posts for Eid and Salman, and then a Sultan review at midnight when I finally got home. And then pop pop pop, all these news stories come up! Ranveer, and now a new Mohenjo Daro video!
Yay! There is a real poster for Dangal! Not just that strange Aamir coming out of the dirt thing we got months ago. And it looks strangely Disney. Oh, and also a trailer for Akira, which does NOT look Disney.
Happy 4th of July! I am celebrating by locking my doors and fervently ignoring the massive celebration going on at the end of my street. It’s just so hot! And crowded and loud and blech! Instead, I am going to have a little song festival of American-themed Indian movie songs. As always with these posts, if I missed one you like, just mention it in the comments!

It was just announced yesterday that it would be attached to Sultan, and I guess they decided to let it out a few days early online. Whatever the reason is, I don’t care, I’m just glad I can watch it!
There is more than you think! I’m not just talking about Dostana, or Kal Ho Na Ho, or Dunno Y…Jaane Q, or Bombay Talkies, or Margarita with a Straw, or even Fire. In the whole history of Indian film, there have always been those people off to the side, being themselves and being Queer.

Mohenjo Daro trailer! I know what I am doing on Independence Day! Although, I think some of the history might be a little slippery.
Happy Father’s Day! Not quite as fruitful a source for videos/films as Mother’s Day, but almost! And again, I am grateful that it happens every year so I don’t have to feel like I am limiting myself with just my choices for this year.
