We’ve been talking about gossip back and forth for the past few weeks, and I’ve been thinking about all those stories that are just sort of in the air around us with no one ever actually saying them straight out. They are more poisonness that way, I think, floating around powerful and unspoken. So, let’s speak them! I’ll start with a list of every gossip story I have heard, and you can add on whatever I have missed.

Saturday Small Talk! It’s the Weekend, Let’s Waste Time
Happy Saturday! I am helping my parents open up the family house, and also washing my dog. So, not much time for postings. Anyway, Alicia/Bollywood Newbie asked last week if there could be a post between Monday and Wednesday for random small talk. This is that post! Let’s see how it goes.
Hindi Film 101: Media and Stars, From Dilip Kumar to Sonam Kapoor
Welcome back! The last post focused on an overview of celebrity media from the big picture perspective, how the fans and media found each other and grew. Now, let’s shift to looking at what this is like for the Stars and bringing it through to today where media and Stars have come together and turned into one entity
Hindi Film 101: Media from Prithviraj Kapoor to Shahrukh Khan, Newspapers to Websites
Sonam’s wedding is the perfect opportunity to discuss the changes of old media and new media and blah blah blah to how the Hindi film industry operates! And, hopefully, how it will start operating in a new way. I’ll get to Sonam in the next bit, but first I have to back up and deal with celebrity culture in general, and how the media works with it.
Sonam Wedding Part 2: The Big Day! Amitabh is There
More photos! And Ranveer finally makes an appearance. Question, how horrible is it for Dips to be in America at the Met Gala while her boyfriend’s cousin is getting married? Is that like an acceptable thing for a girlfriend to do, pick a work event over a family wedding? If the wedding is just your boyfriend’s cousin?
Box Office: Allu Beats Mahesh, Amitabh Beats Them Both
Welcome back to Box Office! I skipped last week, just because, no real reason. But now I am back! In time for excitement with yet another good Telugu release. (as always, figures courtesy of renttrack by way of Bollywoodhungama)
102 Not Out Review (SPOILERS): An Original Father-Son-Father-Son Story
No, that title isn’t a typo. It was promoted as a father-son story, but there’s another layer to it. Oh, and it’s still worth watching even if you read the SPOILERS review just for the performances, but the plot will have more impact if you go in fresh. So, read the “no spoilers” review instead if you can!
102 Not Out Review (No Spoilers): A Movie With A Lot of Heart and No Stars
I had to do a bit of running around to see this movie, and abandon my adorable dog for half the day (she didn’t notice I was gone. She’s not that smart), but it was worth it, because this is a surprisingly good film.
Friday Classics: Mili! A Familiar Dramatic Story Told in an Undramatic Way
I was going to watch Uphaar, but that wasn’t available anywhere. So then I was going to watch Guddi, but I couldn’t find my DVD. And so, with every other door closed to me, I was forced to turn to Mili. The film I bought 4 years ago and have been avoiding in fear of the sad bits.
Twitter Update: Amitabh is Cute, Salman is Proud, Irrfan Might Be Sick?
This post comes to you from the airport between flights! So, not a lot of time for research or content, but enough time to throw up something quick based on twitter.
Shammi Aunty: Twitter and Funeral Report Post Combined
This was fast! Although, it seems like they are often fast, the funeral happening shortly after the death. And it all happened while I was asleep, of course. So here I am writing about her death, and the funeral is already over. And the twitter messages too.
RIP Shammi, The Most Lovable Old Auntie
This was a thing to wake up to! And I had just mentioned her in a Sridevi post as someone who was still hale and healthy and going strong. Now I am worried about accidentally cursing her! Although she would probably forgive me, she seemed like someone who would just laugh off any problem or insult and keep going her own way.
Saturday Classics: Silsila! For Holi!
Happy Saturday! I’m on vacation, so I missed yesterday’s Friday classic post. And posts will be a bit sparse for the next few days. But I’m gonna make up for it by doing a stone-cold classic, which is also holiday appropriate, for the random one-off Saturday Classics post.
Holi Hai!!!!
Happy Holi! I almost forgot this holiday thanks to the national mourning happening (sounds like at least a few of the Holi parties for the film industry will be canceled altogether), but I remembered in time. This is a mix of songs I have posted in previous years and new ones. Enjoy! And let me know if I missed something (yes yes, “Rang Barse” and all the other must dos are there)
Sridevi Daily Review: Khuda Gawah! Sridevi and Amitabh and Nagarjuna
I know this isn’t the best movie, in many ways. But it is a very enjoyable and memorable movie. And I’m sleepy and this is a movie I can write about without thinking to much. Because it doesn’t demand much thought. Unlike yesterday’s movie, which is part of the reason I was up so late and am now so sleepy.
Silly Sunday: FanFic We Wrote on Monday!
This was fun, I didn’t have to write anything this week! We wrote it all together on Monday in bits and pieces, I just had to pull it together and make sense of it for this.
TGIF: For Valentine’s Day, Cutest Couple Photos
First, if you are in a grumpy “I hate romance and love and couples!” mood, that is your right, and you should go watch Anjaam and look at yesterday’s “men in wet shirts” post. But if your mood is more “falala, happiness and flowers and my boyfriend/husband is so awesome!”, then this will just serve to increase that feeling. Or, alternatively, if you are in a sort of miserable “there are no happy couples or true love in the world” vibe, this will convince you that is false. Also, I have a clear and declared winner for the Best Couple Award, you will have to convince me out of it.
Valentine’s Day Announcements! Upcoming Films And More
Well, everyone wants to release first looks on Valentine’s Day. So there are soooooooooooo many. And also, bonus, a reminder that once upon a time Jaya and Amitabh were so in love you could die.
News Round-Up: Everyone Has Jobs, Amitabh to Anupam to Imraan!
Happy Monday! So much news to catch up on! For instance, Amitabh went to the hospital, which is always an exciting experience for the international news media. Poor Amitabh, can you imagine if every time you went in for a routine procedure, your picture was headlines everywhere in the world? So stressful!
Silly Sunday: International Day of Women and Girls in Science! Vidya Balan Female Scientist With Supportive Men in Her Life
My sister, who does math, just forwarded me an email reminding her to celebrate the “international day of women and girls in science”. Which I feel can best be celebrated by an epic fanfic about how hard and ultimately rewarding it can be to be a woman in science.
Upcoming Movies: The Next Film of Amitabh, Rajinikanth, Ranveer, and Dhanush
Lots of first looks! Which are always kind of “how is this news?” but sometimes slightly interesting. These were slightly interesting ones.
Tuesday Classics: Bunty Aur Babli, Abhishek’s Best Role and a Movie Like No Other
It hurts my little alliteration loving heart, but I can’t do Tuesday Telugu this week. Because a big snow storm ruined my plan to drive out to the movie theater yesterday. So instead I am swapping in Friday Classics and, if the weather clears, I will do Telugu on Friday. Or something. Anyway, it still works because we get to have an Abhishek movie right by Abhi’s birthday!
News Round-Up: Upcoming Movies, and Other Stories
Even more news! Announcements of upcoming movies primarily. Which kind of makes sense, we are entering the spring doldrums, so now is the time to start your promotion campaign while nothing exciting is hitting theaters.
TGIF: Smoking Men
It’s a pun! Do you get it? Because it is men who are smoking hot, and also actually smoking, like smoking cigarettes. Okay, so it’s kind of a lame theme, but I still have holiday brain, and who knows, maybe seeing all of these photos of themselves will inspire some of these guys to make it a New Year’s resolution to stop smoking.
News Round-Up: Amitabh Has Money, Abhishek has a New Manager, Hichki Had an Elaborate Development Process, Shahid Has a New Career
Well this is an interesting batch of news in terms of changing industrial forces! Managers, story rights, all kinds of things that didn’t used to exist and may not necessarily result in a different or superior end product.
