My first fanfic post was very long, had no SRK, and only had one story option. All of these things have resulted in the past in a lack of interest from the readership. So to make it up I am going to do something short, with a lot of options, and lots of SRK.
A happy post! To balance the serious one from earlier today. And also because I looooooooooooove Yash and Roohi. Most serious and concerned babies ever!
It’s Preity’s birthday week! And Urmila’s too! And both of them deserve to be working more, even though they are over 40. So, I have IDEAS!
I know I’ve been doing a lot of song posts lately, but I am sick of reporting on Padmavat and not much else has been happening. So, songs it is! Just to keep us busy for a bit until the one-two of Padman and Aiyaary next week. Oh, and there’s a dog video at the end, if you are into that sort of thing.
Happy Friday! I think this can legitimately be considered a classic, don’t you? Not a perfect movie, but one that is also a little bit better and a little more interesting, and a little more memorable, than the run of the mill films. And anyway, it’s Preity’s birthday week.
This popped into my mind during a discussion in the comments on posts about Davos and I just had to write it down. I’m very excited!

You probably haven’t noticed, but I am trying to be an “adult”, and do straight adult analysis and stuff lately, no fun TGIF, less sexy FanFic, and so on. And it’s HARD. I don’t like it! So my girly fan stuff is bursting out of me, and I have to do an all SRK fanvid post!
Davos videos are out! Have been out for like a day now, but I am a baaaaaaad Shahrukh fan and just got around to watching them now. Anyway, let’s talk! The actual awards list went up earlier, but we all know that doesn’t matter nearly as much as what people wore! Not even joking, in terms of people tuning in for the show, it’s all about who showed up and how big they went. And in terms of how seriously people are taking the awards, and their careers in Hindi film, it is also about how big they went (remember in 2016 Priyanka didn’t even come?)
It only took a month, but I have now finished “Mehndi Laga Ka Rakna”! There’s really a lot in that song, much more than in the other ones. It’s also, I think, only fully “real” song, even “Ruk Ja” feels like it has some fantasy in there, and certainly all the other songs are a mix of real and not-real. (full index of DDLJ coverage here)
Okay, there are a few images beginning to filter out of the calendar-that-isn’t-a-calendar. For newbies, Dabboo is the biggest celebrity photographer. And every year, he gets together with his celebrity friends and shoots a calendar. 24 images, which are revealed at a party in January, and then 24 copies of the calendar are made and given to the models. That’s it, you can’t buy it, and the images aren’t made available to the public. Except through illegal fuzzy reprints that slowly leak out on the internet over the course of the next 24 hours. Which is their purpose, to be leaked so we all know Dabboo’s name and he gets publicity. Dabboo Dabboo Dabboo.
Well, here’s exciting news! For the first time since these things started being tracked, Shahrukh Khan is NOT the most valuable celebrity brand in India!!!! Instead, he has been knocked off his perch by Virat Kohli. Which made me start thinking in a different way about Virat, about Shahrukh, and about all the other perches Shahrukh should be knocked off of.
I haven’t done one of these in a while, and Shahrukh keeps tweeting his Dubai ads like he is just begging me to mention them, so I might as well. Also, instead of seeing a new movie tonight I went to look at dogs again, so no new movie review. But dog photo at the end of the post!
More news! Going back to my post this morning, it really feels like Padmavat has been holding us hostage for the past 2 months. And now, suddenly freed, there is all kinds of news popping up all over, interesting news.

I spent three hours yesterday looking at dogs. Well, 20 minutes looking at dogs, 2 hours and 40 minutes driving between shelters that turned out to be closed or not have any dogs and talking about dogs with my friend who came with me in order to stop me from taking home every dog there. Anyway, what with all the doggie talk, it is obvious what the topic of this week’s fanfic will be.
I forgot how much the outsiders in the love triangle have to do in this song! There’s Mandira Bedi all over the place, but this bit has Kuljit too, and he will show up again later. (full index of DDLJ coverage here)

Happy New Year’s Eve!!!! Obviously, I have to do a theme post. I considered stories that revolved around New Years celebrations, but then I wasn’t sure what that would look like in India, so instead I am going with my sister’s suggestion and doing New Year’s combined with time travel.
It’s a pun! Do you get it? Because it is men who are smoking hot, and also actually smoking, like smoking cigarettes. Okay, so it’s kind of a lame theme, but I still have holiday brain, and who knows, maybe seeing all of these photos of themselves will inspire some of these guys to make it a New Year’s resolution to stop smoking.
The holidays (Christmas, Salman’s birthday, Anushka’s wedding) are finally over and people are doing newsworthy things again.

Getting this out of the way right at the beginning, I am not a fan of Anushka’s lehenga. It’s just kind of boring, and the waistband is weird. But the other clothes are worth looking at!
